‘Rs 20 lakh stolen in 60 seconds': Thieves in South Delhi drive away parked car after hacking its security system, video goes viral
Thieves hacked the security system of a car parked outside a house in South Delhi's Safdarjung Enclave on June 21 and drove away with the vehicle in less than a minute. The car's owner, Rishab Chauhan, uploaded the CCTV footage of the alleged theft that took place at 4.50 am on his social media page with the title 'Rs 20 lakh stolen in 60 seconds', and it soon went viral with over three million views. The footage shows a car pulling up next to Chauhan's top-end variant Creta, worth over Rs 20 lakh, and a man stepping out to break the glass window at the driver's side before leaving. Moments later, the same vehicle returns, and a man with a face mask and holding a tablet-like gadget hacks the Creta's security system. Within seconds, he opens the door without a key, and drives off with the vehicle that was reportedly only six months old. 'Hi, my Hyundai Creta got stolen in 60 seconds on 21st June 2025. As can be seen in this video that I took from my CCTV camera, the CRETA is no longer safe outside. Its security system has been hacked or leaked and can be bypassed in 60 seconds,' wrote Chauhan on Instagram. A post shared by Rishabh Chauhan (@421sweetdevil) Chauhan also shared a screenshot of the police complaint registered and stated that the Delhi Police have launched an investigation into the incident. Chauhan, in his video, expressed surprise that such a theft could occur in the upscale locality he lives in, especially since the police heavily barricade the area at night to prevent thefts and untoward incidents. The police told The Indian Express that the district's Anti-Auto Theft Squad is looking into the theft and will tap into known networks of car thieves to identify the suspects. 'The machine that the suspects used to unlock the car is generally used by mechanics when car owners have lost their keys,' explained Amit Goel, Deputy Commissioner of Police, South West. 'It is used to make duplicate keys in a matter of seconds and car thieves generally smuggle these machines to use in robberies,' he added.

How Delhi Police constable posed as ‘decoy customer', caught man with Rs 60,000 counterfeit currency in 2018
This month, a Delhi court is set to sentence a man convicted of dealing in counterfeit currency. However, the series of events that led to the man's arrest was set into motion on a chilly afternoon on October 16, 2018, when a secret informer arrived at the office of the Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS) in Delhi's Shahdara with a vital piece of information, as per court records. The informer told Constable Manu that a man named Mohammed Hussain was selling counterfeit currency at the service road near the Cross River Mall in Shahdara. This tip-off led the police to believe that Hussain had been circulating and trafficking fake Indian currency notes (FICNs). The information was conveyed to Inspector Sanjay Sharma, the AATS in-charge, and a raiding team of five police officials was formed to bust Hussain's network. According to court records, Head Constable Giriraj posed as Yakoob, a decoy customer, and stood near the location where the informer had said he had seen Hussain. Giriraj then saw Hussain and went to strike a deal with him. For two genuine Rs 500 notes, he was given counterfeit currency worth Rs 2,000 by Hussain. At close to 5 pm, Giriraj waved his hand—a predetermined signal decided by the raiding team—and the others closed in and apprehended Hussain within minutes. While conducting a search of the accused, the police found 29 fake Rs 2,000 notes from his right pant pocket. The recovered currency was sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory, Rohini, and after the results showed that the currency was fake, a chargesheet was filed on January 11, 2019, as per court records. Six and a half years later, a Delhi court convicted Hussain under Section 489B of the Indian Penal Code (using as genuine, forged or counterfeit currency-notes or bank-notes). 'It is highly improbable that without any rhyme or reason for the police to pick only accused Mohd. Hussain and plant FICNs upon him…Moreover, in view of the unbreached testimonies of the witnesses available on record, the plea of accused regarding his false implication is without any basis,' Additional Sessions Judge Hardeep Kaur of Patiala House Court noted in her order dated May 30. The counsel for Hussain had argued that the accused belonged to a poor strata of society and had been falsely implicated in the case. He argued that the money had been planted by the Delhi Police. The defence lawyer had also argued that no CCTV footage of the incident had been collected and no public witnesses had joined the investigation. '…this Court has no hesitation to hold that accused Mohd. Hussain having possession of 30 FICNs in the denomination of Rs.2,000/- reached at the spot in order to supply the same to the customers,' Additional Sessions Judge Kaur said. Arguments on Hussain's sentence were heard on July 2. His sentence is likely to be decided on July 7.

4 Bangladeshi nationals ‘staying illegally in India for 12 years' caught in Delhi, sent to deportation centre
In a crackdown on illegal immigration, the Delhi Police on Monday apprehended four Bangladeshi nationals who had allegedly been staying in India illegally for the past 12 years. The police identified the alleged illegal immigrants as Mohammad Asad Ali, 44, his wife Nasima Begum, 40, their son Mohammad Naim Khan, 18, and their 13-year-old daughter. They were residents of Farooq Bazar Ajwatari in Phulbari in Bangladesh's Kurigram district, the police added. According to the Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS) of South West District, Delhi, acting on a tip-off about suspected illegal immigrants in the Delhi Cantt area, a team under the leadership of Police Inspector Ram Kumar, supervised by Assistant Commissioner of Police Ranvir Singh, approached the suspects. The team questioned the suspects about their identities. According to the police, upon failing to provide valid Indian documentation, they allegedly admitted to having entered the country illegally by crossing the border approximately 12 years ago. They were subsequently taken into custody and were allegedly found in possession of photocopies of documents that proved their Bangladeshi identities. Following verification, the alleged illegal immigrants were transferred to a deportation centre through coordination with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO). The crackdown was conducted as part of an initiative under the Ministry of Home Affairs' ongoing campaign to deport illegal immigrants. Previously, on May 3, the Delhi Police had dismantled an alleged illegal immigration gang after arresting 12 people, including six Bangladeshi nationals and five Indian facilitators. The gang, led by Chand Miya, was involved in creating fake Aadhaar cards and other documents to aid illegal immigrants, the police said. The operation extended to Chennai, where 33 more Bangladeshi nationals were identified. On May 18, three Bangladeshi women allegedly residing illegally in Delhi, including one who posed as a transgender person, were apprehended from North West Delhi's Mahendra Park. Two of the accused were found using smartphones with the banned IMO app to communicate with their families in Bangladesh, the police said.

Delhi Police recover 10 high-end stolen motorcycles including 6 Royal Enfield Bullets worth ₹13 lakh; 2 arrested
Under 'Operation Bullet', the Delhi Police have recovered 10 high-end stolen motorcycles worth nearly ₹ 13 lakh, including six Royal Enfield Bullets. This has led to the arrest of two repeat offenders who were part of a string of motorcycle thefts across Delhi and adjoining areas. A joint team from the Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS), the Anti-Burglary and Snatching Cell, and Police Station Swaroop Nagar carried out the operation. The recovered vehicles include six Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycles, a Yamaha R15, a Bajaj Pulsar, and two Hero Honda Splendor bikes. The recovery has enabled the police to solve at least ten cases registered in Swaroop Nagar, Narela, Burari, Model Town, and Gannaur (Sonipat, Haryana). These cases consisted of e-FIRs filed between January 2024 and May 2025 under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and BNSS. The Deputy Commissioner of Police of Outer North, Nidhin Valsan, said that a trap was set near Bhalswa Lake in Mukundpur on the evening of 20 May based on specific intelligence provided by a confidential source to the Head Constable. 'At around 6:00 PM, two suspects were intercepted while riding a Royal Enfield Bullet. The vehicle was confirmed to have been stolen and linked to an E-FIR registered on 12 May at Police Station Swaroop Nagar,' DCP Valsan said. He added, 'During questioning, the suspects disclosed the locations of several hideouts where other stolen motorcycles were stashed. Following their leads, the police conducted a series of field operations and raids across Delhi and parts of Uttar Pradesh. This led to the recovery of nine additional motorcycles, including other premium models.' Arrested individuals include Pankaj, 24, who lives in Swaroop Nagar Extension, Bhalswa Dairy, Delhi, and Taslim, 22, who lives in Rajiv Nagar, Bhalswa Dairy.

They would typically break handle locks and bypass ignition systems to steal motorcycles without keys. In one incident, they also attempted to break into a residence after stealing a bike from a house compound, though the break-in attempt was unsuccessful," DCP Valsan stated.
