Aussie slams infuriating act at gym: 'This is a charade'
A woman has ripped into a major gym franchise and accused staff of giving her the 'run-around' after she asked about membership prices. Sydney woman Tazzy said she had just moved to a new area and was doing research on which local gym would be the 'right fit' for her. She then called Anytime Fitness to ask about the price of membership before she was dragged into a '20-minute conversation' about her goals and motivation. The frustrated lawyer claimed she was roped into a tour of the premises, where she was asked to fill out a form and answer more personal questions like how many hours a night she slept and how much water she drank. 'Anyone that wasn't as clued up as me would have been fully into it, but at this point I see where this is going,' Tazzy said in a TikTok video on Thursday. 'This is a charade to distract me from some information you're about to give me that's going to make me definitely not want to join this gym.' Tazzy claimed she spent over an hour speaking to the staff member and still had no clue what the membership price was. The employee finally revealed new members were subject to a $149 enrolment fee and $99.95 access fee. Sydney woman Tazzy (pictured) said she had just moved to a new area and was doing research on new gyms in the area and which one would be the 'right fit' for her Tazzy claimed the gym offered her two types of memberships: $32-a-week for a 12-month commitment or $30 for 18 months. She explained she was interested in a monthly membership and as a rule she doesn't commit to 12-month contracts in case of unforeseen circumstances. 'I'm not signing anything that requires me to pay for an amount of time as long as 12 months,' Tazzy said. 'S*** happens, I could move out of the area, my financial situation could change.' The lawyer was told Anytime Fitness doesn't offer monthly memberships. Tazzy branded the gym 'ridiculous' as she explained she declined to join due to their pricey enrolment fees and refusal to offer monthly memberships. Social media users were divided, with many agreeing it was annoying the staff member was not upfront about the prices at the start of the conversation. 'Normalise putting membership pricing on the website,' one wrote. 'I don't want to talk to anyone ever.' 'They got me with the $80 fee for the access card, then told me immediately after I signed the contract I could just download the app and tap my phone,' another wrote. 'No physical card needed.' Others defended the gym, saying they did not share the same experience as Tazzy. 'I've never had an issue,' one commented. 'The anytime fitness near me was so transparent with pricing that was my first question and they showed me all the different options, holy heck I'm sorry about that experience girl.' 'Mine was $0 joining fee, no access fee and $15 a week. No idea why it was expensive for you,' another agreed.

Top 5 Unexpected Spots to Freshen Up on the Road: Tips for Today's Digital Nomad
Life as a digital nomad is thrilling, flexible, and packed with adventure. But let's be honest—sometimes it's hard to stay fresh between long flights, bus rides, and spontaneous detours. You don't always have the luxury of a hotel room, and let's face it, public restrooms aren't exactly spa-like. That's why knowing where to stop and refresh can be a game-changer. Here are five unexpected but totally effective places where modern travelers and remote workers can clean up, relax, and recharge without breaking the bank. 1. Private Home Bathrooms via Sharing Apps This might sound surprising, but you can now rent a bathroom by the hour through apps like Shower Share. Think Airbnb, but just for showers. Whether you need a quick refresh before a meeting or a proper shower after a red-eye flight, you can book clean, private spaces near you with a few taps. Shower rental near me has become a popular search term among travelers who prefer more privacy than gyms or gas stations can offer. It's affordable, safe, and often located exactly where you need it—urban hubs, near transit centers, and even suburban neighborhoods. 2. Airport Lounges (Without First Class Tickets) You don't need to be flying business class to access airport lounges anymore. Many offer day passes or memberships that grant you access to showers, lounges, snacks, and Wi-Fi. For example, Priority Pass has hundreds of lounges worldwide where you can clean up during long layovers. If you travel frequently, this can be a solid investment. But even if you're not a frequent flyer, purchasing a lounge pass for a single trip can make a long day feel luxurious. 3. Gyms and Fitness Clubs (Even as a Visitor) Major gym chains like Anytime Fitness, LA Fitness, or Planet Fitness offer day passes, allowing travelers to access their facilities. These gyms usually have showers, lockers, and sometimes even saunas. It's a great way to fit in a quick workout and take a proper shower afterward. Even better, many gyms are open 24/7 and are found in both large cities and smaller towns. 4. Highway Rest Stops with Full-Service Amenities Not all rest stops are created equal. Some of the larger highway stations across the U.S. offer full-service rest areas, including private showers, changing rooms, and even laundry facilities. These are commonly used by truck drivers but are open to everyone. They're especially helpful on long road trips where hotel stops aren't practical. Just bring a towel and a travel-size toiletry kit, and you're set. 5. Boutique Co-Working Spaces with Facilities As remote work becomes more widespread, co-working spaces are upping their game. Many now include shower rooms and wellness areas for their members. You don't need a monthly pass—just check which ones offer day passes. It's a smart option if you want to be productive for a few hours and clean up before your next journey. Some even have meditation rooms and quiet pods. Bonus Tip: Book a private restroom in NYC or other metro areas Cities like New York can be overwhelming when you're trying to find a clean, quiet space. That's where Shower Share shines. You can browse listings and find private restroom in NYC to take a break from the chaos—perfect for nomads attending events, meetings, or just needing a minute to reset. Flexibility and location are everything when you're on the move. You don't always need a full hotel room, just a clean, safe place to freshen up. That's why the rise of on-demand services like Shower Share is such a win for remote workers. These services are also great for digital nomads who want to rent out your shower when they're not traveling. Hosting gives you extra income, while booking gives you control and convenience. It's a modern solution to an age-old travel problem. As a digital nomad, your schedule is yours—but so are your hygiene and comfort needs. With these five unconventional but reliable options, you can keep moving without compromising how you feel. From gyms and lounges to local bathrooms listed on sharing apps, you now have more ways than ever to stay fresh on the road. So next time you're wondering where to clean up, skip the gas station sink and book yourself a proper refresh. It's never been easier to travel clean. TIME BUSINESS NEWS

‘Just wow': Anytime Fitness slammed over ad
A controversial ad posted by Anytime Fitness has been scrubbed from the internet after a mountain of negative feedback. The video, posted by Marrickville Anytime Fitness, showed a worker hiding behind the gym before leaping out at a passerby. The worker then pretends to 'knock out' the passerby with chloroform before dragging them into the venue and making them sign a membership contract while unconscious. 'When our boss tells us to sign up more members,' the video was captioned. The video was posted to the Marrickville Community group and quickly received dozens of negative comments. 'FYI drugging and kidnapping women is not a cute and acceptable marketing strategy,' one wrote. Another wrote: 'Seriously? Who thought a video showing a member of your team kidnapping someone off the street, doping them so they lose consciousness and then forging their signature for a monthly membership would be a good marketing idea.' The video remained up with the negative comments deleted before it was eventually taken down. 'Just wow. I am so speechless about how tone deaf the original post was but then how you've doubled down by refusing to remove it and deleting negative comments,' one commenter wrote. Anytime Fitness did not respond to multiple requests for comment by The faux pas comes just days after a popular teeth-whitening brand was forced to issue an apology for its latest advertising campaign. White Glo's new ad, emblazoned with the phrase 'Make the white choice', has been spotted on Melbourne trams and Sydney buses in recent days, quickly sparking a wave of backlash online. In a statement, White Glo said that while the ads were 'purely about teeth whitening, with no other intended meaning' they would be working to remove the ads due to the offence caused. 'Our ads feature the tagline 'Make the White Choice' which is intended to be a wordplay on 'Make the Right Choice', to highlight the effectiveness and reliability of our products, versus some less effective products we are seeing emerge in the market,' a statement read. 'Whilst this campaign was accepted by Australia's Advertising Regulator in April, the response in the last couple of days has indicated that we have missed the mark.'

Anytime Fitness prepares to take on the 'Murph'
BRANDON, S.D. (KELO) — A fitness center in Brandon is honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice with a special event this holiday weekend. Mary Lou Lacey is a regular at Anytime Fitness in Brandon. 'I come into Anytime Fitness at least six days a week, sometimes more than once a day,' Brandon resident Mary Lou Lacey said. South Dakota agencies seek out ICE authority under 287(g) The 68-year-old is also a Veteran. 'I was in the Army. I was a truck driver for three years, I was mainly on the east coast in Virginia,' Lacey said. This morning, Mary Lou's getting in a few squats, just one of the requirements of the 'Murph'. 'So, it's 1-mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, and 300 squats, and then you come back in and you do your last 1-mile run as a finisher (laugh),' Lacey said. Mary Lou says the mental aspect is the most challenging part of the workout, which is a tribute to Lieutenant Michael Murphy, a Navy Seal who was killed in action in 2005. 'We all want to be remembered and he gave us everything, so we're going to remember that by doing this challenge,' Lacey said. 'It is a wonderful way to truly remember what Memorial Day is all about, those that gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms so we can come here as a community and do a workout like this as a group,' Anytime Fitness owner Jayme Smid said. Jayme Smid owns Anytime Fitness and encourages people of any fitness level to participate. 'We'll break it up and we'll do 25 pull-ups or 50 push-ups at a time, so it doesn't have to be that daunting 200 number, because at the end of the day while it's going to challenge you no matter what fitness level you're at we want you to feel accomplished,' Smid said. And Mary Lou says it's worth the pain. 'It's going to make you feel good, it's going to hurt, but in the long run you're going to feel good and you're going to feel like you respected someone who sacrificed for us,' Lacey said. The 'Murph' starts at 8:00 Saturday morning at Anytime Fitness in Brandon. There's no cost to participate, but you are encouraged to pre-register.
