Bryan Mbeumo sends message to Thomas Frank as second Man Utd bid is rejected
Manchester United have seen a second bid for Bryan Mbeumo rejected but the Brentford star remains determined to move to Old Trafford this summer. Having already signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves, United have made Mbeumo a top target for Ruben Amorim's new-look attack next season. An opening offer of £45million plus £10m in add-ons was rejected by the Bees with The Athletic reporting a second proposal of £55m plus £7.5m in bonuses has also been turned away. Talks are continuing however with belief a compromise can be found. Mbeumo, who scored 20 Premier League goals last season, has also attracted interest from Arsenal, Newcastle United and Tottenham with it quickly emerging the Cameroon international favours a move to Old Trafford. The appointment of Thomas Frank as new Tottenham boss threatened to derail United's efforts amid hopes the forward would be tempted by a reunion with his former Brentford boss in north London. However, Mbeumo has now informed Frank and Brentford that if he is to leave the Gtech Stadium this summer, it will only be to join United. The report adds Spurs have denied making any offer for the player at this stage. United struggled badly in front of goal last season with only Everton and the three relegated sides scoring less than them. Cunha and Mbeumo hit 35 between them in the league campaign – just nine short of United's total tally of 44. Adding goals has been a priority but changes could also be made in goal following another poor season for Andre Onana. If you were able to get your hands on him, then I think that's possibly a no-brainer.'

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has shocked fans after he was seen playing as a striker in a game in his native Cameroon. Onana, 29, came in for criticism for his performances in goal for the Red Devils last season as they recorded a worst-ever Premier League finish of 15th. But fans have praised his outfield ability after footage of him playing as a centre-forward was posted to TikTok on Wednesday. Standing at 6'3'', Onana could be seen using his heigh and strength to impressively shield the ball when it was played into him with his back to a defender. The Cameroon international also exhibited a number of impressive touches to draw fouls from his opponents. Reacting to the video, one user joked: 'Better ball handling than Hojlund'. A second joked: 'They should send the full team here to train'. A third added: 'United have rubbish strikers so they should play Onana up front'. The clip comes after Onana had been linked with a potential move to either a club in the Saudi Pro League or Ligue 1 side Monaco. The club appear to be unconvinced by neither Radoslaw Majecki nor Philipp Kohn as their number one, with CEO Thiago Scuro confirming that a new goalkeeper is a priority this summer. Chelsea's Djordje Petrovic has also been considered after returning from his loan spell with Strasbourg. He is not expected to have a future at Stamford Bridge. The former Inter and Ajax stopper is currently on holiday but he was stopped for a quick chat by reporter Stephane Bassalia Ouattara last week. When quizzed about whether he might be departing United this summer, a smiling Onana replied in French: 'Will I leave? I don't know, we'll see!' The Cameroonian has started 72 Premier League games for United since signing from Inter Milan in July 2023, keeping 18 clean sheets. Significant changes are expected at United this summer with manager Ruben Amorim looking to overhaul his squad following a desperately disappointing season.

Tom Heaton signs one-year contract extension at Manchester United
Manchester United goalkeeper Tom Heaton has signed a new one-year contract extension, taking his stay with the club until 2026. The 39-year-old extends his second spell at the club into a fifth season, having re-joined the team in 2021 after initially coming through the academy and leaving Old Trafford without making a first-team appearance in 2010. 'I am ready to support the team in every capacity as we prepare to get back to challenging for the biggest honours.' Heaton has operated as United's second and third-choice goalkeeper since his return, making three first-team appearances. He has not featured for United's senior team in the past two seasons, making a single appearance for the under-21 side in the EFL Trophy during that time. The former Aston Villa goalkeeper played 45 minutes in United's matches against ASEAN All-Stars and Hong Kong during the postseason tour of Asia. His last competitive first-team outing came in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg victory over Nottingham Forest in 2023. Heaton acted as United's third-choice goalkeeper behind Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir following their arrivals in 2023 from Inter Milan and Fenerbahce respectively. Onana made 49 appearances for United during the 2024-25 campaign, while Bayindir featured in 10 matches. Before his return to Old Trafford, Heaton made 200 appearances for Burnley across six seasons in the Premier League and Championship. He also featured 20 times for Villa, following spells with Bristol City, Cardiff City and Wycombe Wanderers.
