Hiker Hannah Moody's body was found near an AZ preserve. What to know about how she died

Avid hiker and Scottsdale resident Hannah Moody was found lifeless in May near the Sonoran Mountain Preserve. Authorities have now disclosed her cause of death. The 31-year-old social media content creator regularly chronicled her hiking and other experiences on her Instagram and TikTok accounts with "warmth and light," said Hannah Moody's brother, Joel Moody. A native of Northern California, Hannah Moody relocated to Scottsdale some eight months prior to her death. She previously lived in Arizona, according to her mother, Terry Moody. She was residing in Charleston, South Carolina but missed hiking the Grand Canyon State, Hannah Moody's mother said. Here is everything known about how Hannah Moody lived and died. According to the Maricopa County Medical Examiner's Office, Hannah Moody's primary cause of death was heat exposure. Her manner of death was ruled an accident. Around 12:05 p.m. May 22, Hannah Moody's body was found approximately 600 yards — just over a third of a mile — off-trail from a parking lot at the Sonoran Mountain Preserve. Friends reported Hannah Moody missing at 7:50 p.m. May 21 after they did not hear from her, according to Scottsdale police. Officers found her parked vehicle after checking the trailhead where she was last seen, police detailed. An on-foot and drone search began that evening and went on for five hours, police said. A search was resumed the next day before her remains were recovered, police explained. The National Weather Service reported that on the last day Hannah Moody was seen hiking, temperatures reached 102 degrees at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. Joel Moody said that Hannah Moody was a loving aunt to his and their brother Ethan Moody's children. Her friend Megan Pasquel said Hannah Moody had a natural ability to draw people in. She was "always being very kind to anyone she met," Pasquel said. A Christian who openly shared her faith, Hannah Moody, her mother said, was an "online missionary for Jesus." Texas Bolsters Bitcoin With Sanctuary Designation

(Texas Scorecard) – Senate Bill 21, drafted by State Sen. Charles Schwertner (R–Georgetown) and signed into law by Gov. Greg Abbott on Sunday, June 20, creates the Texas Strategic Bitcoin Reserve. The reserve will be used to diversify the state's investments, giving the Texas comptroller discretionary power to manage the reserve separately from the general fund. Texas joins Arizona and New Hampshire, who established their own cryptocurrency reserves in May. Texas' initiative, however, has received more praise from cryptocurrency advocates for its built-in flexibility. Arizona's reserve only pertains to cryptocurrency seized by the state as unclaimed or abandoned assets or confiscated in criminal investigations. It does not allow direct investments in the reserve. New Hampshire's reserve limits state cryptocurrency investment to a '5 percent cap of the total amount of public funds.' Unlike the reserves in Arizona and New Hampshire, Texas' Bitcoin reserve has no official cap. The comptroller has the discretionary authority to buy, sell, and hold cryptocurrency. This means that Texas has an unlimited capacity for investments in Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies that have an 'average market capitalization of at least $500 billion over the most recent 24-month period.' This flexibility enables Texas to increase its Bitcoin reserve as a hedge against periods when the dollar's value is volatile or, when the need arises, to dump the reserve periodically to save its investments. President Donald Trump signed an executive order in March to create the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve and the U.S. Digital Asset Stockpile. Both of these federal cryptocurrency reserves follow a framework of forfeiture and seizure much like Arizona's. In addition, they are prevented from receiving direct investments. Texas has the first fully unrestricted Bitcoin reserve in America, making it the leading Bitcoin sanctuary in the nation. iPhone hack that lets travelers in nine states race through airport security

Apple has rolled out an update across nine states that's being hailed as a game-changer for travelers. Users can now add their driver's license or state ID to Apple Wallet, allowing them to breeze through airport security with just a tap of their iPhone or Apple Watch. Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Iowa, Maryland, New Mexico, and Ohio have activated the feature. Other states, including Connecticut, Kentucky, Utah, and New York, have announced plans to join the Apple Wallet ID system, but full integration is still pending. To add your ID, open Apple Wallet, tap the Add button, and select Driver's License or State ID. Choose your state from the list, then follow the prompts to scan your physical ID. At Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoints that support the feature, simply tap your iPhone or Apple Watch on the reader. The system will request the necessary identity information, which you approve with Face ID or Touch ID. There's no need to unlock your phone or hand it over to anyone. Apple wants to eliminate the need for traditional documents to digital wallets, starting with boarding passes and now extending to government-issued IDs. The rollout of Apple's digital ID system began three years ago and has been expanding ever since. Now, the tech giant is gearing up for its next big move: digital passports. This fall, with the release of iOS 26, Apple will allow users to scan their U.S. passport into the Wallet app for use during domestic travel. It won't replace your physical passport for international trips, but it could speed up identity checks within the US, especially at airports. How to prepare your digital passport: Apple recommends scanning in bright, even lighting against a light-neutral background. Make sure to remove any accessories, like sunglasses, hats, or masks, that may block your face. Hold your phone steady, and ensure the photo is clear and sharp. After scanning, confirm your identity with Face ID or Touch ID, which links the biometric data directly to your digital ID. 'Your biometrics will be bound to the ID, so only you can use it,' Apple says. This upgrade follows Apple's earlier move to let users store their driver's license or state ID in Wallet. At the airport, once the ID is approved and active in Wallet, travelers can simply tap their iPhone or Apple Watch on the TSA reader at participating checkpoints If users upgrade to a new iPhone, they can transfer their digital ID during the setup process, no needing to rescan or reverify. Currently, Apple's digital ID is accepted at over 250 TSA checkpoints in 11 states across 27 participating airports, including locations in Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Iowa, Louisiana, Maryland, New York, Ohio, and Utah. Apple developed the system in partnership with state agencies and the TSA, with a focus on speed, privacy, and convenience. Another new feature, called 'Verify with Wallet,' will allow users to digitally prove their age, making it useful for purchases like alcohol delivery on services such as Uber Eats. Supported partners for the Verify feature currently include Uber Eats, U.S. Bank, Chime, and Turo. Despite these exciting advances, there are limits. While several other states offer mobile driver's licenses through third-party apps, only nine states are currently integrated directly into Apple Wallet.

American Airlines operations returning to normal after systemwide computer outage

American Airlines suffered a widespread outage with its flight information computer system, authorities with two affected airports told CNN. A source from one affected airport told CNN the airline had sent messages indicating problems for at least two hours with the system that handles flight bookings, check-in, ticketing and baggage tagging, along with other functions. The source said American sent communications just before 2:45 p.m. ET stating the systems were coming back online and to expect 'slight delays as they work towards normal operations.' CNN has reached out to American Airlines but has not received a response. Airport officials at Miami International Airport said they were notified about the problem just after 2 p.m. Friday. 'We have been just notified about that. We're waiting to hear if any sites have been impacted yet,' said Greg Chin, communications director at Miami International Airport. The full impacts on flights and passengers were not yet clear Friday afternoon. One passenger in Arizona told CNN he was stuck on an airplane before takeoff. 'The flight was supposed to takeoff at 10:22 (a.m. MT), the app now says 11:30 (a.m. MT), but that's just a place holder. Pilot came on and said that AA's electronic maintenance system is down and they can't input whatever work was done on the plane and then accept it so therefore we're stuck until that system comes back up,' Jason Hass said. A passenger in Charlotte who was scheduled to leave at 1 p.m., told CNN they were about to take off just before 3 p.m. The passenger, John Noona, told CNN airline officials said the 'main system' had gone down. He added he had been stuck on the ground for nearly two hours. The Federal Aviation Administration, as well as officials at airports in Chicago and Dallas, referred questions to the airline. At 2:30 p.m. ET, flight data tracker FlightAware showed 21% of American Airlines flights delayed and 2% canceled. American's wholly-owned subsidiary PSA Airlines had 27% of flights delayed and 11% were canceled Friday. This is a developing story and will be updated. CNN's Ed Lavandera, Bill Kirkos and Sarah Dewberry contributed to this report.
