F1 box office Day 3: Brad Pitt's racing drama off to a roaring $144 million start
Brad Pitt's racing drama 'F1' is speeding into the hearts of audiences - and the box office. Directed by Joseph Kosinski, the film, which hit theatres in India on June 27, raked in a whopping $144 million globally in its opening by Jerry Bruckheimer and seven-time Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton, 'F1' follows retired F1 driver Sonny Hayes (played by Pitt), who makes a comeback to the sport. Teaming up with rookie driver Joshua Pearce (played by Damson Idris), Sonny joins the struggling ApxGP team in a bid to revive its to Variety, the film earned more than $55.6 million from international markets, including $9.2 million in the UK, $9 million in China, and $6.7 million in Mexico.
'F1' has become the biggest commercial hit for Apple, which had previously produced modest performers like Killers of the Flower Moon, Napoleon, and India, as per F1 has earned Rs 21.25 crore so far. It opened at Rs 5.5 crore and saw its highest collection on its first Sunday with Rs 8 crore. With glowing reviews and a strong box office run, 'F1' shows no signs of slowing down and is poised for even greater success in the coming film stars Brad Pitt, Damson Idris, Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, and Javier Bardem.
