Yemen's Houthis hit Beersheba

Shafaq News – Sanaa Yemen's Houthis (Ansarallah) launched a ballistic missile at Beersheba, the group announced on Saturday. In a statement, Yahya Saree, the group's military spokesperson, said a Zulfiqar missile 'successfully' struck a 'sensitive Israeli enemy target,' describing the attack as retaliation for what he called Israel's 'crimes against civilians' in Gaza. #معركة_الفتح_الموعود_والجهاد_المقدس — العميد يحيى سريع (@army21yemen) June 28, 2025 According to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, Israeli operations have killed at least 55,999 Palestinians, mostly women and children, since October 2023.

Houthis' Red Sea blockade remains in force

Shafaq News – Sanaa Yemen's Houthi (Ansarallah) movement is maintaining a full naval blockade on Israeli-affiliated shipping in the Red Sea, the group's leader confirmed on Thursday. In a televised address, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi said his forces had launched 309 ballistic and hypersonic missiles, along with drones, at Israeli targets since the second phase of operations began in mid-Ramadan (March 2025). He further characterized the Iran-Israel ceasefire as a 'military defeat' for Tel Aviv, claiming Israel failed to achieve its objectives in the strikes on Iranian territory. Iran's missile barrages, he added, created 'unprecedented fear,' driving Israeli civilians into shelters. Al-Houthi framed Tehran's response as a strategic victory for the region, hailing Iran's leadership, Revolutionary Guard, and public for their resilience, and asserted that toppling Iran's Islamic system was 'impossible.' The Houthis, backed by Iran and in control of northern Yemen, began targeting Israeli-linked vessels in late 2023 in response to the Gaza war. Their attacks disrupted traffic through key trade corridors in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, prompting a US-led naval response aimed at securing international shipping routes.

Exclusive: Trump's Iran offensive triggers Houthi retaliation in Red Sea

Shafaq News/ Yemen's Ansarallah movement (Houthis) will resume attacks on US vessels in the Red Sea and any maritime corridors passing through areas under its control, a Houthi official announced on Sunday. Brigadier General Abed Mohammed Al-Thawr, Assistant Director of the Moral Guidance Department in the Houthi-aligned Yemeni Armed Forces, confirmed to Shafaq News that Washington's direct involvement in the war has 'collapsed diplomatic efforts and mediation attempts aimed at de-escalation,' adding that Yemen remains firmly aligned with Tehran and will support it with all available means. The announcement came hours after US President Donald Trump confirmed that US forces had launched airstrikes (Operation Midnight Hammer) on three nuclear facilities in Iran. In early May 2025, the United States and Yemen's Houthi movement reached a ceasefire agreement after weeks of escalating hostilities in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandeb Strait. The deal, brokered by Oman and announced by President Donald Trump, brought an end to US-led Operation Rough Rider and paused Houthi attacks on US-linked vessels.

Red Sea alert: Houthis to target US ships if Washington backs Israel

Shafaq News/ On Saturday, Yemen's Ansarallah (Houthis) threatened to target the US interests in the Red Sea if Washington supports Israeli military operations against Iran. 'If the US involves in an attack and aggression against Iran with the Israeli enemy, the armed forces will target its ships and warships in the Red Sea,' the group wrote on X. The Houthis described Israel as 'the aggressor against Iran,' referencing previous operations in Gaza and current attacks on Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen. It further accused Tel Aviv of seeking regional dominance, allegedly underwritten both openly and strategically by the United States. The movement explained that the objective of this project is to 'confiscate the freedom, independence, and dignity of our nation,' while also aiming to erode the region's identity, occupy land, exploit resources, and normalize violations of sacred sites and human life. The statement comes amid reports indicating that the United States is preparing to support Israel militarily in its confrontation with Iran. Tensions have sharply escalated following Israel's launch of Operation Rising Lion, a campaign of targeted strikes on Iranian military and nuclear sites. The operation has killed several senior commanders from Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and several key nuclear scientists. Iran responded with True Promise 3, its most extensive direct attack on Israeli territory to date. The retaliatory operation has so far included 18 waves of missile and drone strikes.

‘Targeting India': Canada confirms Khalistani extremists operating from its soil

Canada's top intelligence agency has officially acknowledged that a 'small group' of Canada-based Khalistani extremists (CBKEs) continue to pose a threat to national security by using Canadian soil to promote, fund or plan acts of violence, primarily targeting India. 'Only a small group of individuals are considered Khalistani extremists because they continue to use Canada as a base for the promotion, fundraising or planning of violence primarily in India,' the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) said in its latest annual report to parliament. CSIS claimed that such activity falls under politically motivated violent extremism (PMVE), which it defines as the use of violence to bring about new political systems or changes to existing ones. 'Politically motivated violent extremism (PMVE) encourages the use of violence to establish new political systems or new structures or norms within existing systems. PMVE actors engage in the planning, financing and facilitating of attacks, globally, in order to establish new political systems or entities,' CSIS wrote. According to CSIS, since the mid-1980s, PMVE in Canada has been most visible in the form of CBKEs 'seeking to use and support violent means to create an independent nation state called Khalistan, largely within Punjab, India.' While no CBKE-linked attacks were recorded on Canadian soil in 2024, CSIS warned that the threat remains active. 'While there were no CBKE-related attacks in Canada in 2024, ongoing involvement in violent activities by CBKEs continues to pose a national security threat to Canada and Canadian interests,' CSIS said. CSIS also highlighted its role in monitoring emerging threats and supporting the Government of Canada's terrorist listing process. The report added that in October 2024, Samidoun, also known as the Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network, was designated a terrorist entity under the Criminal Code. 'In December 2024, the Government of Canada also listed Ansarallah (Houthis), a Yemen-based group, as a terrorist entity. Ansarallah attacked dozens of maritime vessels in the Red Sea in the past year and is closely linked to the IRGC-Qods Force and Hezbollah, two other listed terrorist entities in Canada,' CSIS added.
