ECU's Norby, Burress named to Perfect Game All-America Teams
GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — Two ECU baseball players were named to All-American Teams through Perfect Game Tuesday, June 10, 2025. Freshman Braden Burress and sophomore pitcher Ethan Norby earned the honors as Norby made the Third Team All-America and Burress the Second Team Freshman All-America. Both are set to return next year for the Pirates. Norby went 8-5 with a 3.80 ERA and 119 strikeouts with only 22 walks in 90 innings of work. ECU's Burress named to Freshman All-American Team
DALLAS, Texas (WNCT) — ECU's freshman outfielder Braden Burress has been selected to the 2025 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association First Team Monday, June 9, 2025. Burress is the 23rd freshman All-American honoree in program history and seventh since 2020. Burress, from Snow Hill, led all freshmen nationally in batting average (.389) and 31st among all NCAA Division I players heading into the College World Series. He also is 55th nationally in on-base percentage (.488) and total hits (82). Burress helped lead the Pirates to their fourth American Athletic Conference Tournament championship. He was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player after hitting .450 (9-for-20) with six runs scored, a double, two home runs and five RBI in four games. PJ Haggerty, Dain Dainja and No. 16 Memphis win AAC tourney with a 84-72 win over UAB
FORT WORTH, Texas — While Memphis was a lock to make the NCAA Tournament even before tipping off in the American Athletic Conference Tournament championship game, coach Penny Hardaway and the 16th-ranked Tigers got another trophy on the way to Seattle. PJ Haggerty scored 23 points and Dain Dainja had another double-double with 22 points and 12 rebounds as the Tigers beat UAB 84-72 on Sunday to wrap up the tournament after also winning the league's regular-season title for the first time.

UAB (22-11) will face No. 16 and top-seeded Memphis (28-5) in the title game on Sunday. Ja'Borri McGhee added 16 points and six rebounds for the Blazers. Brenen Lorient finished with 12 points, 11 rebounds and two steals for the Mean Green (24-8). North Texas also got 12 points from Atin Wright. Jasper Floyd also had nine points. The loss snapped the Mean Green's seven-game winning streak. The score was 30-20 at halftime, with McGhee racking up 10 points.
