Religious fervour marks Anivara Asthanam at Tirumala

Tirumala: The annual Anivara Asthanam was performed with religious fervour at Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple here on Wednesday. The event was attended by Pedda Jeeyar Swamy, Chinna Jeeyar Swamy, TTD chairman B R Naidu, EO J Syamala Rao and board members. From 7 am to 9 am, Sri Malayappa Swamy along with His consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi, seated in the Ghanta Mandapam on Sarvabhoopala Vahanam, facing Garudalwar while Sri Viswaksena, the Chief Commander, was placed facing south. Special pujas were performed to both Moolavirat and Utsava Murthies. Pedda Jeeyar carried six Pattu garments in a procession over his head on a plate and offered four to the Moolavirat, one each to Malayappa Swamy and Sri Vishwaksena. The temple priests performed rituals, including Parivattam, lachchana, and traditional offerings. The ceremony concluded with placing the lachchana at the holy feet of Sri Venkateswara Swamy. In the evening, the deities blessed devotees in a floral palanquin, the Pushpa Pallaki. On the auspicious occasion of the Anivara Asthanam, Pattu clothes (Sare) were offered by Sri Ranganatha Swamy temple of Srirangam, the famous Sri Vaishnava pilgrimage centre in Tamil Nadu, on Wednesday. Special pujas were performed to the Sare at the Tirumala Sri Pedda Jeeyar Swamy Mutt, adjacent to the Sri Bedi Anjaneyaswamy temple. From there, Tirumala Pedda Jeeyar Swamy, Chinna Jeeyar Swamy, TTD chairman Naidu, EO Syamala Rao, and Tamil Nadu endowments department secretary Sridharan brought the silk vastrams to the temple in a procession along four Mada streets, and later offered to the presiding deity. TTD Board members and additional EO Ch Venkaiah Chowdary, CVSO Murali krishana, Tamil Nadu endowments additional secretary Manivasagam, Srirangam temple joint commissioner Sivaram Kumar, temple chief priest Sundara Bhattar, deputy EO Lokanatham, and other senior officials also participated in the programme.

Religious fervour marked the annual 'Anivara Asthanam' festival at Lord Venkateswara temple at Tirumala on Wednesday. After the conclusion of pre-dawn rituals and other religious formalities, 'asthanam' was organised to the idols of Lord Malayappa, his divine consorts and Viswakasena at Bangaru Vakili, who were seated on a high altar facing the main idol followed by other festival-related proceedings Later, the senior pontiff of the temple carried over half of dozen of silk 'vastrams' on a silver plate on his head and ceremoniously handed them over to the chief priest for adorning them to the main and utsava deities. In lieu with the centuries old practice, the authorities of famous Sri Ranganatha temple at Sri Rangam in Tamil Nadu also made the customary presentation of silk vastrams to the hill temple. The festival was attended by the TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu, Executive Officer J. Syamala Rao, Additional EO Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary, board trustees and other officials. Later in the evening, the procession of 'Pushpa Pallaki' was organised, where the utsava idols mounted atop the exquisitely decorated floral palanquin, were taken out in a grand procession encircling the sacred shrine. About 60 quintals of flowers went into the making of the palanquin.

Tirumala: On the eve of Anivara Asthanam (start of new accounting year at TTD), the sacred Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam cleansing ritual was performed with religious fervour at Tirumala Sri Venkateswara temple on Tuesday. TTD EO J Syamala Rao, along with TTD chairman B R Naidu and additional EO Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary, speaking to the media outside the Srivari temple on the occasion, said that this traditional temple cleansing is performed four times a year before Ugadi, Anivara Asthanam, annual Brahmotsavam and Vaikuntha Ekadasi. As a part of this ritual, the sanctum sanctorum, sub-temples, walls, ceilings, and all puja materials are thoroughly cleaned using water and a herbal mixture 'Parimalam'. The Moola Virat was completely covered with a veil during the cleaning. After the cleansing, sacred aromatic water mixed with ingredients like Kasturi turmeric, pachcha karpooram, sandal paste, kumkum, and other fragrant powders was sprinkled throughout the temple. Later, the veil was removed, and priests performed special pujas and naivedyam as per tradition. darshan for devotees began subsequently. The Ashtadala Pada Padmaradhana Seva was cancelled for the day due to this ritual. TTD Board members Panabaka Lakshmi, G Bhanu Prakash Reddy, Naresh Kumar, Shanta Ram, Sadasiva Rao, Janga Krishnamurthy, Janaki Devi, Mahender Reddy, CVSO Muralikrishna, temple Deputy EO Lokanatham, and other officials were present.

Fervour marked the Koil Alwar Thirumanjanam at the temple of Lord Venkateswara. The periodical festival was on Tuesday observed as a prelude to the annual Anivara Asthanam slated on Wednesday (July 16). As part of the festival, a rich herbal paste that acts as an disinfectant was applied to the walls, ceiling and pillars inside the sanctum sanctorum as well as at all the sub-temples within the temple complex after a thorough cleansing up of the inner precincts. The darshan lines, which were interrupted in the morning, resumed by afternoon. TTD Chairman B. R. Naidu, Executive Officer J. Shyamala Rao, Additional EO Ch. Tirumala: In a significant religious event, EO Shyamala Rao announced that the Koil Alwar Thirumanjanam was performed at the Tirumala Srivari Temple, adhering strictly to traditional scriptures. This temple purification ceremony coincided with the occasion of Anivara Asthanam. Rao elaborated that the Koil Alwar Thirumanjanam ritual will take place four times annually. It is customary to conduct a purification of the temple each Tuesday before major festivals, including Ugadi Asthanam, Anivara Asthanam, Brahmotsavam, and Vaikuntha Ekadashi. During the purification ceremony, the deity was first covered with a cloth, and the puja implements were cleansed. Furthermore, other sub-temples and the temple walls were purified using aromatic spices. Upon concluding the purification rites, special prayers and offerings were presented to the Lord. Devotees were then welcomed to have darshan following these sacred proceedings.
