Sitar recital enhances Yoga demonstration at Expert PU College
Sitar recital by Ankush N. Nayak added colours to the celebrations of International Day of Yoga at the Expert PU College at Kodialbail in the City on Saturday, June 21. Mr. Nayak, who is the Director (Information Technology) with the College recited Sitar throughout the Yoga performance guided by Yoga Guru Gopalakrishna Delampady. The Guru said when students practice Yoga every day, they could develop concentration while improving their mental and physical health. It was heartening to note that the college conducts Yoga practice daily for its students, he said. Mr. Nayak said Yoga and music considerably influence and satisfy one's mind. Mr. Delampady and his team demonstrated several Asanas while students followed them. College principal Ramachandra Bhat and others were present. Another event Counsellor Manjula Rao on Saturday urged students to leave mobile phones behind and practice Pranayama and other breathing exercises once they wake up. She was speaking after inaugurating the Yoga Day celebrations at Shakti Residential School here. Delampady Yoga Pratishthana trainers Subhadra and Veena Marla led the Yogasana demonstration session for students. Kreeda Bharathi former president Kariyappa Rai, institution advisor K. Ramesh, PU college principal Venkatesh Murthy, residential school principal Babitha Suraj and others were present.

MLA advocates yoga for holistic health
Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam South MLA Ch Vamsi Krishna Srinivas Yadav said that holistic health can be achieved by following yoga. Speaking at the Yogandhra programme organised here on Sunday under the aegis of Medcy Hospitals, MLA Vamsi Krishna Srinivas Yadav mentioned that health should become top priority over anything else in life. Briefing about the the International Yoga Day (IYD) celebrations, the MLA informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister K Pawan Kalyan and 50 dignitaries from different countries will also participate in the IYD event to be celebrated on June 21. Hospital managing director B Sireesha Rani mentioned that they have been creating awareness for the past few days to make the IYD programme a success. The MLA and hospital managing director Sireesha Rani performed Asanas. More than 200 people participated in the programme. Later, doctors who played a key role in promoting yoga were honoured with mementoes.
