Three held with drugs of more than Rs 22 lakh in Thane
Thane, Jul 21 (PTI) Police have arrested three persons after seizing drugs valued at more than Rs 22 lakh following two raids in Maharashtra's Thane district, officials said on Monday. Acting on a tip-off, the police raided a room near the Valdhuni river under Khadakpada police station area in Kalyan on July 17 and seized 1.12 kilograms of ganja (cannabis) valued at Rs 25,000, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-III, Kalyan) Atul Zende said in a release. A man, identified as Ravi Shivaji Gavli (30), resident of Anupam Nagar, who was found in possession of the narcotic substance was immediately taken into custody, the official said. On July 18, the police carried out another raid at a location behind the APMC Market Road in Kalyan where two individuals were allegedly attempting to sell banned narcotic substances. 'During the raid, our team seized 110 grams of MD (mephedrone), a synthetic drug, from the possession of the accused. The market value of the seized drug is estimated at Rs 22 lakh," Zende said. The police arrested the two accused, identified as Mohammad Kaif Mansur Shaikh (24), resident of Kalyan, and Fardin Asif Sheikh (24), from Kongaon in Bhiwandi, the official said. 'We are now conducting further investigations to trace the supply chain – from where the drugs were procured and to whom they were being sold," the official said. Maharashtra: Foreign woman held in Dombivli drug bust; MD drugs worth over Rs 2 crore seized in Nilje
THANE: The police once again busted a drug racket in the upscale Nilje area of Dombivli, arresting a foreign national woman for selling drugs. The arrested woman is a resident of Ivory Coast, and the police recovered MD drugs worth more than Rs 2 crore from her. Esha Bakayoka has been living in Ulve, Navi Mumbai for some time. Police recently busted another big drug racket in the same Nilje area of Dombivli, arresting four people, including three call centre workers, one of whom was a woman. Drugs worth more than Rs 2 crore were recovered from them as well. The police said that in the new case, on Monday, they received information that a drug peddler was coming to Nilje to sell drugs. Zone 3 DCP Atul Zende stated that after receiving the information, Senior Police Inspector Sandipan Shinde of Manpada Police Station deployed a team. They caught a woman roaming suspiciously near a pond in Nilje and, upon questioning, recovered 1.51 kg of MD drugs from her, worth Rs 2 crore 12 lakh in the international market. In the drug racket case caught in the same area this week, Manpada Police also seized the motorcycle used in the crime from the main accused, Farhan Sheikh, who was trying to flee abroad from Hyderabad Airport. 2.1cr drugs seized from Dombivli flat, 3 youths held
Kalyan: Manpada police have seized 2kg of mephedrone (MD) worth Rs 2.1 crore from a flat in a Dombivli township and arrested three youths. Police said that all three are Mumbra residents who work in a call centre in Navi Mumbai and that they had taken the flat on rent specifically to peddle drugs. They suspect that more people are involved in the case and three investigation teams have been formed. Atul Zende, DCP (zone 3), said police raided a building in a housing society in the township based on a tipoff and found a large quantity of MD in one of the flats, along with a 21-year-old woman. The woman was taken into custody. "Before the raid, two of her accomplices fled. Police arrested them too within a few hours."
