Crime Alert: Tips sought in Reading shooting, Amity robbery
Crime Alert Berks County, a citizen crime-fighting group, is offering cash rewards of up to $10,000 to anyone supplying tips that lead to an arrest in these cases or any other case or crime. Tipsters with crime information can call 877-373-9913 anytime or contact Crime Alert at its website at or via the AlertBerks smartphone app. No one will ask the name of the caller, who will be assigned a code number. Unsolved cases are featured regularly in the Sunday Reading Eagle. Offense: Fatal shooting Location: 1200 block of Oak Lane, Reading Date and time: June 22 at about 5 a.m. Police synopsis: Reading police are investigating the fatal shooting of Melvyn Frazier, 21, of Lynchburg, Va. There were reports of an altercation involving several people prior to the shooting. Police are seeking information from anyone involved, anyone who may have witnessed the incident or anyone who may have information. Those with information are asked to contact Crime Alert or the Reading police Criminal Investigations Division at 610-655-6116. Amity robbery Amity Township police are seeking the public's assistance in identifying this suspect in a gas station robbery early Friday morning. He has a black beard and tattoos and is about 5 feet 10 inches with a heavy build. Police synopsis: Amity Township police said the suspect displayed a handgun and robbed the gas station of an undetermined amount of cash. The suspect was last seen running towards Route 422. Police seek tips in eastern Berks robbery
Amity Township police are seeking information in connection with a robbery early Friday at the Speedway gas station, 1028 Ben Franklin Highway, which is part of Route 422. Investigators gave this account: At about 1:20 a.m., a suspect displaying a handgun robbed the store of an undetermined amount of cash. He is described as a Black male, about 5 feet 10 inches with a heavy build, wearing black pants and shirt and a black shirt over the top of his head. He has a black beard and tattoos on his left arm and both hands. He was last seen running from the store towards Rt. 422. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Amity police at 610-655-4911. Tornado touched down in Berks County, Pennsylvania, National Weather Service says

The NWS in Mount Holly, New Jersey, finished a storm survey on Wednesday and said that the tornado happened in Amity Township at around 4:47 p.m. The tornado had 70 mph winds, according to the NWS. The NWS said more details about the tornado in Amity Township will be released on Thursday. Earlier on Wednesday, the NWS confirmed that a different tornado touched down in Sussex County, Delaware, at around 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The EF-0 storm happened in Frankford, Delaware, which is roughly 10 miles west of Bethany Beach. The tornado had winds of 65 mph and went about a half mile, according to the NWS. The tornado had a width of 100 yards. According to the NWS, the tornado touched down along Omar Road and moved southeast to a heavily forested area on Shockley Town Road. The storm twisted and snapped several large branches in the area. The tornado might've damaged other parts of the forest, but the survey team was unable to access the area.
