DP World Egypt receives LNG vessel, iron ore shipment
DP World Egypt announced that it received a Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU), the country's largest iron ore shipment and the Aroya cruise ship this month at its Ain Sokhna Port, showcasing its ability to manage diverse vessel types while advancing Egypt's trade, energy and tourism goals. Energos Eskimo, a Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU) operated by New Fortress Energy (NFE), docked at the Sokhna facility for a series of specialised technical upgrades, including modifications to its high-pressure gas manifold in preparation for its forthcoming call at SUMED Port, where it will begin injecting natural gas into Egypt's national grid. The Port also welcomed the Berge Kuju, a 300-metre dry bulk vessel arriving from Brazil with 180,008 tonnes of iron ore destined for Ezz Steel, marking the largest iron ore shipment ever received at an Egyptian port. The delivery forms part of a long-term strategic agreement and supports more than 6 million tonnes of annual iron ore throughput at Sokhna. Sokhna Port also welcomed the Aroya cruise ship with 2,300 passengers, on its second scheduled visit under an annual agreement with Cruise Saudi. Carnival Cruise Line clarifies ban on handheld fans
Carnival Cruise Line has banned handheld fans from its onboard dance floors due to "safety reasons," according to a guideline letter issued on June 1. The new rules prohibit non-battery-powered fans in nightclubs and on indoor dance floors, while beverages are also not allowed on any dance floor. Battery-powered and electric fans are still permitted on dancefloors and on board, including in passenger cabins, as clarified by Carnival Cruise Lines' senior cruise director, John Heald. Carnival Cruise Line stated that the updated guidelines, which have been part of their standard communications for over two years, aim to support a safe and friendly environment. Other cruise lines, such as Saudi Arabia's Aroya, also have banned items, including scissors, CDs, magazines violating public decency, and alcoholic beverages.

Aroya Cruises launches Mediterranean season itineraries
Aroya Cruises has announced in a press release the launch of its inaugural Mediterranean itineraries set to begin in June 2025. Homeported in Galataport Istanbul, Aroya will sail to some of the region's most popular European cruise destinations, marking a major milestone in the cruise line's growth and regional expansion, reported SPA. The new itineraries, said the release, feature seven-night voyages to ports in Türkiye and Greece, blending iconic destinations with Aroya's Arabian inspired experience. Beginning on June 21, Aroya will sail to Bodrum, Marmaris, Kaş and Kuşadası, followed by additional stops in Athens, Mykonos and Crete later that month. In July, the itineraries expand to include Rhodes and İzmir, with Fethiye added in August. One of the new itineraries will be dedicated entirely to Turkish coastal cities, offering guests an immersive experience along the country's shoreline. The remaining sailings will blend stops in both Türkiye and Greece, with a particular emphasis on Bodrum and other iconic ports along the Turkish Riviera. Since its maiden voyage in December, Aroya Cruises has completed a successful inaugural season in the Red Sea, offering guests a remarkably Arabian experience rooted in Saudi hospitality. Aroya to host first Saudi floating franchise expo
The National Franchise Committee, in partnership with Aroya Cruises, has finalized preparations for the first-of-its-kind floating exhibition dedicated to franchising. The initiative, led by the Federation of Saudi Chambers, was formalized through an agreement signed by Dr. Khalid Al-Ghamdi, chairman of the National Franchise Committee, and Alaa Tashkandi, general sales manager at Aroya Cruises. The International Floating Franchise Exhibition will take place aboard the luxurious Aroya cruise ship from May 5-8. The announcement came during a press conference held onboard the Aroya cruise in Jeddah, attended by various media representatives. The organizing committee unveiled details of the ship's facilities that will host the expo, including halls, theaters, meeting rooms, and other logistical preparations. Dr. Al-Ghamdi said that hosting the exhibition at sea symbolizes the global potential of Saudi brands, adding that the committee is working on a strategic initiative to accelerate the international expansion of Saudi franchises. Tashkandi said that Aroya Cruises is fully equipped to host major exhibitions and commercial events, offering world-class amenities that promise an exceptional and unique experience for global attendees. The Federation of Saudi Chambers, represented by the National Franchise Committee, had previously announced plans to organize the inaugural International Floating Franchise Exhibition from May 5–8, aboard the Aroya cruise ship in Jeddah.
