Why Ringo Starr wanted a rewrite of his story in the Beatles biopic
Sam Mendes is directing four separate biopics about The Beatles, with each film focusing on a different band member's perspective. The films are scheduled to premiere in April 2028, with Mendes describing the release as the first binge-able theatrical experience. Ringo Starr personally reviewed and provided extensive notes on the script, telling The New York Times some of the original depictions of him and his first wife Maureen were inaccurate. 'That's not how we were. I'd say, 'We would never do that',' he told the publication. Barry Keoghan, cast as Ringo Starr, met the musician at his home to observe his mannerisms and prepare for the role, aiming to humanise the portrayal. Paul Mescal, Joseph Quinn, and Harris Dickinson are cast as Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and John Lennon respectively, with award-winning writers also attached to the project.
