Man attempts suicide at court fearing jail
Davanagere: At the district and sessions court complex, a man attempted suicide by slashing his wrist, fearing potential imprisonment in Davanagere on Monday. Annappa Naik, used a blade to harm himself.
Previously, he was involved in violent confrontations with his wife's family members during a domestic dispute. His wife, Asha Bai, filed an attempted murder complaint at Badavane police station, leading to his arrest. After showing compassion, Asha Bai assisted in obtaining his bail. However, upon release, Annappa Naik attacked his wife at their home. This incident prompted his wife to file a petition in the court for the cancellation of his bail. When Asha Bai arrived at court, Annappa Naik, anxious about returning to jail, attempted to take his life by cutting his wrist with a blade. He stated that his self-inflicted injury occurred after being summoned to court with divorce threats. The incident was recorded at Badavane police station on Tuesday.
