St. Louis Cardinals at Cleveland Guardians odds, picks and predictions
The St. Louis Cardinals (44-38) face the Cleveland Guardians (40-39) in the opener of a 3-game set Friday. First pitch from Progressive Field in Cleveland is set for 7:10 p.m. ET. (Apple TV+) Let's analyze BetMGM Sportsbook's MLB odds around the Cardinals vs. Guardians odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets. Season series: First meeting; St. Louis won 2-1 last year The Cards split a 4-game set against the division-leading Chicago Cubs in what was a bit of a letdown. They won the first 2 games, and the pitching imploded in an 8-0 stinker Wednesday. The bats remained silent in a 3-0 loss Thursday. The Cards managed just 3 hits Thursday. Before that, though, they plated 5+ runs in 6 of 7 games. The Guardians dropped 2 of 3 home games to the Toronto Blue Jays with the latest a 6-0 defeat Thursday. They still managed 17 runs in the previous 4 games to that shutout. 3B Jose Ramirez (forearm) left the game Thursday after he was hit on the right forearm with a pitch. He's questionable, and if he's ruled out, the odds will certainly change. Cardinals at Guardians projected starters RHP Sonny Gray vs. RHP Luis Ortiz Gray (7-2, 3.72 ERA) makes his 16th start. He has a 1.19 WHIP, 1.8 BB/9 and 9.6 K/9 through 84 2/3 innings. Ortiz (4-8, 4.30 ERA) makes his 16th start. He has a 1.41 WHIP, 4.5 BB/9 and 10.0 K/9 through 81 2/3 innings. Cardinals at Guardians picks and predictions Cardinals 6, Guardians 4 Moneyline I like the Cardinals regardless of Ramirez's status. The wind is blowing out, and after they were shut out 2 games in a row, the Cardinals are going to come out mashing. Take the CARDINALS (-130). Run line/Against the spread I don't care for either side here. PASS. Over/Under Gray has a bad past against Cleveland, and Ortiz gives up far too many walks. Add those in with the 90-degree day and 9-mph wind blowing out to right-center, and I'll take the OVER 8.5 (-115). Play our free daily Pick'em Challenge and win! Play now! Apple really, really wants you to go see its 'F1' movie
Apple's promotion of "F1: The Movie" has included notifications, vibrating trailers, surprise star visits, and more. The film's marketing includes immersive experiences on the AppleTV app and a Met Gala nod. It's not clear how much Apple spent making and promoting "F1" — but it is clear the iPhone giant put on the red carpet for it. An iPhone notification. A surprise Brad Pitt appearance at an Apple store. A fancy trailer that makes your iPhone rumble. Apple is going all out for its big-budget "F1" movie. If you own an iPhone or visited one of the company's retail stores recently, you've likely noticed the promotional push as the Apple synergy machine kicked into gear. Apple has pulled many of its levers across various channels to drum up excitement for its latest original film, "F1: The Movie," which arrived in theaters Friday. It's a marketing flex that few companies aside from Apple are capable of, since they don't have the massive built-in install base of the iPhone. Apple's strategy of continuing to make big-budget movies has some, including Business Insider's Peter Kafka, scratching their heads. The tech giant's marketing push around "F1," though, makes sense — Apple's got skin in the game for this movie. Not all of Apple's marketing tactics have gone smoothly, though. On Tuesday, some iPhone users took to social media to complain about a notification on their home screen that turned out to be an ad sent from the Wallet app tied to the movie. The promo offered $10 off two tickets to see "F1" when you purchase from Fandango using Apple Pay. Sure, you could easily dismiss the notification and move on with your day, but some compared it to Apple's free U2 album that it added to iPhone users' libraries. There have also been some pretty creative marketing efforts. If you have an iPhone, you can watch a special version of the "F1" trailer in the AppleTV app that activates the phone's haptic engines (basically fancy vibrations), so that your device rumbles along with the vehicles' engines. (You'll also be encouraged to buy tickets when you open the app.) Experience the new @F1Movie trailer on iPhone in a way only Apple can deliver. — Tim Cook (@tim_cook) June 11, 2025 And for even more immersion, Apple's Maps app allows you to virtually check out the famous tracks where "F1" was filmed. Then there was Apple's big annual Worldwide Developers Conference, which took place in the weeks leading up to the movie's release. Its Formula 1-themed intro featured Apple exec Craig Federighi driving laps on top of Apple's "spaceship" HQ. At one point, Tim Cook looks right at the camera and says, "Yes, F1, baby." In May, actor Damson Idris, who stars in the movie alongside Brad Pitt, walked the carpet of the Met Gala in an F1 driver's uniform and helmet before unveiling a suit underneath. He held on to his helmet as an accessory. Exactly how much Apple invested to make "F1" a reality isn't clear. Initial reports said that the movie cost around $300 million to make (not counting its marketing budget). However, producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Joseph Kosinski said that wasn't the case in an interview with Deadline last year. In reality, Bruckheimer said, the estimate was "tens of millions of dollars out of whack." "We can't give you a number because that's Apple's money and they can talk about it," Bruckheimer said. "But what I think you can say is it's quite a bit lower than what's been reported." Apple did not immediately respond to a Business Insider's request for comment on the budget. Some of Apple's investments in movies have proven success in the past. AppleTV+ made a name for itself in the film industry with "CODA," a 2021 coming-of-age movie that went on to win Best Picture at the 2022 Academy Awards, making it the first film released by a streamer to win the top award at the Oscars. On June 15, people attending a panel discussion for another AppleTV+ offering, "Severance," were surprised when Brad Pitt came out to promote "F1." Tim Cook was there too, and he made sure to mention that the movie included footage filmed using the same camera technology you can buy in the latest iPhones. 'I Don't Want To Sound Woo Woo': Ted Lasso's Brett Goldstein Drops An F-Bomb While Explaining Why He Warmed Up To The Idea Of Making Season 4
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. About two years after Ted Lasso's Season 3 finale and the presumed ending of the Apple TV+ comedy, it was announced that the series will indeed be returning. It's unknown when, and we don't know who will be part of it yet, but the fact that Season 4 is actually happening is cause for celebration. For a while, it was hard to tell if another season was possible, but luckily, fans won't have to wonder any longer. Now, Roy Kent himself, Brett Goldstein, is revealing why he eventually warmed up to doing another season, and his explanation obviously included an f-bomb. Not only is Goldstein part of the Ted Lasso cast as Roy Kent, but he is also a writer on the show. So he's part of the team that's making decisions about where this next story will go. Now, while talking about Season 4 of Ted Lasso on Vulture's Good One podcast with Jesse David Fox, the Emmy winner opened up about why he warmed up to the idea of returning to Richmond, saying: I think it's to do with the people and the characters and the actors. You have this plan, but then this world starts to build in front of you, and you fall in love with things you didn't know you'd fall in love with. I don't want to sound woo woo, but I do mean this. You still have to stay open to the signs. You always have a plan, but the plan will change because someone is different and what everyone brings. So yes, we've stuck to that plan, but there's so many new, wonderful things within it, that it's like, 'Oh, we could [do more]. I think, I don't know, do you want to hang out in that world anymore? And if so, it's only worth doing if you're going to do it as well [as you've done] if not better.' For a while, it was assumed that Season 3 of Ted Lasso was it, but even though some stories were wrapped up, it was clear that the door wasn't fully closed, and there was potential for a fourth installment or spinoffs. Not only was there still interest within the cast, but fans probably kept their hopes up, too, that something would happen, no matter how much time had passed. Now, even though not much has been shared about what exactly Ted Lasso Season 4 will consist of, it's clear that there are some exciting ideas churning, and Goldstein dropped an appropriate f-bomb while explaining it: When the idea is there, if you remain open to it and the idea comes, you're like, 'Oh! That's a good one.' But then you're like, 'Fuck! Maybe there is more.' Apple TV Plus: 7-Day Free TrialBELIEVE it, people, you can get Apple TV+ for one week for free, which gives you enough time to binge the first three seasons of Ted Lasso. Then, make sure to keep it around for $9.99 per month so you can watch Season 4 whenever it comes out. View Deal When previously asked about returning for Ted Lasso Season 4, Goldstein used an analogy about a dead cat coming back to life, and it was weirdly fitting. You have to move on, but you still hope and pray that somehow it gets brought back to life because a part of you knows this shouldn't be the end. In the case of the cat, it wasn't dead. And in the case of Ted Lasso, even after saying goodbye, they still returned for another round. Now, the wait for Season 4 could be a long one, but fans have already been waiting for almost two years for news on a fourth season. So, waiting a little bit longer for it to actually come out shouldn't be too painful. Additionally, more news about the new season is expected to be released as they continue developing it, so hopefully, we'll learn more about the cast and the plot sooner rather than later. Ted Lasso continues to be one of the best shows on Apple TV+, so it's not surprising that it's finally coming back. It's unknown when it will eventually return, but for now, fans can watch the first three seasons with an Apple TV+ subscription.

Box Office: F1 takes a promising start domestically on preview Thursday; Crushes India predictions but gets subdued response in China
Brad Pitt led F1, directed by Joseph Kosinski is buzzing, thanks to terrific reviews all across the board. The movie has started strong at the domestic box office by amassing little over USD 10 million from Thursday previews, which also includes paid fan screenings. This has set the movie up beautifully for a USD 55-65 million weekend. With very positive reception, we can expect the racing film to leg to USD 200 million, despite some stiff rivals in the form of Jurassic World Rebirth and Superman in the coming weeks. F1 Takes A Solid Start In North America; Movie Crushes Predictions In India But Not In China Internationally, the opening of F1 has been a mixed bag. In India, F1 has taken among the best starts for a non-IP Hollywood movie in India. As per early estimates, the movie's numbers are over Rs 5 crore net. It may even be Rs 6 crore but that shall be known by tomorrow when the final numbers come from all chains. This is an impressive number given the fact that the movie is sharing screenspace with big Indian movies - Sitaare Zameen Par, Maa and Kannappa. A weekend of Rs 20 crore net is on the cards and a Final Destination: Bloodlines like trend should propel this Brad Pitt movie to over Rs 60 crore net. In China, F1 has only grossed USD 2.6 million in two days. USD 900k came on Thursday while USD 1.7 million has come on Friday. The weekend of the movie looks to be around USD 7 million, strictly based on its positive reception. It is the third most preferred movie option of the weekend, below Detective Conan 28 and She's Got No Name. F1 Is A Pricey Movie And Needs Around USD 500 Million To Breakeven Theatrically Made at a production budget of over USD 200 million, the racing movie needs USD 500 million atleast for a theatrical breakeven. There's a lot of work required to get to this number but with the start, the movie may just fancy getting to that number. It is already projected to be Apple TV's biggest weekend opener, so that's a good note to open with. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates on F1.

Apple TV+'s latest series does the worst thing for a new show but I can't help recommend it
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info *Warning - this article contains minor spoilers for the opening scene in Smoke, episode one* Apple TV+'s latest series does the worst thing a new show could possibly do, in my opinion, but I still can't help but recommend it. The first two episodes of Smoke are now available. It is the latest prestigious and original television drama series from the company. It comes after the likes of Your Friends & Neighbors, The Studio, Stick, Dope Thief, Murderbot and Prime Target all releasing earlier this year. That's a lot of new shows demanding your attention. As a film and TV writer and critic, I'm able to see shows before they're released. So, let it be known that as of writing, I have so far watched the first five episodes of the nine-part season. Three of those will not be available to subscribers until July. This is crucial, as had I only watched the premiere streaming now, I would most likely tell you not to bother at all with Smoke. (Image: Apple) An early review of Smoke claimed it is "nine great hours of television." That's the thing. The reviewer had clearly watched all nine hours, as had they only watched the first two, it would be described quite differently. Be warned, as I'm about to mention some aspects of what happens in Smoke's opening moments. However, it could lead you to realising you can skip the first 10 minutes or so. The series follows troubled detective, Michelle Calderone, played by Jurnee Smollett, who is made to team up with arson investigator, Dave Gudsen, played by Taron Egerton, as they track down two serial arsonists. Their investigation turns into a "twisted game of secrets and suspicions" as they try to track down those responsible for the alarming crimes. The series is inspired by true events and the acclaimed Firebug podcast. Those familiar with that podcast will already know where the biggest plot point leads. At least it is for me personally. These include a voiceover. There really needs to be a good reason for this tactic. It cannot be just describing what should be shown or utilising flowery language about the show's theme. There's also intermittent flashbacks. You want to show a past or future event before telling the audience we are actually days later or before said event? Fine. But don't keep flashing between past and present as if you couldn't decide where the story should start. Smoke manages to do every one of these things. Taron Egerton's character begins trapped in a burning building, his voiceover pointlessly droning about fires then - he wakes up! When our other lead character is introduced, we get more intermittent flashbacks for her. However, despite all those tropes, which is surprising they are even present considering the episode is penned by an experienced writer in Dennis Lehane, I recommend most viewers to push on. We come to one of the other worst things that a review could tell a potential audience. You're going to have to make it through the first two episodes before knowing if this show is for you. By the final scene of the second episode and its huge plot twist, I've gone from wanting to give up, to needing to know what's next. (Image: Apple) From episode three, Egerton's arson investigator is more than just a terrible stepfather, there's a side the show is delicately peeling away to reveal. Detective Calderone is now interesting when actually investigating the story's central crime rather than reflecting on an affair, and I need to know just what is going on with Ntare Mwine's Freddy Fasano. The show's weekly release schedule could be an issue here, as perhaps it is better as a binge watch. Smoke is not the best show of the year. It's not even Apple's best new series of 2025 (The Studio, if you were wondering) but I still find myself attracted to its flames, needing to know how it all ends and recommending it to anyone who is after a twisty crime drama. Smoke is streaming on Apple TV+.
