KUALA LUMPUR: A man and a traffic policeman took it upon themselves to protect road users from a deep, concealed pothole on Jalan Conlay, near Prince Court Medical Centre, an act that was captured in a now-viral video. TikTok user Ammar Anas said he was riding along the road yesterday when he spotted what he described as a "scary" pothole, so deep it was filled with twigs and leaves, resembling a bird's nest. "The pothole wasn't visible to the naked eye while riding along the road," he said. Ammar said he immediately pulled over to take a photo when a traffic policeman approached him and asked what was going on. "I was riding and saw this dangerous hole. "I stopped briefly to take a picture, and suddenly a police officer showed up. He immediately placed a plastic barricade over it to alert other motorists and prevent any accidents," he said. Ammar also urged other road users to report similar hazards through the MyJalan KKR mobile application. Netizens have since praised the duo's commitment to safeguarding other road users. User @izalin5242 said their actions constituted a form of charity. "Removing danger from public pathways is a form of charity, according to a hadith," she said. Another user, @canyouseeme, described the pothole as a deadly trap for motorcyclists. "This is truly a trap for riders. If you're unlucky, it could cost your life," he said. Meanwhile, user @Grand_H urged the public to always stay alert and aware of their surroundings. "For the safety of the people, let's all keep an eye on our surroundings," he said. User @orenmisaki, on the other hand, highlighted a similar situation along Jalan Salak–Sepang, where numerous potholes pose a hazard to motorists. "There are many potholes along Jalan Salak–Sepang. "The road upgrade project has been ongoing for ages but still isn't finished."
