Smart and invisible policing helping police prevent crimes, says A.P. Home Minister
Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha said that 'smart and invisible policing' are helping the police to prevent crimes and provide more security to the public in the State during the launch of 'Suraksha 360' aimed at providing CCTV surveillance for the entire NTR Police Commissionerate, on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that mobile phones can be used as weapons for protection, and urged women to use 'Sakthi App' for their safety. 'There is no scope for crimes in Andhra Pradesh. Government is taking all steps to prevent crime. Drones and CCTV are being used to check anti-social elements, particularly in VIP zones,' Ms. Anitha said. Vijayawada MP Kesineni Shivanath praised the NTR Commissionerate Police for launching Suraksha 360 which will help to check crimes in Amaravati region. The MP also had words of appreciation for MLA Sujana Chowdary, who installed ₹30 lakh worth of CCTVs in Vijayawada West Constituency. District Collector G. Lakshmisha said that NTR district will become a role model for taking initiatives that help create a peaceful atmosphere. He thanked the donors who helped to install CCTVs in the district. Mr. Sujana Chowdary, meanwhile, thanked the police for solving traffic problems at all major junctions by using 'Astram App'. He directed the police to take measures to provide safety at all schools and colleges. Police Commissioner S.V. Rajasekhar Babu said that CCTVs helped the police to detect crimes. Police have planned to install four surveillance cameras in each village. Steps are in place to enhance security at all temples, churches and masjids in the Commissionerate, he said. Later, the Home Minister, MP, MLA and other officers felicitated the donors of the CCTVs. MLAs Bonda Umamaheswara Rao, Gadde Rammohan Rao, Sriram Rajagopal and Kotikalapudi Srinivas and other police officers participated.

Drones, CCTVs help police to monitor crowd during yoga day, says DGP
About 3,000 CCTV cameras and drones were pressed into service to monitor the crowd during the International Yoga Day, which was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in Visakhapatnam on June 21, said Director General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta. Besides the 10,000 police personnel from APSP, civil and NSG forces were deployed, and the Astram App was enabled to prevent traffic congestion and to manage parking at various places, the DGP said in a release on Sunday. With meticulous planning and by leveraging technology the Andhra Pradesh police set a record in crowd and event management, he added. The mega yoga event was conducted incident-free owing to the micro-level planning of the police, the DGP said and praised the officers for the success of the event.
