Deontay Wilder floors Tyrrell Herndon twice before seventh-round stoppage in comeback fight
DEONTAY WILDER floored Tyrrell Herndon twice before winning his comeback fight in seven rounds. The former WBC heavyweight world champion returned to the ring in Wichita, Kansas against little-known Herndon. 2 2 And he did so without a win since 2022 - having lost on points to Joseph Parker before a crushing KO defeat to Zhilei Zhang. But Wilder did get back in the win column after dropping Herndon first in round two with a left hook then with a combination in the seventh. He said: "It felt great. Thanks to my opponent, I appreciate the work. "I've been laid off for a long time, getting myself back together, repairing myself emotionally. "It is just nice to be back in the ring. This is a new beginning for me." Nelson Lopez Jr - who promoted Wilder's comeback fight - told SunSport the American's next comeback fight is already pencilled in. And then an anticipated showdown against Anthony Joshua has been targeted for next year. "We have the next one set up, this one set up, nothing solid for the third one - you know how boxing is, there's no path of how you succeed. "We have to get over this, so anything can happen. We got to get over the next one. Anything can happen. "And then, you know maybe Eddie (Hearn) will sit at the table and see what we can do something with AJ."

Jake Paul leaks brutal message Anthony Joshua sent him after being goaded over KO… and calls for UK stadium fight
ANTHONY JOSHUA warned Jake Paul to be careful for what he wishes for after sending him one last menacing message. The two have been exchanging back and forth messages in private after Paul called out the ex-heavyweight world champion earlier in the year. 4 4 The YouTuber-turned-boxer even goaded AJ over his previous knockout losses - but Joshua warned what goes around comes around. Paul has not DM'd Joshua since his KO tease and told SunSport: "That was the last one. "He said, 'I can't wait to fight. you're gonna be fighting for your life and you'll know the feeling that I've gone through.' Or something like that." Paul started his boxing journey with an exhibition bout in Manchester against Deji - the brother to his arch YouTube rival KSI. The American has now been a professional five years and has a record of 11 wins and just one loss - coming against Tommy Fury in 2023. And Paul wants to return to the UK to fight AJ - dreaming of a stadium full of his most volatile detractors. He said: "My first fight was in front of an English crowd and it's rowdy. "I love walking into the lions' den and so me vs Anthony Joshua, 100,000 people chanting "f*** Jake Paul" would be pretty fun for me." Jake Paul vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr JAKE PAUL'S controversial boxing career rolls on this weekend with the Problem Child facing boxing royalty in Anaheim, California. Paul will face Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, a highly-decorated former world middleweight champion. The Mexican, 39, has fought just once in the last four years but has the best boxing resume of any fighter to step into a ring with Paul - bar Mike Tyson, who was aged 58 at the time they fought. How to watch Wilder vs Herndon: TV channel and live stream for boxing tonight
Deontay Wilder is back in action tonight as he fights Tyrrell Herndon in Kansas. 'The Bronze Bomber' returns for the first time since his emphatic stoppage defeat by Zhilei Zhang on the inaugural Queensberry vs Matchroom 5v5 card in Riyadh last summer. That sobering loss followed Wilder's unexpected points defeat by Joseph Parker just prior to Christmas 2023, scuppering plans to finally meet Anthony Joshua and leading to questions about a potential retirement from boxing following a torrid run of just one win in his last five bouts - a first-round knockout of Robert Helenius in October 2022. However, the former long-time WBC heavyweight champion is not ready to throw in the towel on his career just yet and begins another comeback attempt against little-known opponent Herndon on Friday night at Charles Koch Arena in Wichita. Wilder is eager to reignite ambitions for a long overdue showdown with Joshua later in 2025 and will hope to roll back the years with an emphatic stoppage of his fellow American this evening. However, a shock upset against a fighter with whom the majority of the boxing public will be unfamiliar would surely end those chances for good and leave him with no choice but to hang up the gloves. Joshua will have a keen eye on proceedings no doubt as he continues to recover from elbow surgery that has delayed his comeback from that comprehensive defeat by IBF champion Daniel Dubois at Wembley last year. Wilder vs Herndon is being shown live via BLK Prime Pay-Per-View, a subscription to which costs $6.99 a month or $59.99 for the year.

'We're definitely going to do it': Jake Paul confirms he WILL fight in the UK and is targeting a showdown with Anthony Joshua
Jake Paul has revealed he wants his potential fight with Anthony Joshua to take place in the UK, as talks continue to build around a future showdown between the two. The American star has long expressed interest in facing the two-time heavyweight champion, but now says he'd prefer the bout to happen on Joshua's home turf or at Madison Square Garden in New York if not. 'We would love to put on a show in the UK,' Paul said. 'We're definitely going to do it. I'd also love to come back to the UK, maybe for Anthony Joshua or maybe that would be at Madison Square Garden. Who knows, but I'd love to fight in the UK. We'll definitely do an event there.' Paul recently opened up about his ongoing private exchanges with Joshua, including a recent Instagram DM where the pair traded clips and light-hearted digs. 'He DM'd me today, like saying 'lol' to one of my training clips, and then I sent him a "lol" of him getting knocked out,' Paul previously told MailSport. 'I guess we're kind of s*** talking behind the scenes a bit. But I have a lot of love for Anthony Joshua... he's a great guy.' While a fight between the two remains unlikely in the near future, Paul has previously claimed the matchup could happen in 2026 and insists he's confident he could win. 'I want to fight Anthony Joshua because I know that I will beat AJ's a**', Paul said earlier this year. 'He doesn't have a chin, and he has no skill and he's stiff.' Before any Joshua clash can materialise, Paul must first get past former WBC middleweight world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on June 28. A dominant win could earn Paul an official world ranking with either the WBC or WBA and move him one step closer to the elite-level bouts he's chasing. Whether it's Joshua in London, Canelo in Las Vegas, or another high-profile name, Paul made one thing clear: he's not just chasing fights... he's chasing global stages.
