Amazon is offering a like-new Kindle Paperwhite 2024 for just $107
With less than a week until Prime Day kicks off, we're already seeing some exciting early deals pop up. And now we can add two more great discounts to the list: the refurbished ad-supported Kindle Paperwhite is down to $106.99 ($37 off) at Amazon, while the refurbished Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition is $126.99 ($53 off) at Amazon. Both discounts bring the like-new e-readers to all-time lows — just in time to read Andy Weir's Project Hail Mary before the movie adaptation hits theaters next year. The Kindle Paperwhite is one of our favorite e-readers, especially for those who are already in the Kindle ecosystem. It offers a large 7-inch display, sharp 300ppi resolution, and an adjustable warm white front light, making it more comfortable to read in different environments. It's also waterproof, so you can read while lounging by the pool, which I plan to do a lot of this summer. Meanwhile, the battery is rated to last for up to 12 weeks on a single charge, though your mileage may vary depending on your reading habits. If you don't want ads on your e-reader, the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition offers an ad-free experience — plus a few other goodies that the standard Kindle Paperwhite doesn't. For starters, the Signature Edition has double the storage, so you can download even more books, PDFs, and audiobooks, which you can listen to with Bluetooth headphones or speakers. It also features an auto-adjusting front light, so you don't have to constantly adjust the brightness throughout the day. Finally, the Signature Edition supports wireless charging, a feature you don't often see in this space. Both models are faster than the last-gen iterations thanks to a dual-core processor, so turning pages, highlighting text, and looking up words is more responsive. Amazon says its refurbished products are thoroughly inspected, cleaned, and tested to ensure they're fully functional, and you get the same one-year limited warranty as new products. If you need a break from games, movies, and podcasts, we have plenty of great book recommendations to check out. PROJECT HAIL MARY TRAILER: Ryan Gosling Puts the ‘Not' in Astronaut & Befriends Strange Alien
In The Martian, everyone on Earth banded together to save one man from space. But in Project Hail Mary, the next Andy Weir novel coming to the big screen, one man will go to space to save everyone on Earth. Not that he wants to. And not that he's entirely alone out there. Project Hail Mary's first trailer introduces a reluctant Ryan Gosling as the galaxy's last, best(ish) hope to save the Sun from dying. Only, he's not the only life form looking for answers before it's too late. Ryan Gosling is going to space in Project Hail Mary's trailer… But as he says himself, he puts the 'not' in astronaut… How will he end up there against his will? And why exactly does everyone on the planet need a high school teacher to save them? Here's the film's official synopsis—which sounds exactly like Weir's book. Amazon MGM Studios shares of Project Hail Mary: Science teacher Ryland Grace wakes up on a spaceship light years from home with no recollection of who he is or how he got there. As his memory returns, he begins to uncover his mission: solve the riddle of the mysterious substance causing the sun to die out. He must call on his scientific knowledge and unorthodox ideas to save everything on Earth from extinction… but an unexpected friendship means he may not have to do it alone. Ryan Gosling might be the single best choice to play Grace, but Sandra Hüller definitely is the best choice to play the project's leader, Eva Stratt. We see them both crush it in the trailer for Project Hail Mary above. The directing duo behind the film is also why this movie has a chance to pull off an adaptation that far exceeds its source material. Oscar-winners Phil Lord & Christopher Miller direct with a script from Drew Goddard. The movie also stars Lionel Boyce, Ken Leung, Milana Vayntrub. Even with all that human star power, the best part of the movie might end up being Rocky the alien. If you haven't read the book, trust us, you're going to love him. And you'll find out why when Project Hail Mary releases in theaters on March 202, 2026. And that's happening whether Ryan Gosling wants it to or not.

Surprisingly, the alien is not a threat. Instead, the two beings, despite their differences, must learn to work together to survive and possibly save both their planets. The story combines science, suspense, survival, and friendship, making it unique. Just like in The Martian, the character uses science and logic to solve big problems. Ryan Gosling reluctantly goes to space in 'Project Hail Mary' trailer
Ryan Gosling puts the "not" in "Astronaut" in the new trailer for "Project Hail Mary." The upcoming sci-fi film, based on Andy Weir's novel of the same name, stars Gosling as middle school teacher turned reluctant astronaut Ryland Grace, who's tasked with saving humanity from the effects of a dimming sun. However, when he wakes up from a coma as the sole survivor aboard a spaceship, he must overcome his amnesia to remember where he is and why he was sent there. Read more: Ryan Gosling and Greta Gerwig on how Ken became the subversive center of 'Barbie' 'It's an insanely ambitious story that's massive in scope and it seemed really hard to make, and that's kind of our bag,' Gosling said of "Project Hail Mary" at CinemaCon in April, where he debuted footage from the film, according to Variety. 'This is why we go to the movies. And I'm not just saying it because I'm in it. I'm also saying it because I'm a producer on the film.' The trailer, released Monday by Amazon MGM Studios, opens with Gosling startling awake on the spacecraft, his hair and beard uncharacteristically long. "I'm several light-years from my apartment," he proclaims, "and I'm not an astronaut." It then jolts back in time to show Grace pre-launch as he learns from Eva Stratt (Sandra Hüller) that if he does not journey into space, everything on Earth will go extinct. According to Stratt, who heads the mission, Grace is the only scientist who might understand what is happening to the sun and surrounding stars. The trailer, which progresses through an intense montage set to Harry Styles' "Sign of the Times," teases Gosling's signature humor. "I can't even moonwalk!" the "Barbie" actor declares at one point. (Gosling portrayed moonwalker Neil Armstrong in another recent space movie, Damien Chazelle's "First Man.") The film, directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, marks the second book-to-movie adaptation for Weir, whose novel "The Martian" became an Oscar-nominated 2015 blockbuster starring Matt Damon. An adaptation for his book "Artemis" is also in development with the same directing team. "Project Hail Mary" hits theaters March 20.
