Kuwaiti Man Arrested for Using Social Media to Promote Illegal Gambling

KUWAIT CITY, July 7: As part of ongoing efforts to monitor social media and digital platforms, Kuwait's Anti-Cybercrime Department has identified and taken action against two Snapchat accounts involved in promoting illegal gambling activities. According to the Ministry of Interior, investigations revealed that a Kuwaiti citizen was using the platform to invite followers to join private groups under his control, encouraging them to pay money to participate in gambling activities. These activities were promoted as offering "guaranteed profits" and were allegedly conducted either online or in gambling venues abroad. Authorities confirmed that such conduct constitutes a clear violation of Kuwaiti law and is considered a case of suspected electronic fraud and deception. The suspect has been identified and arrested. Legal procedures are currently underway, and he will be referred to the competent judicial authorities. The Ministry of Interior reiterated its commitment to combating illegal activities conducted through modern digital means. It also urged the public not to fall prey to such prohibited schemes and to promptly report any suspicious accounts or online behavior by contacting the ministry.
