Watch Live: San Antonio officials to give update on plans to support peaceful protests amid ICE raids

As protests continue in Los Angeles and around the U.S. over immigration enforcement raids, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said he will deploy the state's National Guard as needed "to ensure peace & order." On Tuesday night, Abbott issued a response to another post on his X account saying he is sending the Texas National Guard to San Antonio ahead of planned protests. The governor's press secretary didn't confirm that San Antonio is where he is sending troops, but that they will be prepared as needed. Possible immigration protests in San Antonio San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg, City Manager Erik Walsh and San Antonio Police Chief William McManus will hold a press conference Wednesday morning to share the city's plan to support peaceful demonstrations while ensuring public safety. "The State of Texas stands ready to deploy all necessary personnel and resources to uphold law and order across our state," Abbott's press secretary said. "Texas National Guard soldiers are on standby in areas where mass demonstrations are planned in case they are needed. Peaceful protests are part of the fabric of our nation, but Texas will not tolerate the lawlessness we have seen in Los Angeles. Anyone engaging in acts of violence or damaging property will be swiftly held accountable to the full extent of the law." On Monday, hundreds of demonstrators took to Austin in protest of the ICE raids. This left four Austin police officers injured and a total of 12 people arrested. In Dallas, a protest that drew hundreds to a rally on a city bridge lasted for several hours Monday night before police declared it an "unlawful assembly" and warned people to leave or face possible arrest. "[The Texas National Guard] will use every tool & strategy to help law enforcement maintain order," Abbott said. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott deploys National Guard across state ahead of anti-ICE protests

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has deployed National Guard troops across the state ahead of more anti-ICE protests. Abbott announced the move early Wednesday in a post on X as protests sprang up in parts of Texas and across the U.S. this week. "Texas National Guard will be deployed to locations across the state to ensure peace & order," Abbott wrote in the post. "Peaceful protest is legal. Harming a person or property is illegal & will lead to arrest. @TexasGuard will use every tool & strategy to help law enforcement maintain order." It was unclear where exactly Abbott was deploying the National Guard. Fox News Digital reached out to the governor's office for more details but did not immediately hear back. San Antonio Police Department Assistant Chief Jesse Salame told WOAI-TV that Chief William McManus confirmed the deployment of National Guard troops to the city, though he added that "we don't have any additional details about their deployment." Major demonstrations popped up in cities across Texas this week on the heels of violent riots in Los Angeles to protest federal immigration raids. In Austin, four police officers were injured trying to disperse a crowd of several hundred demonstrators that moved between the state Capitol and a federal building that houses an ICE office on Monday night. Austin police used pepper spray balls and state police used tear gas when demonstrators began trying to deface the federal building with spray paint. Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis said three officers were injured when individuals began hurling "very large" rocks, while a fourth suffered a shoulder injury during an arrest. "We support peaceful protest," Davis said. "When that protest turns violent, when it turns to throwing rocks and bottles ... that will not be tolerated. Arrests will be made." Austin police arrested eight people, and state police arrested five more. In Dallas, hundreds of protesters gathered near the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge on Monday night. The situation was tense at times, with people throwing water bottles, fireworks and rocks at police officers, FOX4 Dallas reported. No officers were injured during the protest. Police arrested one individual, identified as 27-year-old Gerardo Velasquez Jr., who was charged with assault of a peace officer and attempt to take a weapon from an officer. More protests were planned in Dallas and Austin for Saturday, while a demonstration was planned in San Antonio for Wednesday evening.

Over 3 dozen bodies found in, around Lady Bird Lake since 2022: data

The Brief Another body has been found in Lady Bird Lake, potentially that of a teenage paddleboarder Over three dozen bodies have been found in and around the lake since 2022, data show AUSTIN, Texas - Another body has been found at Lady Bird Lake. What we know The body was found around 7 a.m. by a paddleboarder near Riverside Drive and South Lamar. Police say that a person called 911 to report that they saw the body near the Butler Hike and Bike Trail. While there is currently no positive identification, Austin police believe the body is likely that of a teenage boy who went missing on Sunday. A preliminary investigation into his disappearance shows that the teenager was with his family on kayaks and paddleboards in the lake. The teen got out of his kayak to stand in shallow water; however, investigators say that he was not wearing a life jacket and had unknowingly been standing near an underwater shelf. Underwater shelves are a sudden drop-off in the lake, and the teen either stepped or slipped off and did not resurface. His kayak was later recovered with his life jacket and backpack still on it. The body found in the lake was wearing the same clothes and looked to be the same demographic as the missing teen, but identification is still pending, says APD. What they're saying "Another paddleboarder was here out on Lady Bird Lake and notified us that it appeared that an individual was deceased and floating on Lady Bird Lake," said Corporal Jose Mendez of the Austin Police Department.
