Tom Holland, Zendaya's fiancé, among top choices as the next James Bond
Could Spider-Man become the next James Bond? A report says Tom Holland, the fiance of Oakland-born actress and singer Zendaya, is one of Amazon MGM Studios' top three choices to play Agent 007, along with 'Euphoria' star Jacob Elordi and 'Babygirl' actor Harris Dickinson. Holland has played the web-flinging superhero in three films, most recently 2021's ' Spider-Man: No Way Home,' with Zendaya as his love interest in all three films. The pair is supposed to star in a fourth Spidey film, but the movie is still in the planning stages. Amazon and the new Bond producers, Amy Pascal and David Heyman, revealed on Wednesday, June 25, that ' Dune ' franchise director Denis Villeneuve has been tapped to helm the first Bond film since Daniel Craig retired from the role. Because the actor cast as Bond would ideally play the character for 15 years or more, the studio and producers are targeting British actors under the age of 30, Variety reported. Elordi is Australian, but there is a precedent for that: Aussie George Lazenby played the dashing British Secret Service agent in 1969's 'On Her Majesty Secret Service.' Ever since Craig's final Bond film, ' No Time to Die ' (2021), speculation has been rampant about his successor, with former ' Superman ' Henry Cavill, Idris Elba and Aaron Taylor-Johnson often mentioned as top choices. But Cavill is 42, Elba 52 and Taylor-Johnson 35. Craig was 36 when he was cast as the character created by novelist Ian Fleming in the 1950s. He played the role five times, beginning with 'Casino Royale' (2006). He was 51 during the bulk of the filming of 'No Time to Die.' At 5-foot-7, the 29-year-old Holland would become the shortest James Bond; the 6'5' Elordi, 28, would be the tallest. Dickinson, 29, is 6'2'. Amazon acquired the Bond franchise, which began in 1962 and has made nearly $8 billion across 25 official films, in 2022 and assumed creative control this year. Sean Connery originated the role in 'Dr. No' and starred in the first six of seven films, coming back for one more film after Lazenby's appearance; followed by Roger Moore (seven films), Timothy Dalton (two), Pierce Brosnan (four) and Craig. Whomever is cast to join this elite bunch won't make his debut for a while. Amazon is targeting a 2028 release at the earliest for the gargantuan production. If it is Holland, could Zendaya be the next Bond girl?

Who is Denis Villeneuve? All About Canadian Filmmaker Known for Dune Set to Direct Next James Bond Movie
The James Bond franchise has seemingly chosen the next man behind its cameras, and we think they might be onto something here! Denis Villeneuve has been set as the director for Amazon MGM Studios' 007 film. According to DEADLINE's report on June 25, the filmmaker known for his work in films like the Dune series, will be directing the 26th James Bond film, while they continue to look for their lead. Denis Villeneuve was born in Quebec, Canada, and stuck to domestic films for over 2 decades of his career, only moving to the world of Hollywood in 2013 when he had Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal starring in Prisoners. His global fame continued to rise following that, contributing to films including Sicario, Arrival, and Blade Runner 2049. However, despite amassing global success, these films would not be the highlight of his career. Denis Villeneuve's Famed Projects The Dune franchise, starting off with Dune, followed by Dune: Part Two, and the upcoming third instalation Dune Messiah, finally gave him the flowers that he so deserved, with praise of Denis Villeneuve ringing worldwide. His collaboration with some of the biggest names in the industry, including Emily Blunt, Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, and more, with the ability to make them glow further with his direction, is commendable. More than that, however, is his dedication to his art, which continues to flourish and flow via his surprisingly modest list of Hollywood projects. An inkling for science fiction, the 57-year-old is all set to bring his magic to Cleopatra, a Rendezvous with Rama film adaptation, a sci-fi drama based on the novel I'm waiting for you, and finally, the rumored Nuclear War: A Scenario creation. Denis Villeneuve is also said to be working on an unnamed project, trying to find the time to shoot for it between Dune Messiah and Cleopatra. As for his personal life, Denis Villeneuve is married to his journalist wife Tanya LaPointe. He has three kids, one of whom is filmmaker daughter Salomé Villeneuve. Meanwhile, James Bond continues to hunt for the next 007 role, with names like Idris Elba, James Norton, Theo James, Callum Turner, Harris Dickinson and Aaron Taylor-Johnson being thrown into the pool.

Amazon MGM Studios and Avid extend cloud production deal
Amazon MGM Studios and Avid began a strategic collaboration three years ago that will continue as the companies explore ways to integrate other Avid tools via the cloud. Avid has announced an expanded agreement with Amazon MGM Studios to integrate its leading creative tools—Media Composer and Avid NEXIS—into Amazon Web Services (AWS), allowing the studio's productions to leverage cloud-based editing and storage solutions tailored to their specific needs. The partnership marks a significant step in Amazon MGM Studios' long-term strategy to transform global production and post-production workflows using scalable, cloud-native technologies. The extended collaboration builds on a relationship that began three years ago, as both companies continue exploring opportunities to bring more Avid tools to the cloud. The integration follows the recent unveiling of the Avid on AWS production framework at NAB Show 2025, reinforcing Avid's role in powering modern, agile post-production environments Raf Soltanovich, VP of Technology, Prime Video & Amazon MGM Studios, said: 'Amazon MGM Studios' continued relationship with Avid underscores our confidence in the role Avid NEXIS and Avid Media Composer play in the cloud-powered post-production future. Today, through the Studio's own offering with AWS, we can deploy Avid NEXIS to our productions around the world in minutes, which helps us ensure we have best-in-class tools to support our productions.' The integration allows Amazon MGM Studios to enhance global collaboration, enabling distributed teams to work faster and more efficiently using flexible, software-defined workflows. A recent feature film project illustrated this capability, with dailies processed in Mumbai and editorial completed between London and Spain—showcasing seamless, cross-border collaboration and the ability to make editorial adjustments in real-time during production. The cloud automation enabled by AWS significantly reduces turnaround time, streamlining post-production operations while maintaining creative control. By deploying Avid's tools across international locations, the studio meets increasing industry demand for accessible, high-performance editing environments that function beyond traditional studio confines. Wellford Dillard, CEO at Avid, added: 'We are meeting the pent-up demand of enterprise-class customers for a secure, scalable, and high-performance post-production solution on AWS,' said . 'Amazon MGM Studios' integration of Avid Media Composer and Avid NEXIS not only shows the critical role our technology continues to play in media production workflows, it also proves that cloud-native post-production is empowering successful creators everywhere, today.' The successful deployment of Avid Media Composer and NEXIS for Amazon MGM Studios via AWS demonstrates the impact of Avid's open and integrated cloud workflows, providing a blueprint for future studios seeking to modernize content creation while meeting the creative demands of global production teams.
