The police, under the supervision of SP Anuj Tare, acting on intelligence and technical tracking, apprehended the culprits and recovered the stolen goods within just six hours.
The incident happened at around 3pm when Dnyaneshwar More, a driver from Ahirwadi, was travelling from Amravati to Jalabazar, Hingoli, in a truck. As he slowed down near a speed bump, a white car overtook and intercepted the truck. Four unknown assailants came out of the car, dragged More out, and threatened him with a knife before fleeing with the truck and its valuable cargo.
More immediately filed a complaint at Dhanaj Police Station.
The cops swiftly formed a team under station in-charge Bharat Lasante. Acting on the driver's description of the incident and the accused, the team zeroed down on Pandurang Methe, the prime suspect, through police informers.
Using technical investigation techniques and coordinating with police stations in Manora, Digras, and Pusad, the team tracked the stolen truck to a location around 100km from the crime scene. In a meticulously planned operation, the police seized the truck, the car used in the crime apart from seizing the stolen cargo while arresting all the four accused.
Apart from SP Tare, the operation was also guided by additional SP Lata Phad and sub-divisional police officer Pradeep Padvi.
