KSRTC to Start Non-Stop Buses Between Mangaluru and Puttur

MLA of Puttur, Ashok Kumar Rai has said that the KSRTC will start new non-stop bus services between Mangaluru and Puttur to help travelers. He met KSRTC officials on June 23, 2025, at his office in Puttur. He asked them not to stop any bus service during the rainy season because students will have problems. He also told them to let him know if there are not enough buses. The new non-stop buses will run from Puttur to the State Bank area in Mangaluru. Six new buses will start this service. These buses will not stop anywhere on the way. Now, buses stop many times, which makes travel slow for some people. The new buses will help travelers reach Mangaluru in about one hour. The buses will be new and comfortable. MLA Rai said KSRTC has hired 326 new drivers and helpers for the Puttur division. He asked for 500 staff in total, and more workers will come soon. With enough buses and new workers, KSRTC can run more bus services on all routes. The new workers will stay in Puttur for at least five years. He also said KSRTC will start air-conditioned buses called Ambari Utsav from Mangaluru to Bengaluru. These buses will pass through Vitla, Puttur, and Uppinangady. Many people want this new service. The government will start buses where there is demand. KSRTC leaders like Divisional Controller Amalingaiah Hosa Poojary and Divisional Traffic Manager Jaishanth Kumar attended the meeting.

KSRTC to operate non-stop services between Mangaluru and Puttur: MLA

Puttur MLA Ashok Kumar Rai has said that Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will commence non-stop services between district headquarters Mangaluru and Puttur for the benefit of commuters. He was speaking at a meeting with KSRTC officials to assess deficiency of bus services in the constituency, at the MLA's office in Putur on June 23. He told the officials not to discontinue any service during the monsoon as such a move would affect students. He told them to inform him if there is a shortage of buses. The non-stop service from Puttur to State Bank terminal in Mangaluru would start with six buses. The services would not stop at places en-route and end trips at the respective destinations. At present, express services halt at important stops en-route, which inconveniences point-to-point travellers. Following requests by such passengers, the non-stop services were being introduced, he said. One could reach the destination within an hour. Brand new coaches would be pressed into service, he added. Crew posted at Puttur The MLA further said the corporation has posted 326 drivers-cum-conductors to Puttur division of KSRTC following the recently concluded recruitment drive. He had demanded posting of at least 500 crew, and the balance crew would be posted subsequently, he said. As there is no shortage of buses, posting of new crew should help the corporation operate more services on all identified routes. The corporation has stipulated that the newly-recruited crew should work in Puttur division for at least five years, Mr. Rai said. The MLA said the corporation would start Ambari Utsav air-conditioned bus services from Mangaluru to Bengaluru via Vitla, Puttur and Uppinangady following demand from residents in and around Vitla. The government and the corporation would not hesitate to operate services wherever there is demand. Divisional Controller Amalingaiah Hosa Poojary, Divisional Traffic Manager Jaishanth Kumar and others were present at the meeting.

Govt proposes gym centres at three locations in Puttur

Mangaluru: Puttur MLA Ashok Kumar Rai said that govt gym centres will be established in three locations within the Puttur Assembly constituency. MLA Rai mentioned that he requested the govt to establish these gym centres, and a meeting was also held with the secretary of the department of youth empowerment and sports to seek the release of funds for this purpose. "People, including youth organisations, have made numerous requests to start gym centres in rural areas. During discussions a few months ago, the minister of youth empowerment and sports agreed to this. Proposals for three gym centres submitted by me have reached the commissioner for the department of youth empowerment and sports. Recently, I held a meeting with the commissioner to discuss these demands comprehensively," the MLA said. Currently, there is only a gym centre in Puttur city, making it difficult for rural youth to reach the gym on time. If gym centres are established in rural areas, the youth will utilise them. These centres will be set up in three selected locations within the constituency, he said. For levelling the taluk sports ground to be constructed in Munduru village in Puttur, Rs 8 crore grant is required.
