Jase Richardson speaks to media before Orlando Magic Summer League
It's kind of surreal to see Jase Richardson in front of an Orlando Magic logo instead of a Spartan helmet, and pretty soon, it's going to be even stranger when we get to see Richardson play against fellow pro basketball players at the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. Richardson, who was drafted No. 25 overall by the Orlando Magic not even two weeks ago, will be one of the featured players in summer league, as NBA fans and analysts flock from around the world to see the latest crop of first round picks in action and see who the next breakout star will be. Richardson in particular has a lot of intrigue around him as a player who came into the draft process with a lot of lottery-buzz, but ultimately fell towards the end of the second round. Advertisement Before summer league, Richardson caught up with the media and covered topics like what he's focused on in practice and in this summer league, what match-ups he is looking forward to, and more. NCAA adding special one-time transfer window this summer
On Wednesday, the NCAA announced that they are opening a one-time transfer portal window this summer, from July 7 to August 5, for athletes that Division I programs have placed on a special 'Designated Student-Athletes' list. Ross Dellenger of Yahoo! Sports reported that an athlete is eligible to be placed on a designated student-athlete list if he/she would have or had already been removed from the school's roster due to the new House-mandated roster limits, and was also an eligible member of the team during the 2024-25 season, and/or recruited and assured a 2025-26 roster spot by the program. So, some more confusing language from the NCAA around the already confusing transfer portal rules, but this could be another opportunity for players to move around the league if they aren't happy with their position on their current roster. Spartans Wire crew predicts MSU-Auburn NCAA Tournament Elite 8 game
Spartans Wire crew predicts MSU-Auburn NCAA Tournament Elite 8 game Check out our predictions for this Elite 8 NCAA Tournament matchup between the Spartans and Tigers Michigan State basketball will look to cut down the nets on Sunday afternoon -- do we think they'll get it done? The Spartans and Tigers will battle it out for a spot in the Final Four on Sunday afternoon. Michigan State and Auburn both needed second half rallies in their Sweet 16 matchups, with the Spartans topping Ole Miss and the Tigers beating Michigan. Tip off between Michigan State and Auburn is scheduled for 5:05 p.m. ET on Sunday. The game will be televised on CBS. Michigan State comes into this Final Four matchup as an underdog for the first time in over a month. Will Michigan State be cutting down nets on Sunday or will their season be coming to a close? Check out our predictions below: Robert Bondy This is going to be a battle between a pair of National Championship contenders, and I really could see this game going either way. The one thing I worry about with the Spartans is their inability to get off to a fast start, and if that happens again, then Auburn will bury them. This is a coin flip for me and I'll go with the Tigers (hoping I'm wrong). Prediction: Auburn 74, Michigan State 71 Andrew Brewster Obviously, this will be the biggest test MSU has faced in the tournament. If we're being honest, it's the biggest test they've faced all year. Auburn is physical, they crash the boards, and they can really score it. That being said, this MSU team has handled everything that has been thrown at them this year and I think they can do it again here. Prediction: Michigan State 75, Auburn 72 Cory Linsner Michigan State is due for a good day offensively, and I think it can come against the style Auburn will play. This is going to be one of, if not the most talented team the Spartans will have played to date. Ultimately, I think the Spartans will be the more physical team, along with being the more mentally strong team, and that is going to prove to be the difference down the stretch. Prediction: Michigan State 84, Auburn 79 Contact/Follow us @The SpartansWire on X (formerly Twitter) and like our page on Facebook to follow ongoing coverage of Michigan State news, notes and opinion.
