Rap superstar cancels previously postponed tour dates
Drake has canceled his Australian and New Zealand shows five months after the gigs were originally postponed. Ticketholders learned the remainder of the Anita Max Win Tour was canceled on Tuesday, July 29 (Australia time). 'Live Nation Australia regrets to inform you that the previously postponed Drake shows in Australia and New Zealand have now been officially cancelled,' a statement from Live Nation read. 'Despite extensive efforts to find a solution, rescheduling within the necessary timeframe was not possible,' it continued. 'Drake remains committed to returning and performing these shows when his schedule permits.' Anyone who bought tickets for the shows will be refunded. Ticketholders should check their email for information on the refund process, Live Nation said. Originally announced in November 2024, Drake's Anita Max Win Tour was the rapper's first visit to Oceania since 2017, according to Billboard. The 16-date sold-out tour started in February 2025 with shows in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. While the tour was supposed to end in early March, it was announced on Feb. 26 that the remaining four gigs had been postponed due to a 'scheduling conflict.' Drake's representatives wrote in a statement at the time that the rapper's team was 'actively working on rescheduling these dates along with adding some additional shows,' Rolling Stone AU/NZ reported. Drake Rents Club & Plays Sabrina Carpenter's Songs
has made headlines recently for renting out a club to relax all by himself. Not only that, he also had Sabrina Carpenter's music playing in the background. This is the latest development in the 38-year-old artist's extravagant lifestyle. The 'Hotline Bling' rapper abruptly postponed the remaining dates of his 2025 Anita Max Win Tour recently, sparking fan curiosity about his latest outings. Drake rented out a club on Tuesday. As seen in online footage, he was sitting on a sofa and gambling on the website Stake, while also drinking a beverage. Moreover, while he was gambling, he had Sabrina Carpenter's song 'Espresso' playing in the background via loudspeakers. Making Drake's quality time all the more interesting was the fact that he used the nightclub's three big screens to show off the gambling website. While gambling, Drake was shown winning several bets. Social media was rife with mixed fan reactions. Many of them expressed sympathy for what they viewed as odd behavior on Drake's part. Some even speculated if Drake's behavior was all part of an act. Meanwhile, several commenters also criticized the rapper for using his wealth in what seemed to be a wasteful manner. 'I kind of feel sorry for him, this is not a flex, it's a cry for help,' one fan posted on X (formerly Twitter). 'Is Drake having a mid-life crisis?' another fan wrote. Some fans even brought up the influence Stake had on Drake. However, some fans seemed supportive or understanding of Drake's odd way of winding down and relaxing, even finding fun in it. 'Idk what y'all say this looks fun as f—,' one fan posted. Though some commenters have pointed to the behavior as odd, there is a precedent for wealthy people hiring out nightclubs for alone time like this. In February 2025, internet personality Bobby Saptura rented out a nightclub supposedly to cope with the sadness he experienced after a breakup. While there, he also ate several of his brand's burgers while passing the time. Drake Says He's 'Sold' On WWE After Attending Elimination Chamber
Over the last few years, the WWE has increasingly embraced Hip-Hop, creating new fans out of some of the most unexpected rap stars. Drake attended the WWE Elimination Chamber premium live event this past weekend and revealed that he is now 'sold' on the product. The show emanated from the Rogers Centre in Toronto and, hours before, multiple reporters suggested that the WWE had saved a seat for 6 God. Hot 97's Peter Rosenberg, who is also an analyst for the wrestling powerhouse, also tweeted about there being a 'Hip-Hop luminary' who was going to be in the building. Sure enough, less than an hour into the show, fans caught photos and videos of the 38-year-old rapper. At one point in the broadcast, he and Lil Yachty could be seen posing behind the commentary table. During the Men's Elimination Chamber match to decide the No. 1 contender for Cody Rhodes' WWE Championship at Wrestlemania, Logan Paul wrote OVO on his chamber pod to show love to the Toronto rapper and his label collective. On Instagram, Drake shared a collage of photos and videos, writing 'I'm sold' in his caption. Yachty commented and said, 'Nothing better than WWE.' Check out Drizzy's post below. View this post on Instagram A post shared by champagnepapi (@champagnepapi) In the past, Drake has acknowledged WWE, such as his Hulk Hogan line on 'Gimme A Hug' and his John Cena line from 'Wick Man.' There was also a viral video of him walking into a basketball game holding a WWE title. However, being present at a show was groundbreaking for both him and the WWE, who has recently hosted Travis Scott, Lil Baby, Quavo, Bad Bunny, and various other sensations in and out of Hip-Hop. The $ome $exy $ongs 4 U artist couldn't have picked a better show to attend, either. He watched John Cena win the Men's Elimination Chamber match and punch his ticket to a WWE Championship match at Wrestlemania, giving him the chance to break the record for the most world titles won before he retires at the end of the year. Cena shocked the world when he turned 'heel,' otherwise known as becoming a bad guy in WWE, for the first time in over 20 years. The Rock attempted to have Rhodes turn heel and join him, but Rhodes declined. Cena pretended to celebrate with Rhodes for making the right decision, only to then kick him in the groin and align with The Rock and Travis Scott as they beat Rhodes up. Wrestlemania 41 in Las Vegas was already highly anticipated due to it being Cena's final time wrestling at the major premium live event, but with this storyline wrinkle, it just got a lot more interesting. The only question is, will Drake attend that show as well? If so, will he get involved with WWE in an on-screen or in-ring capacity? Time will tell. Drake Pulls the Plug on Tour Weeks After Kendrick Lamar's Super Bowl Jab
The Super Bowl may be over, but the aftershocks are still rolling in. While Kendrick Lamar used the halftime stage to take a swipe at his longtime rival, Drake, and now, just weeks later, the 38-year-old Canadian rapper has now called off the rest of his Australia and New Zealand tour. On Tuesday, February 25, it was confirmed that Drake had canceled the final four dates of his sold-out Anita Max Win Tour due to a 'scheduling conflict.' A rep for the rapper stated, 'We are actively working on rescheduling these dates along with adding some additional shows.' They also assured ticket holders that refunds would be available for those who preferred not to wait for the new dates. More from Spin: Resurfaced Video of Kendrick Lamar Attending UCLA Class Goes Viral Game Over: Kendrick Lamar Roasts Drake At Super Bowl Kendrick Promises 'Hard Raps, Good Beats' At Super Bowl Halftime Show The former Degrassi star already completed stops in Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, and Sydney, and the tour marked his first return to Australia and New Zealand since 2017. Drake's cancellation comes on the heels of Lamar's viral Super Bowl performance, where he made a clear nod to their ongoing feud which began over ten years ago. While performing 'Not Like Us' — the diss track that dominated the Billboard charts last summer — he smirked at the camera and quipped, 'I want to perform their favorite song, but you know they love to sue,' a direct shot at Drake's ongoing legal battle with Universal Music Group. The 'God's Plan' rapper didn't fire back directly but did tweak a lyric at his Melbourne show one day later. In his song 'Knife Talk,' he originally rapped, 'Beef is live, spoiler alert — this n***a dies.' Instead, he switched it up, saying, 'Beef is live, spoiler alert — I never die.' Drake Postpones 4 Australia and New Zealand Tour Dates
Drake, whose new album topped the Billboard 200 chart this week after Kendrick Lamar had made him a punchline at the Super Bowl halftime show, has canceled four tour dates in Australia and New Zealand because of a 'scheduling conflict,' representatives for the rapper said on Wednesday. It was not immediately clear what the conflict was, but Drake's team said it would work to reschedule the dates along with adding additional shows. 'We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience,' Drake's representatives said in a statement. 'Drake and the entire team have had an incredible time doing these shows and are excited to return soon. We look forward to sharing the rescheduled dates with you as soon as possible.' The Anita Max Win Tour kicked off this month in Perth, Australia, and was scheduled to have 16 shows across major cities in the country and New Zealand. But Drake canceled a March 4 show in Brisbane, a March 7 show in Sydney and two shows in mid-March in Auckland, New Zealand. The tour coincided with the release of his latest album, 'Some Sexy Songs 4 U,' a collaboration with PartyNextDoor, a longtime Drake associate. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 this week. It was the first new album since his much-publicized beef with Lamar, whose diss track 'Not Like Us' accused Drake of pedophilia. Drake sued Universal Music Group for defamation for releasing and promoting the song. His lawsuit called the allegations in the song false and accused the label of valuing 'corporate greed over the safety and well-being of its artists.' But the song has continued to grow. This month Lamar won five Grammy Awards for the song, including song and record of the year, and performed it to a huge global audience at the Super Bowl halftime show.
