Anurag Basu ‘Chased' Irrfan Khan, Tried To Persuade Him For ‘Life In A Metro'

Last Updated: Anurag Basu also shared his experience of working with KK, as he said that it was music composer Pritam, who wanted KK to sing the cult-classic song 'Alvida'. Director Anurag Basu, who is awaiting the release of his upcoming film 'Metro…In Dino', has shared his memories of working with the late actor Irrfan, and the late singer KK in 'Life in a Metro'. The director spoke with IANS ahead of the release of 'Metro…In Dino', and recollected working with Irrfan, and said that he tried to persuade him a lot after he mixed it up initially during the narration. Anurag said that he is a very bad narrator, and that kind of affected Irrfan's judgment of the script. Anurag told IANS, 'I had chased Irrfan. When I narrated the story to Irrfan, he thought his role was not very meaty. I'm a very bad narrator. I couldn't give him confidence that his role is really good. So, I called up Sutapa, and I asked her to please convince him. She eventually convinced him, and when we shot the first scene with him, he was very happy". He further mentioned, 'We were shooting in Juhu. Sutapa called me. The scene was half way through, she said, 'Irrfan is very happy'. I told her, 'He's not telling me. He's telling you?' (laughs) Oh. So yeah, all those memories of Irrfan are priceless". He also shared his experience of working with KK, as he said that it was music composer Pritam, who wanted KK to sing the cult-classic song 'Alvida'. He said, 'Pritam really wanted KK to sing 'Alvida'. I remember he came from Pune. A lot of memories, very fond and pleasant memories". Earlier, Anurag had shared that in his opinion the film belongs more to Pritam than him. The two have been working together for almost 20 years now with 'Metro…In Dino' marking another collaboration for them. He said, ''Metro…In Dino' is more of Pritam than mine. When you see the film as a whole you will understand how music is so important for this film. It's like a thread. A string to tie everything together". When asked how both of them create chartbuster music consistently, the director said, 'It just happens. We have very similar choices of everything. From food, music to everything. I remember some of the songs and no one remembers them in the room except Pritam. Somehow our taste in music and the kind of artists we follow are very similar. There is no process of making a song and then a story". Presented by Gulshan Kumar; T-Series presents, in association with Anurag Basu Productions Pvt. Ltd., 'Metro In Dino' is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Anurag Basu, and Taani Basu. The film is set to arrive in cinemas on July 4, 2025. First Published:

Anupam Kher breaks down the ‘richness' of Kashmiri cuisine

Mumbai: Veteran actor Anupam Kher, who is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film 'Metro... In Dino', is lavishing praise on the cuisine of his homeland, Kashmir. The actor recently spoke with IANS in the run-up to the film's release, and recollected the time when he introduced actor Vinay Pathak to the Kashmiri cuisine during the shooting of 'Khosla Ka Ghosla', an earlier story which was published by IANS. Walking down the memory lane, Anupam shared how it all happened. He told IANS, 'I introduced Vinay to Kashmiri food, and he said, 'Kashmiri food is like this?' I said, 'Yes'. I introduced the cuisine to him, and I was very happy. Because he thought it must be something else. I read a lot about it recently that Vinay Pathak spoke about the incident. It was just somebody introducing me to Japanese food, a long time back'. He further mentioned, 'The richness of Kashmiri food is that there is no tomato, no onion and no garlic in it. And yet it is the tastiest cuisine. But that way India is a very rich country in terms of food. After every 500 km, you get new food. Gujarati, Marathi and different kinds of thaalis'. Earlier, Vinay had told IANS, 'I remember, Anupam introduced me to Kashmiri food for the first time. I am a vegetarian, so I thought, Kashmiri food is not for me. He told me, 'You're in for a treat. We will take you to a place'. And, he introduced me to a place in Delhi for Kashmiri cuisine. And, I fell in love with Kashmiri cuisine. We used to leave the game to give our shots. Sometimes we would play 20 questions. Anupam taught us 3-4 new games'. Presented by Gulshan Kumar & T-Series presents, in association with Anurag Basu Productions Pvt. Ltd., 'Metro In Dino' is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Anurag Basu, and Taani Basu. The film is set to arrive in cinemas on July 4, 2025.

Aditya Roy Kapur And Fatima Made Ali Fazal Wait Two Days On Metro... In Dino Set - Heres Why!

Actor Ali Fazal, who is awaiting the release of his upcoming film 'Metro... In Dino', has shared that he was quite anxious when he walked on to the sets of the film. He said that he was told by his co-actors Aditya Roy Kapur and Fatima Sana Shaikh to wait for 2 days before he gets acquainted with the method of director Anurag Basu. Ali spoke with IANS recently, and shared that he fully surrendered himself to Anurag, and didn't think of how the larger narrative of the film is shaping up. He said that Anurag had full control on the narrative, as he was at the edit table deciding the fate of the characters in a very tricky film. Speaking with IANS, Ali said, 'With somebody like him, you can trust. I was very anxious. Because all these people, Adi, Fatima. Pankaj sir have worked with him in 'Ludo'. So when I went to the set. I was like, 'What's happening? You guys are so relaxed. What's the script?' Where? What's happening?'. They told me, '2 days. And then you start understanding his method''. Earlier, the actor had shared if the muscle memory of guitar strumming in 'Give Me Sunshine' came in handy for his upcoming release. Ali essays the role of a musician in the Anurag Basu directorial, and said that while 'Give Me Sunshine' from '3 Idiots' had a very simple chord structure, the songs composed by Pritam in 'Metro... In Dino' are far more complex, and demanded a lot from him. He told IANS, 'I had to learn. For some shots, I had to really learn the chords and stuff because again, these are very complex compositions. I was like, 'You have Pritam da and all these celebrated singers and musicians. Suddenly, you are sending such complex compositions'. I said, 'I can't'. But we tried to figure out the best way'.
