Falling stone sign kills worker in Jasin

PETALING JAYA : A man was killed when a stone sign collapsed on him while he was working on a drainage channel at Jalan Kampung Gunung Asahan in Jasin, Melaka, this morning.
Jasin police chief Rusli Mat said Nazri Yazid, 50, was found unconscious after the sign fell on him.
'We received information about the incident at 11.05am from the Asahan police station.
'Medics confirmed the victim's death at the scene, and our investigations found no signs of foul play,' Bernama reported him as saying.
The body was taken to Jasin Hospital for a post-mortem. The case has been classified as sudden death.
Jasin fire and rescue department operations commander Azizul Ali said they received an emergency call at 10.50am and dispatched a team to the location.
'Upon arrival 12 minutes later, we found the victim had been extricated from the rubble by members of the public and was confirmed dead by medics.
'The body was later handed over to the police,' he said.
