Kuwait Club renews Al-Dhafiri and Al-Hoshan contracts ahead of new season

KUWAIT CITY, June 18: Kuwait Club has officially renewed the contracts of veteran midfielder Ahmed Al-Dhafiri and standout goalkeeper Saud Al-Hoshan, though the club has not disclosed the duration or financial terms of the agreements. Al-Dhafiri, 33, has been a consistent performer for the "Whites" since joining from Al-Qadsiya three seasons ago. His experience and leadership played a crucial role in the Kuwait Club's historic treble in the 2024–2025 season, which included the Super Cup, Zain Premier League title, and the Crown Prince Cup. He also helped the team reach the final of the Amir Cup, which was postponed due to the current regional circumstances. Previously, Al-Dhafiri enjoyed a long stint with Al-Qadsiya from 2013 to 2022, including a loan move to Saudi Arabia's Al-Qadsiya in 2017. On the international stage, he has earned 63 caps with the Kuwait national team, scoring three goals. Throughout his club career, Al-Dhafiri contributed to multiple championship victories. With Al-Qadsia, he secured league titles in the 2013–14 and 2015–16 seasons, the Federation Cup in 2018–19, the Amir Cup in 2014–15, the Crown Prince Cup in 2013–14 and 2017–18, and the prestigious AFC Cup and Super Cup in 2014. Meanwhile, goalkeeper Saud Al-Hoshan has solidified his place as a key figure in Kuwait Club's starting lineup. His impressive performances have also earned him recent call-ups to the national team, reflecting his growing prominence between the posts. The renewal of both contracts signals Kuwait SC's commitment to maintaining a stable and competitive squad heading into the new season.

Kuwait Club seeks clean sweep as Al-Arabi hopes to end trophy drought in Amir Cup final

KUWAIT CITY, June 12: Kuwait Club and Al-Arabi have intensified their preparations ahead of their much-anticipated Amir Cup final, scheduled for Monday at 7:15 pm at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium. Both clubs finalized their squads following the return of their international players. Kuwait SC's delegation returned from Seoul after concluding their campaign in the 2026 World Cup Asian qualifiers, while Al-Arabi welcomed back its national team stars as well. Kuwait Club players returning: Saud Al-Hoshan, Fahad Al-Hajri, Ahmed Al-Dhafiri, Ahmed Al-Zanki, Youssef Nasser, Mohammed Daham, Reda Hani, Mishari Ghannam. Al-Arabi players returning: Suleiman Abdul Ghafoor, Abdul Wahab Al-Awadhi Hassan Hamdan, Mohammed Al-Nassar, Hussein Ashkanani, Youssef Majed. Uncertainty surrounds the participation of Youssef Nasser and Hassan Hamdan in the final. Nasser suffered an injury during Kuwait's recent match against South Korea and did not complete the game, while Hamdan was sidelined entirely. Kuwait Club is chasing a historic domestic quadruple, having already secured the Zain Premier League, Crown Prince Cup, and Super Cup this season. A win in the Amir Cup final would cap off a dominant campaign. Al-Arabi, on the other hand, is aiming for redemption after finishing as runner-up in both the league and the Crown Prince Cup. Despite the setbacks, the club recently made a notable jump of 57 spots in the IFFHS global club rankings, now sitting at 411th worldwide and leading all Kuwaiti clubs. The team also made a deep run in the Asian Challenge League, bowing out in the semifinals to Tajikistan's Arkadag.
