Israeli fire kills 32 Palestinians near US-backed food aid sites in Gaza

GAZA — Israeli troops opened fire Saturday on crowds of Palestinians approaching food distribution centers in southern Gaza, killing at least 32 people, according to witnesses and local health officials. The shootings occurred near aid hubs operated by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), a U.S.- and Israeli-backed group attempting to replace the United Nations' traditional aid delivery system in the besieged enclave. The deadliest incident took place in the Teina area, about three kilometers east of Khan Younis, where hundreds of Palestinians had gathered at dawn, hoping to secure food. Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene as troops, stationed at a distance, fired warning shots before launching what they called 'indiscriminate fire.' 'It was a massacre,' said Mahmoud Mokeimar, a witness who escaped the shooting. 'The occupation opened fire at us without warning. I saw people fall one after another.'Another survivor, Akram Aker, said gunfire came from Israeli tanks and drones as the crowd approached. 'They encircled us and opened fire between 5 and 6 a.m.,' he al-Jaberi, 55, said she was among those trying to reach food: 'We shouted 'food, food,' but they didn't talk. They just opened fire.'Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis confirmed receiving 25 bodies and dozens of injured, many with bullet wounds to the head and a separate incident in the Shakoush area north of Rafah, seven others were killed while approaching another GHF site, according to hospital and health ministry two Palestinians were also killed in Gaza City in an Israeli airstrike that hit a tent sheltering displaced Israeli military confirmed firing 'warning shots' near Rafah after what it described as a group of suspects approached troops and ignored warnings to stay back. It said the incident took place overnight, before the aid centers GHF denied any shooting occurred at or near its sites, claiming the incidents were 'far from our centers and occurred hours before operations began.'It also warned Palestinians against arriving at sites in the early morning or overnight its claims, GHF operations have been criticized for chaos and lack of safety. Witnesses say aid is often left on the ground, sparking panicked rushes. Videos obtained by the Associated Press show contractors using tear gas, stun grenades, and warning shots to disperse hungry deadly shootings follow weeks of rising frustration over GHF's role in Gaza. Backed by Washington and Tel Aviv, the foundation was launched in May to bypass the U.N. aid system, which both governments claim has been infiltrated by Hamas. The U.N. has strongly denied the accusation and criticized the GHF's father of one victim, Monzer Fesifes, blamed U.S. and Israeli efforts for the tragedy. 'My son Hisham went to get food from this failed American-Zionist project, and now he's dead,' he said, pleading with Jordan to evacuate his family from officials say the Nasser Hospital is overwhelmed and lacks critical medical supplies. Dr. Mohamed Saker, head of the hospital's nursing department, said most of Saturday's casualties were in critical condition. 'The situation is tragic,' he told the the Israeli military said it struck 90 targets across Gaza in the past 24 hours, including alleged militant positions in Gaza City and the humanitarian crisis continues to deepen. Food insecurity experts warn of famine as over 2 million Palestinians face severe shortages. Hamas: Zionist Enemy Massacres Against Civilians Brutal Perpetration of Genocide

Doha – Saba: The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) condemned the ongoing massacres by the fascist Zionist enemy army in the Gaza Strip and the deaths of dozens of civilians, particularly in the Shati refugee camp, Hamas denounced the "targeting of a gathering of innocent children with an airstrike that led to the martyrdom and injury of dozens of them." In a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), Hamas also considered the "horrific massacre committed Tuesday evening against starving civilians around the American-Zionist point controlling humanitarian aid north of Rafah to be a reaffirmation of the brutality of this mechanism and its criminal objectives, and the need for the international community to take action to stop it and hold those responsible accountable." Hezbollah and FPM respond to Barrack's remarks

by Naharnet Newsdesk 14 July 2025, 13:40 MP Ibrahim al-Moussawi of Hezbollah said U.S. envoy Tom Barrack's latest remarks about Lebanon risking being swallowed by regional forces were 'not surprising at all,' accusing Washington of having 'evil plots.' He added that Barrack's 'bizarre' statement 'contradicts with the simplest rules of logic and the principles of politics and diplomacy,' adding that it reflects 'dangerous intentions and clearly unveils the features of the American-Zionist scheme planned for the region in general and Lebanon in particular.' 'Lebanon is a country that cannot be threatened and it does not bargain over its sovereignty. It is rather the country of resistance, pride and resilience,' Moussawi added, addressing Barrack. He also urged a 'firm and strong response' from the Lebanese state, calling on the Foreign Ministry to immediately summon the U.S. ambassador to Lebanon to reject these 'hostile and insolent statements.' Prominent Free Patriotic Movement sources meanwhile told al-Akhbar newspaper that the FPM will confront 'any attempt by Syria to put its hand on any grain of Lebanon's soil.' 'Let no one threaten us with the repetition of experiences that had failed in the past,' the sources added, noting that 'the threat of annexing Lebanon to Syria is unnecessary, detrimental and does not contribute to solutions in Lebanon.' Barrack has clarified that his remarks were not a 'threat to Lebanon.' 'My comments yesterday praised Syria's impressive strides, not a threat to Lebanon. I observed the reality that Syria is moving at light speed to seize the historic opportunity presented by @POTUS's (U.S. President Donald Trump's) lifting of sanctions: investment from Türkiye and the Gulf, diplomatic outreach to neighboring countries, and a clear vision for the future,' Barrack said in a post on X. 'I can assure that Syria's leaders only want co-existence and mutual prosperity with Lebanon, and the United States is committed to supporting that relationship between two equal and sovereign neighbors enjoying peace and prosperity,' Barrack added. He had warned in an interview with the UAE's The National newspaper that Lebanon risks being swallowed by regional powers unless it acts to address Hezbollah's arms and implement reforms. 'You have Israel on one side, you have Iran on the other, and now you have Syria manifesting itself so quickly that if Lebanon doesn't move, it's going to be Bilad Al Sham again,' he said, using the historical name for the Syria region. 'Syrians say Lebanon is our beach resort. So we need to move. And I know how frustrated the Lebanese people are. It frustrates me,' he added.

Blood Covenant: Iranian website raises $40M bounty to assassinate Trump

A shadowy Iranian website calling itself Blood Covenant, or Blood Pact, has sparked international alarm after announcing a USD 100 million bounty for the assassination of US President Donald Trump. The platform claims to have already raised over USD 40 million from supporters, although the figures remain unverified and the site's operators are unknown. The campaign, launched in response to what it calls 'American-Zionist infanticide' and threats against Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, describes its goal as delivering 'justice' to those who have harmed Iran and its leadership. The website declares, 'We pledge to award the bounty to anyone who can bring the enemies of God and those who threaten the life of Ali Khamenei to justice.' The website denies any affiliation with official bodies and frames its campaign as a grassroots response to years of what it describes as 'US state terrorism.' One message on the site reads, 'This campaign is not funding terrorism. It is funding the fight against U.S. state terrorism.' Another post justifies the campaign in emotional and ideological terms, 'Silent in the face of American-Zionist infanticide, assassination of scientists and high-ranking commanders… now they are worried about Trump's life and are bewilderedly condemning the campaign.' In an attempt to cool international tensions, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian distanced his administration from the any assassination campaigns during an interview with US media personality Tucker Carlson earlier this week. 'The fatwa of warfare has nothing to do with the Iranian government or the Supreme Leader,' Pezeshkian said.
