Modi in Argentina LIVE: PM to meet Argentina President Milei

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today (July 5, 2025) will hold wide-ranging talks with Argentina President Milei as he kicks off the third leg of a five-nation tour. According to the MEA, the bilateral engagement will focus on further boosting India-Argentina partnership in key areas including defence, agriculture, mining, oil and gas, renewable energy, trade and investment. Mr. Modi will also pay homage to Jose de San Martin, widely regarded as the Father of the Argentine Nation, at the Plaza de San Martin in Buenos Aires. This is the first Indian bilateral visit at the Prime Ministerial level to Argentina in 57 years. It is Modi's second visit to the country as prime minister; he had visited in 2018 for the G20 Summit. In the fourth leg of his visit, Modi will travel to Brazil to attend the 17th BRICS Summit, followed by a state visit. In the final leg of his visit, Modi will travel to Namibia. Buenos Aires [Argentina], July 5 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Argentina for his third leg of a five-nation tour. He landed at the Ezeiza International Airport, Buenos Aires. PM Modi is on an official visit to Argentina at the invitation of President of the Republic of Argentina, Javier Milei. PM Modi is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with President Milei to review ongoing cooperation and discuss ways to further enhance India-Argentina partnership in key areas, including defence, agriculture, mining, oil and gas, renewable energy, trade and investment, and people-to-people ties Earlier, Indian Ambassador to Argentina Ajaneesh Kumar, laying out the itinerary of the PM's visit, told ANI that upon reaching Argentina, PM Modi will be received by the Indian community in Buenos Aires. On the next day, PM, Modi will pay homage to Jose de San Martin, widely regarded as the Father of the Argentine Nation, at the Plaza de San Martin in Buenos Aires. PM Modi will also hold delegation-level talks with Argentine President Javier Milei, and thereafter, he will visit the famous Boca Juniors Stadium to have a look at Argentine football. 'Prime Minister arrives late in the evening... He will be received by the community... The next day, the Prime Minister will pay his respects and homage to the father of the Argentine nation. He's commonly known as the Libertadores Plaza de San Martin. At the Plaza, he would be joined by the foreign minister of this country. Thereafter, he will have an official delegation-level meeting at the Casa Rosada, which is the president's office. He will meet the President of Argentina, Javier Milei. In the afternoon, before he departs, we have scheduled a small visit for him at the Boca Juniors Stadium, where he will get a look at the Argentine football,' Ajaneesh Kumar said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Argentina on Saturday as part of his five-nation visit. The Indian community welcomed him in the capital, Buenos Aires. PM Modi is in Argentina on an official visit on July 4 and 5, at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Argentina, Javier Milei.(DPR PMO) Argentina is the third leg of PM Modi's five-nation tour after Ghana, and Trinidad and Tobago. It will be followed by visits to Brazil for the 17th BRICS Summit and to Namibia. Ahead of Modi's visit, Indian ambassador to Argentina Ajaneesh Kumar hailed it a "momentous occasion," noting it will be the first bilateral visit by an Indian PM in over five decades. Laying out the itinerary of the PM's visit, Ambassador Kumar told ANI that the PM will pay homage to Jose de San Martin, widely regarded as the Father of the Argentine Nation, at the Plaza de San Martin in Buenos Aires. PM Modi will also hold delegation-level talks with Argentine President Javier Milei. Afterwards, he will visit the famous Boca Juniors Stadium to observe Argentine football. Ambassador Kumar also emphasised that this will be the Indian Prime Minister's first visit in over five decades and mentioned the "multifaceted" relations between both nations. "Prime Minister had the occasion to meet the President of Argentina last November during the G20 in Brazil. This visit will only consolidate the points discussed during the last meeting. India and Argentina relations are multifaceted. We have cooperation across a range of subjects. It was only last year that we celebrated 75 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries," he said. The rest of PM Narendra Modi's five-nation visit PM Modi is in Buenos Aires at the official invitation of the President of the Republic of Argentina. After completing his visit to Argentina, PM Modi will head to Brazil from July 5 to July 8 to attend the 17th BRICS Summit 2025. In the final leg of his five-nation tour, the PM will visit Namibia and also address its parliament.
