Stress on shared responsibility in nurturing students
Vijayawada: Andhra Loyola College hosted a Mega Parent-Teacher Meeting for Intermediate students here on Thursday aimed at strengthening the crucial collaboration between parents and the institution. The event was characterised by insightful discussions and a shared commitment to fostering responsible citizens. The meeting was inaugurated by Rector Fr Dr PR John, who extended warm Guru Purnima greetings and underscored the importance of shared responsibility in nurturing students. Correspondent Fr Dr A Rex Anjilo highlighted that the future rests in the hands of children. Principal Fr Dr S Melchior addressed the critical transitional phase for students who have recently completed Class10. He emphasised the need for continuous parental vigilance and moral guidance to help students navigate uncertainties and grow into responsible individuals. Vice-Principal Fr Suresh Kumar shared his personal journey as a Loyola alumnus, illustrating how parental support and Loyola's educational values can profoundly transform a student's life. Pratibha Award winners P Jayashree, K Bunny, and M Varshita were felicitated alongside their parents. Prashanthi, a student's mother, expressed her gratitude for the Talliki Vandanam support received through the government's welfare schemes. TheTalliki Vandanam pledge was administered by Telugu lecturer Joseph.

LC organises anti-drug awareness programme with EAGLE
Vijayawada: In a significant effort to combat drug abuse and illicit trafficking, Andhra Loyola College (ALC) here in collaboration with the Elite Anti-narcotics Group for Law Enforcement (EAGLE), Government of Andhra Pradesh, organised a large-scale awareness programme on 'Illicit Trafficking of Ganja and Drug Abuse'. The event was aimed at educating and empowering young minds against the perils of narcotics. Addressing the youth, Inspector General of Police of EAGLE Ake Ravi Krishna stated 'Your generation is the hope of this nation. Stay alert, stay clean, and be the warriors who fight not only against drugs but also against peer pressure and wrong choices. The courage to say 'No' today will shape your tomorrow.' He encouraged students to become active ambassadors for drug-free campuses and to safeguard their future. KGV Saritha, Deputy Commissioner of Police, emphasised the critical role of 'community responsibility and vigilance in preventing drug abuse.' Nagesh Babu, Superintendent of Police, EAGLE urged students 'to report suspicious activities without fear and contribute to building a safer society.' Bala Latha Mallavarapu, Director of CSB IAS Academy, inspired the youth with her words, 'Your mind is your greatest asset; keep it sharp and free from anything that clouds your vision.' Rector of ALC Fr Dr PR John, Founder Director, YES-J Fr Bollineni Bala, and Vice-Principal Fr G Kiran Kumar also motivated the students to build meaningful lives rooted in strong ethical values. Students, who successfully completed the Certificate Course on 'Narcotic Drugs: Awareness, Impact, and Legal Frameworks' were felicitated. This course, offered by the Department of Chemistry as part of the Ethics and Value Education curriculum, recognised students for their commitment to social responsibility and their understanding of the complexities surrounding narcotic drugs. The Eagle Cell of Andhra Loyola College extended its sincere gratitude to Principal Dr S Melchior, Vice-Principal Fr B Suresh, Fr G Rayappa, Head of Department of Visual Communications, Dr K Rayappa Reddy, Head of Department of Chemistry and the teaching staff of the Intermediate wing for their unwavering support and guidance in equipping students with essential knowledge and values.

Melchior assumes charge as ALC principal
Vijayawada: Andhra Loyola College (ALC) marked a significant transition on Monday as Fr Dr S Melchior assumed office as the new Principal during the annual faculty orientation programme held at the seminar hall here. Correspondent Fr Dr M Sagayaraj welcomed Fr Melchior, commending his unwavering dedication to Jesuit education. Fr Melchior brings a wealth of experience, holding postgraduate degrees in Management and Psychology, and a Ph D in Human Resource Management. His extensive prior roles at ALC include Vice-Principal for six years, Director of ALCAA, Sports Director, Secretary of Loyola Society, Hostel Warden, and Professor of Management. Speaking on the occasion, Fr Melchior emphasised the core Jesuit educational pillars: value-based learning, academic excellence, and holistic formation. He urged faculty to nurture students in line with the Jesuit ideal of 'cura personalis' – care for the whole person – to foster ethical, purposeful, and socially responsible graduates. He also outlined plans for collaborative initiatives with premier Jesuit institutions both in India and abroad, envisioning growth through strategic partnerships. Rector Fr Dr PR John, chairman of the Staff Association Dr G Sahaya Baskaran, Academic Officer of APSCHE Srirangamand Dean of Student Activities Dr L Subha also participated.

Sagayaraj new principal of Loyola Public School
Guntur: Loyola Public School, Nallapadu, welcomed its new Principal Fr Dr M Sagayaraj, in a formal ceremony attended by Fr Dr Pothy Antony Reddy, Rector, and Fr P Sresh Kumar, the outgoing Principal. Fr Sagayaraj brings over three decades of rich experience in education and leadership. He has served as the longest Correspondent of Andhra Loyola College and has held key roles including Principal of Loyola College, Karimnagar, and Senate Member of Satavahana University. With three postgraduate degrees and a doctorate in Education, he is a University Gold Medalist and a noted academician, speaker, and researcher. Currently the Regional Secretary for the Telugu Catholic Bishops Conference (TCBC) Education Commission, Fr Sagayaraj has led numerous seminars on education, ethics, and child protection. His appointment is expected to further Loyola Public School's commitment to academic excellence and holistic development, according to a press release.
