Donkey Kong Bananza is already cheaper at Costco

Today is Donkey Kong Bananza launch day, and what better way to celebrate than with a discount? The Nintendo Switch 2-exclusive game is currently $62.99 ($7 off) at Costco for members. Nintendo games rarely go on sale, even after several months on shelves, so any amount off the retail price is a big win on launch day. If you were on the fence about whether to get the game, let our review assuage any concerns. It rules. The Verge's Ash Parrish describes it as a 'fantastic feast.' The game offers satisfying punching mechanics, creative level design, and the unmistakable polish that most Nintendo games possess. Whereas Mario Kart World was a pretty good launch title, Donkey Kong Bananza is the Switch 2's first must-have game. Life with the Nintendo Switch 2

The Nintendo Switch 2 is great. In many ways, it's exactly what we hoped for: a Switch, only better. And yet there's something… underwhelming about it. Maybe it's unfair, but we've come to expect Nintendo to consistently amaze us with either how its consoles work or the games you can play with them. In this case, it still feels like a Switch. Only better. And not universally better, either. On this episode of The Vergecast, now that a number of folks on our team have spent some real time with the Switch 2, it's time to talk about how we feel about this new console. First, The Verge 's Andrew Webster joins the show to talk through his review, from the controllers to the design to the game-changing games here and yet to come. Then, The Verge 's Ash Parrish tells us about her experiences traveling with the Switch 2, how her experience has compared to her first demos of the device, and the games she's been playing so far. Then we pivot a bit, and talk about the Xbox Ally X and Microsoft's own vision for handheld gaming. Finally, The Verge 's Sean Hollister helps us answer a question from the Vergecast Hotline (call 866-VERGE11 or email vergecast@ about the state of consoles. Everything in gaming seems more expensive than ever, and more expensive all the time; is it time for the console business to change? If you want to know more about everything we discuss in this episode, here are some links to get you started:

PlayStation State of Play June 2025: all the news and trailers

A busy week of gaming news continues. One day after Epic's State of Unreal showcase, and just ahead of the Nintendo Switch 2 launch (and Summer Game Fest Live and the Xbox Games Showcase) Sony is getting in on the action with its latest State of Play stream, which was surprise-announced just a day ahead of time. There aren't a lot of details of what to expect. Sony says the event will last around 40 minutes, and will feature 'news and updates on must-play games coming to PS5' and include 'a selection of great games from creators across the globe.' We do know the PS5 has some major releases incoming, including Death Stranding 2: On the Beach later this month and Ghost of Yōtei in October. Other possibly out-there rumors include remasters of Bloodborne and Final Fantasy Tactic s. Whatever ends up being shown, you can follow along with all of the important updates right here. State of Play kicks off on June 4th at 5PM ET. Today, 10 minutes ago Andrew Webster It's (almost) Sony's turn. A week of gaming news chugs on, and up next is PlayStation's latest State of Play. It kicks off at 5PM ET and is expected to last around 40 minutes. Jun 3 Ash Parrish Playstation is holding its State of Play summer showcase this week Sony has announced it will hold a summer State of Play presentation on Wednesday, June 4th, making this first week of June an all-timer for the video game industry. Not only do we have the Switch 2 launching this week, but all the video game showcases are dropping at once, because while E3 is a thing of the past, we still need an excuse to party. Summer Game Fest, affectionately (or not) known as Keigh-3, kicks off Friday, June 6th. Xbox will host its showcase on Sunday, June 8th. Epic has its State of Unreal going on right now. And now PlayStation will join the slate of summer programming with its own showcase on Twitch and YouTube starting at 5PM ET / 2PM PT.
