See If Your Ford or Lincoln Is Among 850K in a Fuel Pump Recall

Ford is recalling 850,318 vehicles with an issue that could cause a low-pressure fuel pump failure, resulting in the engine stalling while driving. The recall population includes certain 2021–23 Ford Bronco, Explorer and Lincoln Aviator SUVs and Ford F-250, F-350, and F-450, and F-550 SD trucks, and 2021–22 Lincoln Navigator, Ford F-150, and Mustang vehicles. Ford is still working on a remedy for the recall issue and will notify owners when a solution is found. Ford has recalled 850,318 vehicles due to a potential issue that can cause the low-pressure fuel pump to fail, resulting in the engine stalling while driving. The automaker said it is not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries related to the recall. Ford According to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recall population includes some 2021–23 Ford Bronco, Explorer and Lincoln Aviator SUVs and Ford F-250, F-350, and F-450, and F-550 SD trucks, and 2021–22 Lincoln Navigator, Ford F-150, and Mustang vehicles. Of the total recall population, Ford estimates 10 percent may be affected by the issue. The issue, according to the recall documents, is twofold. One issue stems from contamination of the jet pump in low-fuel situations, which can lead to loss of fuel pressure and flow from the low-pressure fuel pump. The other stems from reduced fuel pump internal clearances, which can increase internal friction and sensitivity to vapor lock. Without proper pressure, the flow and fuel delivery to the engine can be starved, leading the engine to stall while driving. Ford Customers may become aware of the fuel pump issue through poor engine performance, including misfiring or running rough. The check engine light may also illuminate. Recall documents show that fuel pump failure is more likely to occur in low-fuel or warm-weather situations. Ford is still working on a remedy for the recall issue. Initial owner notification letters will be mailed on July 14, with secondary letters planned for when a remedy is available. Owners can check the NHTSA recalls site to see if their vehicle is part of the recall population. There's a Reason Why Subaru WRX Sales Are Way Down

People aren't buying the Subaru WRX, or so it would seem. Through June of this year, the company has only sold 6,431 examples of its iconic sports sedan, marking a 30.8 percent decrease from last year. In June, only 350 of them made their way to buyers—a significant 74 percent drop compared to last year. But it's not just that people aren't interested in the new WRX (although the numbers would indicate that many buyers are shying away from the latest generation). According to Subaru, in a statement to CarBuzz , WRX sales are down largely due to production shifts at the automaker's Gunma Prefecture manufacturing facility in Japan. Photo by: Subaru According to a spokesperson, Subaru has reduced WRX production to meet the demand of the Forester and Forester Hybrid models. The Forester is Subaru's best-selling vehicle of 2025 so far, with 95,972 units moved. The recent arrival of the Forester Hybrid means that even more customers will be eager to get their hands on the brand's compact SUV. Subaru also cites "very low inventory levels" for WRX. The company notes that "there are fewer than 500 units of WRX on the ground at the moment." The silver lining for the WRX is that Subaru will soon shift production of the Forester to its Lafayette, Indiana, manufacturing facility alongside other SUVs like the Ascent, Crosstrek, and Outback. That could, in theory, make room for higher WRX production numbers in Japan. Photo by: Subaru These sales figures from June only compound the WRX's struggles in 2025. In May, sales were down a whopping 71.2 percent, with just 482 examples rolling off dealer lots. That marks a 23.6 percent year-over-year. Subaru as a whole has seen its sales decrease slightly in 2025, with the entire brand down 10.4 percent in May, and down still by 0.2 percent in June. That said, the Crosstrek, Forester, and even the BRZ sports car are all on pace for sales increases in 2025. The Latest From Subaru We're Not Getting Another WRX STI. Musk Confidant Afshar Exits Tesla in Latest High-Level Departure

(Bloomberg) — Omead Afshar, a powerful executive at Tesla Inc. (TSLA) and one of Elon Musk's closest confidants, has left the company, according to people familiar with the matter, the latest high-level departure during a volatile period for the electric vehicle maker. News of the exit has circulated internally among some employees in recent days, said the people, who asked not to be identified discussing internal information. Afshar's name no longer appeared to show up in an internal directory, two of the people said. The reason for the change wasn't immediately clear. Afshar, Musk and Tesla didn't immediately respond to requests for comment. Afshar, who has worked in the office of the CEO, was promoted last year to oversee sales and manufacturing operations in North America and Europe. Those markets have become particular pain points for the automaker recently, with sales plunging due to rising competition and a consumer backlash to Musk's role in US President Donald Trump's administration. This marks at least the second departure of a prominent Tesla leader in recent weeks. Milan Kovac, the head of engineering for the company's Optimus humanoid robot program, stepped down citing a desire to spend more time with his family. The personnel changes punctuate a tumultuous year for Tesla, whose shares have tumbled about 19% while demand has waned for its EV models and Musk has spent time in Washington. The chief executive officer is trying to reorient the company around artificial intelligence, robots and driverless cars, recently rolling out a small number of Tesla's long-promised robotaxis in Austin. Tesla is expected to report global delivery results for the second quarter next week. Tesla Tenure Afshar joined Tesla in 2017, as the carmaker was beginning to ramp up production of the Model 3 sedan. 'I was with Elon nearly every single day during Model 3 hell,' he says in a post on X, the social media platform that Musk owns. 'This included Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Eve, his birthday and nearly missing his brother's wedding.' Afshar was posting regularly on social media in recent days, including several messages this week praising the robotaxi launch. The executive oversaw the construction of Tesla's plant in Austin. A member of the office of the CEO since 2017, his most recent job title was listed on his LinkedIn page as a cowboy hat emoji. He came under internal scrutiny in 2022 for his role in purchasing hard-to-get construction materials, including a special kind of glass, Bloomberg reported. It's not unusual for executives to shuffle from one part of Musk's empire to another, and Afshar worked at SpaceX for a time. Tesla has just three named executive officers: Musk, Chief Financial Officer Vaibhav Taneja and Tom Zhu, senior vice president of automotive. —With assistance from Kara Carlson and Craig Trudell. ©2025 Bloomberg L.P.

Kering bets on Renault boss Luca de Meo to revive Gucci

Francois-Henri Pinault, the billionaire heir who has headed up the French fashion house Kering Group for the past 20 years, has picked the CEO of automaker Renault to be his successor. The stock market's reaction? That's gucci. Shares of Kering jumped Monday after reports trickled out beginning Sunday that Kering planned to tap Luca de Meo as its new CEO. The stock closed 13.5% higher. The Paris-based company confirmed the news in a statement on Monday, indicating that de Meo will take the helm of the struggling fashion house as it 'enters a new phase of development.' Pinault will stay on as chairman of the board of directors after de Meo takes the helm in September. Pinault said in the statement that he first met de Meo a couple years ago when he 'launched a reflection on the evolution' of the company's governance. 'His experience at the helm of an international listed group, his sharp understanding of brands, and his sense of a strong and respectful corporate culture convinced me that he is the leader I was looking for to bring a new vision and steer this chapter in our Group's history.' The big jump in Kering shares suggests investors are at least hopeful about Kering's future, and Bernstein analysts noted that brand management and marketing are de Meo's forte, as reported by CNBC. Kering shares have fallen more than 72% in the past four years as the company has struggled to convince customers—and investors—of its appeal. Gucci's Struggles Much of Kering's problem rests with Gucci, the group's biggest brand by far, accounting for 44% of revenue in 2024. Gucci has been dragging down the rest of the company: In the first quarter, Gucci's sales fell 25%, while Kering's fell 14%. Gucci has fallen out of fashion among consumers, and particularly in China and the broader Asia-Pacific region. The brand closed two stores in Shanghai earlier this year, while other brands have gained traction among consumers there—and elsewhere. Attempts to breathe some new life into the brand—such as the March announcement of Demna as Gucci's new creative director following a decade-long stint at Balenciaga—didn't assuage investors. And consumers looking for a handbag that's nostalgic to Gucci's golden years might find a more attractive option with an independent collection of handbags by Alexandra Gucci Zarini, an heir to the Gucci family, While de Meo had a successful tenure at Renault—during which time the stock jumped nearly 90%—he faces a difficult road in his new role. 'De Meo has a titanic challenge ahead of him,' Luca Solca, analyst at Bernstein, told The Wall Street Journal.
