Over the years, Google has improved its search and has also introduced a slew of features to enhance user experience. However, not many may know there are some smart ways to use Google Search that can save time and boost efficiency. Here are a few methods to enhance the precision and clarity of your Google searches. Looking for a PDF or a document online can be time consuming. With Google Search, you can search them directly, saving both time and effort. For example, if you are looking for the Microsoft Annual Report 2024. The easiest way to do so would be typing the following in the search bar – 'Microsoft annual report 2024 filetype:pdf.' Here the :PDF command instructs Google to display only results with the file type PDF. This can be useful for researchers, analysts, and students in locating the necessary documents. If you are looking for something and you want to exclude certain kinds of results, Google Search offers a way to do so. For example, if you're looking for a marketing strategy excluding social media, you could type: 'Marketing strategy -social media,' and Google will display pages related to marketing strategies while omitting any results that include social media. This technique is helpful when you aim to refine your focus and prevent content duplication or unwanted topics in your search results. This is particularly helpful when you seek results solely from a specific domain, like and aim to steer clear of irrelevant or low-quality sources. For instance, to locate technology news on The Indian Express website, you should type: 'Tech site:Indianexpress(.)com.' This command instructs Google to display results exclusively from that domain, excluding all others. It is perfect for concentrating your research and guaranteeing that you receive information straight from trusted sites. When you are looking to shop phones within a specific price bracket, but the search result page shows you products without a range, use this trick to narrow your search within a set price range. Type: phones Rs 10, 15,000. With this search google will only display phones on sale within your desired price range. You could expand your search results by including synonyms and related terms for a given keyword. By placing a tilde(~) directly before a word, such as by typing: healthy ~recipes Google will not only look for pages containing the word 'recipes,' but also for those featuring synonyms and related phrases like 'meals,' 'dishes,' or 'cooking' without you having to specify each one individually. This trick is especially useful when you want to broaden your research to include a variety of relevant results. Google is currently the most popular search engine, serving various purposes from purchasing tickets to seeking information. The search engine reportedly receives 5.9 million searches each minutes, and many users struggle to sort through all the information. With these easy tips, you can organise your Google search experience.

HRCP report highlights rights, security crisis

The Pakistan Human Rights Commission (HRCP), Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa chapter, has released its Annual Report 2024, highlighting worsening human rights conditions and security concerns in the region. The report was unveiled by HRCP Vice-Chairperson Akbar Khan during a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club. According to the report, terrorism continues to take a heavy toll on civilians, law enforcement personnel, and security forces - a grim reflection of the deteriorating security landscape in the province. At least 150 new cases of enforced disappearances were recorded over the past year, prompting repeated judicial interventions. Despite this, legislative progress remained sluggish, with only 30 bills tabled in the provincial assembly - 21 of which were passed. Judicial pressure also intensified, with more than 23,000 cases pending in the Peshawar High Court (PHC) and over 38,000 cases overall, including many related to contempt of court involving political and police figures. The HRCP report also drew attention to the growing trend of violence driven by "self-styled justice" and noted a disturbing surge in crimes against children, including the murder of several minors. Regarding labor rights, the report documented serious violations, including the deaths of 26 miners due to hazardous working conditions and extremist attacks. Additionally, more than 30 laborers were abducted by militants. Environmental concerns were also underscored in the report. Over 100 people reportedly lost their lives due to torrential rains and floods, while Peshawar remained among the most polluted cities globally. Speaking at the press conference, Professor Dr Sarfaraz, HRCP Coordinator, said that worsening law and order in the tribal districts has led to mounting humanitarian crises and severe economic stagnation. He criticized both the federal and provincial governments for neglecting the region, leaving citizens vulnerable to numerous socio-economic problems.

ADB Deploys Nearly US$40 Bln For Development Across Asia And The Pacific In 2024

KUALA LUMPUR, April 24 (Bernama) -- The Asian Development Bank (ADB) committed US$24.3 billion (US$1 = RM4.39) from its own resources last year, alongside US$14.9 billion in cofinancing with its partners, to address a range of complex development challenges in Asia and the Pacific. In a statement issued today, the bank explained that the US$24.3 billion encompassed loans, grants, equity investments, guarantees, and technical assistance provided to both governments and the private sector. According to the ADB's Annual Report 2024, which was published today, the bank built on the one million direct jobs it generated in 2024 by committing US$4.8 billion through its private sector projects and programmes, a 28.5 per cent increase from 2023. The ADB also highlighted that its collaborations with governments, financial institutions, and investors have fostered enabling business environments, strengthened capital markets, and boosted trade. 'With our increased financial firepower and a sharper strategic focus, ADB is turning commitment into concrete results,' said ADB President Masato Kanda, adding that the bank is financing more affordable and efficient energy and transport systems, supporting a vibrant private sector that creates better-quality jobs, and strengthening basic services in education, health, and social protection. The report also outlined ADB's evolution towards becoming a larger, more effective development bank. 'Milestones include capital management reforms that will enable ADB to expand its operations by 50 per cent over the next decade, a major update to the institution's corporate strategy, and a record US$5 billion replenishment for the Asian Development Fund, ADB's largest source of grant financing for operations in its poorest and most vulnerable developing member countries (DMCs),' it said. In addition, ADB deployed a variety of financial and knowledge-based support during the year to enhance food production systems, reduce the damaging impacts of extreme weather events, and reverse environmental degradation and biodiversity loss. The bank also assisted DMCs in implementing critical reforms to improve public financial management, address fiscal risks, and promote social and economic development through better domestic resource mobilisation and budgeting.
