Pune: The PMC's standing committee on Friday approved the work of reducing the slope of the road stretch from Aai-Mata Temple to Gangadham Chowk, following the fatal accident in the area last month.
The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will spend Rs9.17 crore on reducing the slope of about a 500-metre stretch, besides the work on water supply, drainage and stormwater lines. Aniruddha Pavaskar, the head of PMC's road department, said, "We are planning for a substantial reduction in the slope. The work will begin in a few days. The target is to finish the work in nine months."
The PMC had invited tenders for the same work last year, but the process did not finish because of various reasons. The civic body re-initiated the tenders to appoint an agency to take up the work.
