Kaizer Chiefs told to fork out R15 million for Bafana star

Cyprian club Aris Limassol are reportedly placed a price tag of R15 million for Mihlali Mayambela as Kaizer Chiefs are looking to bring the Bafana Bafana winger to Naturena. The 28-year-old has expressed his desire to join Amakhosi in a recent interview. Mayambela's contract with Limassol runs until 2026 but it looks Chiefs are pushing for a move. Soccer Laduma reported that Aris Limassol demanded approximately R15 million from Kaizer Chiefs, and not R5 million that was previously stated. 'I can tell you now that no team can refuse to pay R5 million for a player of Mihlali's calibre. Have you seen the players the team has signed so far this season? And the amount they have paid? It's around that R5 million for some of them and how could they fail to pay the same amount for an international Bafana Bafana player? So, Aris Limassol demanded around R15 million with one year left on the player's contract. This is why the club felt that was too much hence it's believed they put it on hold for now,' the source told Soccer Laduma . The publication also reported that Kaizer Chiefs could look at signing Mayambela in January instead of paying R15 million now. In six months time, the winger could even sign a pre-contract with the Soweto giants. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 0211. Kaizer Chiefs transfer news: Mihlali Mayambela deal stalls over hefty R15 million price tag

Kaizer Chiefs' pursuit of Bafana Bafana star Mihlali Mayambela has hit a bit of a speed bump after the club was quoted a hefty sum. Mayambela turns out for Cypriot outfit Aris Limassol and is contracted until the end of next season. The player has been a key figure for his club, helping them to the league title in his first season and second place during 2024/25. His consistent performances and winning experience in Europe have naturally made him an attractive option for Kaizer Chiefs, especially as they look to accelerate their rebuild under Nasreddine Nabi in his second season. According to a Soccer Laduma report, Chiefs have put their pursuit of the player on hold after they were told they would need to part with R15 million to get the deal done and bring the 28-year-old back to South Africa.

Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana winger: What happened?

Kaizer Chiefs target Mihlali Mayambela is seemingly remaining with Aris Limassol in Cyprus. The 28-year-old was heavily linked with a return to Amakhosi this winter. Before moving to Sweden's Djurgården aged 18, Mayambela played professional football in the Motsepe Foundation Championship with Cape Town All Stars. The former Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates development player became a journeyman abroad via countries like Portugal, Israel and Cyprus in the Middle East. Image: samsonmayambela/X According to this update, his club, Limassol, expected far more than Kaizer Chiefs expected for a player with one year left on his contract. Kaizer Chiefs to make a big announcement 'You know it's believed that personal terms between the player and the club were agreed but apparently his club were looking for a big transfer fee while he has only one year left on his contract,' an insider told Soccer Laduma . 'And looking at the other players they signed so far it's believed Kaizer Chiefs felt the asking price was too much and that's why they had to put the move on hold. But they were really interested in signing him, and the player was also happy to come back home,' the insider added. 'It's not over yet. It's apparently just for this window period. They are considering wanting for him to have a free agent status around January and make the second move. But that will also depend on whether Aris Limassol will already renewed his contract or not. That's what Kaizer Chiefs will be working on for now,' the source concluded. Why the Mihlali Mayambela move to Kaizer Chiefs may not work out

Mihlali Mayambela's potential move from Aris Limassol to Kaizer Chiefs faces challenges due to his key role in Cyprus, a high transfer fee, and Limassol's contract renewal option, despite interest from Chiefs and discussions with Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr. Picture: Muzi Ntombela, BackpagePix With the rumours swirling that Mihlali Mayambela may be considering a move from Aris Limassol to Kaizer Chiefs, whether the player will actually make the move back home is now seemingly less likely. The 28-year-old Bafana Bafana player is currently filling a key role at the club in Cyprus, and a hefty price tag might dissuade the Soweto Giants from making a big move for his signature. According to Kick Off, Chiefs would have to fork out around R4 million for Mayambela. The website also reports that Limassol may also invoke the option to renew Mayambela's contract.

Bafana Bafana winger on Kaizer Chiefs move

Mihlali Mayambela to Kaizer Chiefs? The Bafana Bafana winger has broken his silence on transfer rumours linking him with a move to the Betway Premiership giants. The talented left-footed attacker from Khayelitsha, currently based in Cyprus, confirmed that talks have taken place — but insists nothing is final yet. Mayambela's name surfaced multiple times during the current transfer window, as Kaizer Chiefs look to rebuild under Nasreddine Nabi. Fans have wondered whether the 28-year-old could be part of that project. R3 million payment for Orlando Pirates coach Mihlali Mayambela in action for Aris Limassol in Cyprus. Image: samsonmayambela/X The Aris Limassol star has revealed that he made contact with Amakhosi's Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Jr, but a move to Naturena may not be immediate. 'There was a conversation,' Mayambela said as per FARPost . 'You know the club is moving in a different direction, you can see the amount of signings they've made now. Orlando Pirates news: 100k salary and coach in hospital 'I'm in a place where I don't need to move if I don't have to,' the former Cape Town All Stars attacker explained. 'But there is an interest from Kaizer Chiefs and there was talks between me and the Sporting Director. He's doing his job; he's trying to build a good squad to bring back the glory days. 'Being at Kaizer Chiefs is my, maybe this guy's dream [points to his older brother Mark Mayambela]. I don't know if it will happen, [or rather] will it happen? Maybe I can say yes more than a no — but I don't know when, it doesn't only depend on me,' Mayambela concluded. WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THIS STORY?
