Theft charges filed on Indiana State Trooper
ST. JOSEPH COUNTY — An Indiana State trooper faces charges of theft, obstruction of justice and fraud following a lengthy investigation.
Investigators with the Indiana State Police began an investigation in mid-October 2024 into allegations of theft against Andrew G. Kocsis, 39, when contacted by an alleged victim of theft.
Kocsis has been an Indiana State trooper since 2008 and most recently has been assigned to the agency's General Headquarters in Indianapolis, a statement from Indiana State Police reads.
Special Prosecutor James D. Luttrull, of Marion, was assigned to this case and on June 16, charges were filed in St. Joseph County Superior Court. Probable cause was found for charges of theft, Level 6 felony, obstruction of justice, Level 6 felony, and fraud, Class A misdemeanor. Kocsis has been given an initial court date of July 8.
Kocsis will be placed on administrative leave without pay until the conclusion of the criminal proceedings and an internal investigation, ISP stated.
