'Congress will re-launch Pranahita-Chevella'
HYDERABAD: Deputy chief minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Sunday announced that the Congress govt will extend all necessary support to the woman members of self-help groups (SHGs) to establish micro-industries in each of the 119 assembly constituencies in the state, with interest-free loans being disbursed to them.
The Congress govt will come out with more welfare schemes, he added.
In the first year of the Congress govt, Rs 21,632 crore interest-free loans were given to SHG women. The distribution of cheques for disbursement of another Rs 20,000 crore 'vaddi leni runalu' (interest-free loans) commenced on July 12 and would continue up to July 20.
"When chief minister A Revanth Reddy and I announced that the Congress govt will make one crore women crorepatis, many people mocked us.
But we are on our way to achieving the target by disbursing 1 lakh crore interest-free loans to one crore women in a period of five years," Bhatti said, addressing a public meeting in Mancherial.
