Delhi braces for more rain, thunderstorms today as IMD issues yellow alert for city
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rain alert for parts of north India, including New Delhi, even as the capital received incessant rain in the early hours of Monday. New Delhi is likely to receive more rains on Monday.(Arvind Yadav/ Hindustan Times) The IMD bulletin predicted heavy rain alerts for multiple states, including Delhi, Mumbai, Dehradun, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, and warned of floods, landslides, thunderstorms, and waterlogging through July 9. The weather agency separately issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms, lightning and squalls predicted for Delhi throughout the day. However, several areas of the city reported waterlogging, affecting traffic movement during peak commuting hours. Delhi recorded 12 mm of rainfall at 8:30 am as the minimum temperature of Monday dropped to 22.9 degrees Celsius, the weather agency said. It has also forecast similar conditions to persist over the next two days, with very light to light rain expected thereafter. More rains expected The IMD on Sunday said that the monsoon trough at mean sea level passes through Suratgarh, Sirsa, Delhi, Lucknow, Varanasi, Daltonganj, Bankura, Digha and thence southeastward to the northeast Bay of Bengal, ANI reported. Other districts of Gujarat too saw an intense spell of rainfall with Banaskantha facing severe flooding and Tharad being one of the worst-affected. A red alert has also been issued for parts, including Surendranagar, Morbi, Jamnagar, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Porbandar, Rajkot, and Sabarkantha districts. Meanwhile, the Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 81 -' categorised as "satisfactory" by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

The residents of the national capital will surely welcome a respite from the heat and humidity. The neighbouring states of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Punjab are also expected to receive rainfall over the next two days. The monsoon season is intensifying in the region, and the residents would welcome rainfall, even if it means a slightly longer wait in traffic lines. Delhi air quality The air quality in Delhi and the surrounding areas remained satisfactory, another good news for the people of the national capital. The city's Air Quality Index (AQI) ranged from 90 at Siri Fort, to as low as 66 at Lodhi Road, according to figures from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), an AQI between 0 and 50 is considered 'good', 51 to 100 'satisfactory', 101 to 200 'moderate', 201 to 300 'poor', 301 to 400 'very poor', and 401 to 500 'severe'.

IMD predicts rain, thunderstorms for Delhi-NCR this evening
Delhi rain today: Delhi and the national capital region (NCR) areas are expected to witness light to moderate rainfall with light thunderstorms and lightning in the next two hours, the regional weather forecast department said. The maximum temperature in the capital is expected to settle around 34 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is likely to be at 29 degrees Celsius. The weather department's forecast is for the NCR areas of Loni Dehat, Hindon AF Station, Ghaziabad, Indirapuram, Chhapraula, Faridabad, Manesar, Ballabhgarh, Noida, Dadri, and Greater Noida. Rainfall is also likely at major places in Delhi, including Burari, Bawana, Pitampura, Lajpat Nagar, Model Town, Civil Lines, Shahadra, Vivek Vihar, Nehru Stadium, ITO, Delhi University, Kalkaji, and Rohini. The Railway Recruitment Board, RRBs, have released the dates for the NTPC Undergraduate Examinations - 2025. Candidates who have registered for the Non-Technical Popular Categories (Under Graduate) exam can check the schedule on the official websites of regional RRBs.
