TNT Sports stepping away from NBA TV
June 27 - TNT Sports will relinquish oversight of NBA TV operations, it was announced today by TNT Sports Chair and CEO Luis Silberwasser. After a 17-year run with TNT Sports, day-to-day operations will revert to the league on Oct. 1. "We made several proposals to continue to provide services and operate the NBA TV network and related digital assets," Silberwasser wrote in a memo to employees of the Warner Bros. Discovery cable unit, as reported by Sportico. "However, we were unable to agree on a path forward that recognized the value of our expertise, quality content and operational excellence that our fans and partners have come to expect from TNT Sports." In July 2024, the league announced a new 11-year agreement with the Walt Disney Company, NBCUniversal and Amazon Prime Video to broadcast approximately 75 games on linear television in addition to all national games being available on streaming services. TNT's agreement called for a minimum of 15 games on broadcast television. TNT will continue to generate digital content for the league through Bleacher Report and House of Highlights and maintain editorial control of the Inside the NBA studio show. The highly popular program that features Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith, Shaquille O'Neal and Ernie Johnson will air on ESPN and ABC. --Field Level Media

Why didn't Caitlin Clark play? When Indiana Fever star may return
Here was Stephanie White with the latest on Clark, before last night's game vs Sparks: day-to-day Caitlin Clark missed her sixth game of the season on Thursday night in an eventual 85-75 Indiana Fever loss against the Los Angeles Sparks. Clark has been ruled out of Friday night's contest at the Dallas Wings as well. It will be Clark's seventh game missed this season via injury. Why didn't Clark play against the Sparks and why won't she play against the Wings? The 6-foot guard is sidelined with a groin injury. Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White commented on the potential timeline for Clark to return. "Just day-to-day. It depends on a lot of her rehab and therapy and strength training and how that goes. Right now, it's just day-to-day," White said. White said after Thursday's loss that the compacted schedule would factor into whether or not Clark would be available. "Certainly, in my mind, it is," White said of the tight schedule. "At the same time, she has shown she's tough, and a quick healer, so we'll see." Obviously, now fans know that they won't see Clark back out on the court until Tuesday night at the earliest. The Fever take on the Minnesota Lynx on Tuesday, July 1 in the Commissioner's Cup Championship at 7 p.m. CT on Amazon Prime Video presented by Coinbase. After that, Indiana (7-8) hosts the Las Vegas Aces on Thursday, July 3 at 6 p.m. CT on Amazon Prime Video. Clark previously missed five games earlier this season with a left quadriceps strain. The Fever went 2-3 minus Clark in their games between May 28 and June 10. Following that initial injury absence, Clark returned and erupted for 32 points on 11-of-20 shooting, including a career-high seven made 3-pointers in a 102-88 win over the New York Liberty. Clark played in five games after her initial injury absence, averaging 17.8 points per game. But, Clark was in the midst of a three-game shooting slump when she suffered this latest groin injury. The former Iowa superstar made just 1-of-23 3-point attempts in her most recent three games played. On the season, Clark is averaging 18.2 points, 8.9 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game on 39.0% shooting and 29.5% 3-point shooting in nine games played. The incident occurred when the tank cap on the hedge cutter broke off. However, Kaleb, who was on his way to a bailing job, swiftly intervened to ease the situation. One witness, Paul Lowe, a 53-year-old swimming pool engineer from Abingdon, told The Sun: "I spotted him instantly and was a little bit starstruck as I'm a big fan of the show." "Kaleb was parked on the corner speaking with the driver and looked a bit worried. He probably had a lot of other jobs to get done and this only added to his hectic morning. The 53 year old went on to commend Kaleb for his quick thinking in preventing a serious accident by calling a colleague from his agricultural contracting business to help remove the machinery from the road. Thames Valley Police have yet to comment on the incident, but it is reported that they were contacted to ensure the safety of other road users. Attempts have been made to reach Kaleb's representatives for a statement. In a video posted on the event's official Instagram account, he said: ''I may be hobbling around because I've got a bit of a busted ankle, but it'll be fine. "In another Instagram Story, he shared: "Just got back from football and trying to haul my [butt] to shut the chickens up... look at that ankle." 'Divisive' comedy thriller with shocking ending available to stream for free
Movie fans now have the chance to watch one of 2023's most controversial films, now that it's landed on BBC iPlayer. Dark comedy Saltburn, starring Barry Keoghan and Jacob Elordi, caused quite the stir when it dropped on Amazon Prime Video towards the end of 2023. Saltburn follows the story of Oxford student Oliver Quick (Keoghan), who finds himself romantically drawn to the aristocratic Felix Catton (Elordi) and his titular country estate. However, upon arriving at Saltburn, Felix and his family aren't quite what they seem, leading Oliver into a world of depravity, decadence, and even murder. The film quickly gained a reputation for its severe sexual content and nudity, as well as its frequent depiction of violence and gore, drug use, and frightening scenes. A moment towards the end of the film that used Sophie Ellis Bextor's Murder On the Dancefloor also sent that song back into the charts more than 20 years after its release. The film currently has a Rotten Tomatoes critical rating of 71% – new official reviews were still being added to the site almost a year after its release. Audiences who watched Saltburn reacted positively, with the fan rating currently stating that 79% of viewers would give the film a score of seven out of 10 or more. The audience consensus, generated by Rotten Tomatoes, warned: 'Saltburn is really intense and the cast does a terrific job, but if you're easily grossed out or offended, this probably isn't the movie for you.' For Metro, Tori Brazier said Saltburn had: 'Sex scenes dripping with bodily fluids, [and] a highly sexualised sequence in a cemetery that no film fan is likely to have anticipated – until it's already unfolding in front of their eyes. The film's director Emerald Fennell told Metro: 'If anyone should be asking any sort of questions about [my] sanity, for example, they should leave them maybe at my door.
