Turkey Plans to Skip Minimum-Wage Raise in Boost for Investors
Turkey's government plans to skip a mid-year increase in the minimum wage, according to people with knowledge of the matter, resisting political pressure to alleviate rising living costs. Such a move would likely be viewed positively by investors, who see restrictions on salaries as a means to gauge the willingness of Turkish officials to tackle persistently high inflation.

Erdogan says Trump would join Ukraine peace talks in Turkey if Putin attends
Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump told him he would attend potential peace talks between the leaders of Ukraine and Russia in Turkey if Russian President Vladimir Putin also agreed to take part. On his return flight from the NATO summit, where he met Trump for the first time since he returned to office, Erdogan said he told the U.S. president Ankara aims to bring the Russian and Ukrainian leaders together in Turkey for peace talks. "He (Trump) said, 'if Russian President Vladimir Putin comes to Istanbul or Ankara for a solution, then I will also come," Erdogan's office on Thursday quoted him as telling reporters. "We will hold the necessary contacts and God willing realise this meeting as soon as possible." Reuters

Turkey hopes for progress on F-35 jets after Trump meeting: Erdogan
President Tayyip Erdogan said Turkey has not given up on acquiring F-35 fighter jets from the United States and has conveyed its desire to rejoin the program from which it was removed over its purchase of Russian defense systems. Speaking to reporters on a return flight from a NATO summit in The Hague — where he met U.S. President Donald Trump — Erdogan said he hoped for progress following their discussions on the issue. "We have not given up on the F-35s. We are discussing our intention to return to the program with our counterparts," he was cited as saying by his office on Thursday. "We discussed the issue in our meeting with Mr. Trump, talks at a technical level have started. God willing, we will make progress." Washington imposed sanctions on its NATO ally Ankara in 2020 over its purchase of Russian S-400 missile defense systems, while also removing it from the F-35 program where it was both a buyer and manufacturer. Turkey has repeatedly said its removal was unjust and demanded to be reinstated or reimbursed. Reuters

Turkish Opposition Risks New Crisis as Ex-Leader Eyes Comeback
The former leader of Turkey's main opposition party said he's willing to return to the post if a court invalidates the vote that removed him, a move that could divide the opposition and derail its efforts to challenge President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. 'If I don't accept the job, there is a risk of trustee appointment,' Sozcu newspaper cited Kemal Kilicdaroglu, 76, as saying on Thursday.
