Shots fired at Chicago police officer in unmarked car in Englewood

Shots were fired at a Chicago police officer Wednesday evening in the Englewood neighborhood. Police said the officer was driving in an unmarked car in the 300 block of West 60th Street, when the officer passed three people in a vacant lot, and two of them pulled out guns and started shooting. The officer was not injured, and no other injuries were reported. No one was in custody Wednesday night. Area 1 detectives were investigating.

4 wounded in shooting at laundromat on Chicago's South Side

Four people were wounded in a shooting inside a laundromat Saturday afternoon in the Woodlawn neighborhood. Police said, shortly before 4 p.m., the victims were inside a laundromat in the 800 block of East 63rd Street, when two people walked in, pulled out handguns, and started shooting. A 31-year-old man was shot multiple times, and was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. A 25-year-old man was shot in the leg, and was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition. A male victim of unknown age suffered a graze wound, and took himself to University of Chicago Medical Center. Another male victim of unknown age also suffered a graze wound, and took himself to Comer Children's Hospital. No one was in custody Saturday evening. Area 1 detectives were investigating.

Man found fatally stabbed in alley in Washington Park, police say

An investigation is underway after a man was found fatally stabbed in an alley Monday morning on the city's South Side. Chicago police said the victim was found shortly after 7:30 a.m. in the 6200 block of South Michigan Avenue in the Washington Park neighborhood. They said the victim, believed to be between 20 and 30 years of age, was found unresponsive in the alley, with a cut to the left side of his neck. He was pronounced dead at the scene. As of Monday, no one is in custody. Area 1 detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Man stabbed during attempted robbery in West Woodlawn neighborhood

A 34-year-old man was taken to the hospital after being stabbed during an attempted robbery early Sunday morning on the city's South Side. Chicago police said around 4 a.m., the victim was on the sidewalk in the 700 block of East Marquette Road in the West Woodlawn neighborhood when he was approached by two men who tried to take his belongings at knifepoint. When the victim refused, the men stabbed him in his stomach before leaving the scene in an unknown direction. He was taken to St. Bernards Hospital in fair condition. No arrests were made. Man, 62, shot while passing group in South Shore, police say

A 62-year-old man was taken to the hospital early Friday morning after being shot in the South Shore neighborhood. It happened around 2:44 a.m. in the 7100 block of South Bennett Avenue. Chicago police said the victim was walking by a group who were arguing, followed by the sound of gunfire. The victim was hit once in the leg and was taken to Provident Hospital in good condition. Police said he was unable to give any further details about the shooting. As of Friday afternoon, there is no one in custody. Area 1 detectives are investigating.
