Deputy Commissioner of Police (southwest) Amit Goel said that on Wednesday, around 6.30 am, Vasant Kunj North police station got information regarding a threatening email received by Vasant Valley School. Later, the police personnel, bomb disposal team (BDT), fire tender, and cyber team were called for inspection. The CCTV footage from the premises was reviewed and a comprehensive search was conducted, but no suspicious object or substance was found. Teams are working to find the alleged sender of the email, the DCP said. The senior officers said that the emails were sent using encrypted networks, making them hard to track. Cyber experts of the Delhi Police and senior officers investigating the threats said the senders are using Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) and the dark web. A senior Delhi Police officer said, 'We were tracking the emails, but VPN makes it difficult to track their origin. We also had to check for any possible terror link'.

Heerapura terminal raises concerns over traffic chaos
1 2 Jaipur: Residents near the Heerapura terminal have raised concerns over worsening traffic congestion following the state govt's decision to start operations at the terminal from Aug 1. They fear the terminal will heavily burden the already congested service lanes near the Bhankrota and Kamla Nehru Nagar flyovers, along with their underpasses. As per the traffic plan, buses from Jaipur towards Ajmer will use the side lanes of the Kamla Nehru Nagar flyover to access the terminal and then exit via the Bhankrota flyover service lanes. Buses coming from Ajmer will take U-turns at the Kamla Nehru flyover underpass to reach the terminal. Those heading to Jaipur will take U-turns at the Bhankrota flyover underpass to join the Jaipur-bound flank (200-Feet Bypass Crossing-bound) of the Ajmer Highway. Locals argue that traffic already moves slowly due to rapid population growth on both sides of the expressway. They warn that the additional load from terminal operations could turn daily commuting into a nightmare for nearby residents. "Now, traffic surge would stem from various vehicles, including long-distance buses, private minibuses, JCTSL buses, autos, Tata Magic vehicles, and cabs, which will utilise the crowded service lanes near Bhankrota flyover and Kamla Nehru Nagar flyover, including their underpasses. These service lanes and underpasses are not equipped to handle even movements of small vehicles and SUVs. How would it sustain such a huge volume?" questioned Amit Goel, a local resident. A senior official from the transport department said, it would be a 'traffic disaster' once this bus terminal opens. "RITES conducted a survey and asked the govt to develop this terminal properly before commencing any services from here. Accordingly, the govt approached a private multinational transport services provider. Unfortunately, this private company refused to develop it, stating a lack of feasibility. With no other options left, the govt now decided to commence services from here hastily," the official added.

Police said Wednesday that a 26-year-old man was arrested from South West Delhi last month, after a 19-year-old girl, who knew him, attempted suicide by consuming acid. The accused was arrested on June 25 under Section 69 (sexual intercourse by employing deceitful means) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with Section 6 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. The case came to light after the police received a medico-legal case from a hospital about a 19-year-old girl's attempt to end her life. In the FIR registered on June 25, the girl's mother has accused the man of sexually assaulting her daughter on the pretext of marriage and blackmailing her. Woman's suicide bid: Man, 25, held for sexual assault
A 25-year-old man was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting on the pretext of marriage and blackmailing a 19-year-old woman, who attempted suicide by consuming acid at her home in southwest Delhi's Rangpuri area on June 18, Delhi Police confirmed on Wednesday. The case came to light when the victim's mother filed a complaint at Vasant Kunj police station on June 25. (FILE) The case came to light when the woman, battling severe injuries, was admitted to Safdarjung Hospital, where she remains critical. According to police, the accused had been in a relationship with the woman for seven years – when she was a minor – and had allegedly promised to marry her. However, when she confronted him about his refusal to follow through, he threatened to leak her private photos and videos, pushing her into 'depression'. The woman consumed acid at her home on June 18 and has been undergoing treatment at Safdarjung Hospital since then, where doctors describe her condition as critical. The case came to light when the victim's mother filed a complaint at Vasant Kunj police station on June 25. In her first information report, the mother stated that neighbours alerted her after finding her daughter in severe pain next to a bottle of acid. The victim was first taken to a nearby hospital before being referred to Safdarjung Hospital, where doctors reportedly gave her only a 10% chance of survival, the woman's mother said in the FIR, a copy of which was seen by HT. All of this happened because of (accused)… he had promised to marry my daughter… They have been in a relationship for seven years… We want justice. He also blackmailed my daughter and would threaten to leak her private videos,' the FIR said. The FIR further alleges that the accused, who worked as an airport loader but is currently unemployed, forced the woman to undergo two abortions during their relationship. Police recovered voice recordings from the victim's phone that allegedly corroborate the blackmail claims. Deputy commissioner of police (southwest) Amit Goel confirmed that authorities were first notified about the acid consumption case on June 18. 'An MLC information was received from regarding a suicide attempt by a 19-year-old woman who had consumed acid. The investigating officer reached the hospital, collected the MLC and found the woman was unfit for statement. Our enquiry revealed that the victim was in a relationship with a man which led to her being depressed,' Goel said. After analysing her phone and gathering evidence, police arrested the 25-year-old from his Rangpur Pahari residence on June 25, the same day the FIR was registered. The case has been filed under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (pertaining to sexual intercourse by deceitful means) and Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act, as the relationship reportedly began when the victim was a minor. At the hospital, the victim's mother told HT that the accused had been harassing her daughter for years. 'We trusted him… I had met him before and he assured me that he would marry her, but instead used private photos to blackmail her. When she confronted him, he threatened to kill us,' she said.
