All preps done for e-voting in Buxar: DM

Buxar: Bihar State Election Commission is set to roll out an e-voting system using an Android-based application for the first time in the state. The pilot initiative will be implemented during the by-elections scheduled for June 28, for the posts of deputy chief councillor and ward councillor of the Buxar Nagar Parishad. With this, Bihar will become the first state in the country to adopt e-voting in an official electoral process. Buxar DM Vidya Nand Singh, said that all necessary preparations have been completed to ensure a smooth and transparent e-voting process. The district administration has set up 136 polling stations for the election. Approximately 13,000 eligible voters — including senior citizens above 80 years of age, persons with disabilities, pregnant women, critically ill individuals, and migrant workers—will have the option to cast their votes via a dedicated mobile application. Voters must complete prior registration to avail of the digital voting facility. The e-voting window will remain open from 7am to 1pm on June 28, while counting of votes is scheduled for June 30. "The mobile application developed for this initiative ensures both confidentiality and security. Votes cast electronically will be encrypted and locked immediately, and will only be decrypted during the official counting process to maintain the integrity and secrecy of the election," said the DM.

‘e-Registration' mobile app launched by CM Majhi

BHUBANESWAR: In a move to streamline registration process of landed property online and in a transparent manner, the state government on Wednesday launched the 'e-Registration' application which offers a wide range of services from anywhere without having to visit the sub-registrar's office. Launching the Android-based mobile application developed by the Revenue and Disaster Management department at Lok Seva Bhawan here, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said this is a significant milestone in the state government's digital service delivery. 'Through this mobile application, users can book slots for registration deeds, apply for certified copies, encumbrance certificates, check benchmark land values and a range of other services from the comfort of their homes. The app also provides complete information about the nearest sub-registrar office, details of the property including land description, area, valuation and ownership status of a particular property,' he added. He further said the application will provide all information about applicable stamp duty and registration fees based on the property details. The user can make online payments without visiting the sub-registrar office or taking assistance of any revenue officials or middlemen, he added. With the app making the system paperless and cashless, the CM said people will no longer have to queue up or make multiple visits to the sub-registrar's office. 'The e-Registration app is now available in the Google play store for download and efforts are on to make the app available for iPhone users soon,' Majhi added. Releasing a booklet highlighting the achievements of the Revenue department in the first year, the chief minister said land pattas have been provided to 16,727 homeless individuals through Basundhara scheme and permanent record of rights (RoRs) issued to 20,385 government schools and colleges.

FBI warns of hidden 'malicious' threats lurking in widely used devices

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has issued a public service announcement alerting Americans to a growing cyber threat that may already be inside their homes – and it's a threat many people don't even realise. According to the FBI, cybercriminals are hijacking TV streaming sticks, digital projectors, digital picture frames and more to launch malicious online activity through an evolving botnet known as BADBOX 2.0. BADBOX was first discovered in 2023 and disrupted in 2024, but the new 2.0 version has resurfaced with more advanced techniques, according to the FBI. It continues to exploit Android-based devices, especially those not certified by Google Play Protect or promoted as 'unlocked' streaming tools capable of accessing free content, the bureau said. The botnet, which reportedly consists of millions of compromised devices, allows criminals to create proxy networks out of unsuspecting users' home connections, the FBI said. The networks can then be exploited or sold to other criminals, enabling illegal activity that appears to originate from an innocent home network, according to the FBI. Most of the infected devices were manufactured in China and are either preloaded with malware before purchase or compromised during setup through the download of unofficial apps, the FBI said. Once connected, the devices can silently become part of the BADBOX 2.0 botnet, giving criminals a hidden doorway into personal networks, the bureau added. The FBI advised users to evaluate all devices in their home, especially those from unfamiliar or off-brand manufacturers, and watch for signs such as unusual Internet traffic, requests to disable Google security settings, or the use of unofficial app stores. To reduce risk, experts recommended keeping firmware and operating systems up to date, avoiding unofficial app downloads, and monitoring home network activity regularly. Anyone who suspects they may have been affected is encouraged to report the incident to the FBI through the Internet Crime Complaint Center. – News Service

Is Trump Mobile available in Tennessee? What about the T1 phone? What to know

President Donald Trump's family brand, the Trump Organization, has launched another revenue stream, Trump Mobile. The newly unveiled cellular service and mobile phone under the company umbrella uses Trump's name and his time in the White House to help advertise the latest business venture. Trump Mobile is expected to offer a network 5G service with "The 47 Plan," along with its own smartphone. "Trump Mobile is going to change the game, we're building on the movement to put America first, and we will deliver the highest levels of quality and service," Donald Trump Jr. said in a news release. Here's a look into the mobile plan and whether it will be available in Tennessee. Trump Mobile is an e-SIM card that is compatible with most Android phones. Here's what the Trump Organization says it will include: Unlimited talk, text and data Complete device protection 24/7 roadside assistance through Drive America Telehealth services, including virtual medical care, mental health support, and easy ordering and delivery for prescription medications Free International calling to more than 100 countries, including many with American military bases No contracts, no credit check According to the Trump Mobile website, people wanting to switch can call 888-TRUMP45 to talk to someone about getting Trump Mobile. Yes, Trump Mobile is available in Tennessee for those with Android-based devices. The gold smartphone, the organization has dubbed the "T1," is not yet available.
