"Our Fight Is Only Against Imposition Of Hindi In Primary Education": Sanjay Raut
Mumbai: Amid an ongoing political row over the alleged "imposition" of Hindi in Maharashtra's primary education, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut clarified that their party is not against the Hindi language, but opposes making it mandatory in primary schooling. Addressing a press conference on Sunday,Sanjay Raut said, "The Southern states have been fighting for this issue for years. Their stand against the imposition of Hindi means they will not speak Hindi and neither let anyone speak Hindi. But that is not our stand in Maharashtra. We speak Hindi... Our stand is that the strictness for Hindi in primary schools will not be tolerated. Our fight is limited to this..." "MK Stalin has congratulated us on this win of ours and said that he will learn from this. We wish him the best. But we haven't stopped anyone from speaking in Hindi because we have Hindi movies, Hindi theatre, and Hindi music here... Our fight is only against imposition of Hindi in primary education...," the UBT leader added. When asked about the reunion of Thackeray cousins (Uddhav and Raj Thackeray), Raut said, "Yes, the two brothers have come together for politics, but what have they come together for?..." On July 5, Shiv Sena (UBT) and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) held a joint rally called 'Awaaz Marathicha' at Worli Dome in Mumbai. The event marked the first time in nearly twenty years that Uddhav and Raj Thackeray shared the stage. The rally came after the Maharashtra government scrapped two Government Resolutions (GRs) that aimed to introduce Hindi as a third compulsory language. The now-withdrawn orders, related to the implementation of the three-language formula in state schools, had triggered widespread protests from Shiv Sena (UBT), MNS, and the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction). Following the rally, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde criticised Uddhav Thackeray for allegedly using the occasion for political gain rather than addressing the concerns of the Marathi-speaking population. "There was a clear expectation that Uddhav Thackeray would apologise to the Marathi people for accepting the report mandating compulsory Hindi from Class 1 to 12. Instead, he turned the stage into a political battleground. He raised no relevant issue concerning the Marathi Manoos. Self-interest and the hunger for power were the only visible agendas," Shinde said.

'Different religions, languages, problems will continue to rise': Ashok Gehlot amid language row in Maharashtra
Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], July 6 (ANI): Days after the Maharashtra government scrapped two Government Resolutions (GRs) that aimed to introduce Hindi as a third compulsory language, former Rajasthan Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot noted that some problems will continue to rise in a vast country like India having people of different religions and languages and solutions will continue to emerge. The veteran Congress leader hoped that the solutions would come along the way and downplayed the row as 'not a big deal' 'Such controversies persist because India is such a vast country. So, some problem or another will continue to rise in the country, and its solutions will continue to emerge. In such a vast country, there are people of different religions, castes, and languages; everyone has their own agendas, including political and social ones. I believe that having such discussions is not a big deal. Everything will be fine,' Gehlot told reporters while pointing out the challenges of India's diversity. Earlier today, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut clarified that their party is not against the Hindi language but opposes making it mandatory in primary schooling. Not against Hindi, just its imposition: Uddhav Sena clarifies, distances from Stalin's stand
A day after estranged cousins Uddhav and Raj Thackeray came together to celebrate their victory over the Maharashtra government's rollback of Hindi as a third language from Classes I to V, the Uddhav Sena on Sunday sought to downplay Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin's support, clarifying that their opposition is strictly limited to the imposition of Hindi in primary schools. Referring to the Mumbai rally led by Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray, Stalin had said, "The language struggle waged by the DMK and the people of Tamil Nadu has now crossed borders and sparked similar protests in Maharashtra." He also accused the BJP-led Centre of using education funding as a pressure tactic. "The BJP, which disregards the law, threatens to allocate funds only if Tamil Nadu schools agree to teach Hindi as the third language," Stalin alleged. The rally in Mumbai, titled 'Awaaz Marathicha,' marked a rare reunion of cousins Uddhav and Raj Thackeray on the same stage after nearly two decades. The protest came in the wake of the Maharashtra government's decision to withdraw two Government Resolutions that had made Hindi a compulsory third language in primary schools. The rollback followed strong opposition from the Shiv Sena (UBT), MNS, and the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction).

We have witnessed a historic moment: Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi lauds 'Awaaz Marathicha' joint rally
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], July 5 (ANI): Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi on Saturday expressed happiness over the 'Awaaz Marathicha' joint rally held by Shiv Sena (UBT) and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and stated that she 'witnessed a historic' moment. Priyanka Chaturvedi said that both Uddhav and Raj Thackeray have come together after 20 years, and this was evident from the excitement of the people. 'We have witnessed a historic moment. As Raj Thackeray said, what Balasaheb couldn't do, Devendra Fadnavis has done. This shows that they will stay united. Both of them have come together after 20 years. The excitement of people shows that they wanted both of them to come together', Priyanka Chaturvedi told ANI. Shiv Sena (UBT) Chief Uddhav Thackeray and MNS chief Raj Thackeray shared a hug at the Worli Dome in Mumbai as they held a joint rally after the Maharashtra government scrapped two Government Resolutions (GRs) to introduce Hindi as the third language. The Thackeray brothers garlanded the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at a joint rally of their parties, the Shiv Sena (UBT) and the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), at the Worli Dome in Mumbai. While addressing the 'Awaz Marathicha' joint rally in Mumbai, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray said that he has come to 'stay together' with his brother Raj Thackeray. The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and Shiv Sena (UBT) are holding a joint rally in Mumbai to oppose the alleged imposition of the Hindi language over Maharashtra by the state government. 'We have come together to stay together', Uddhav Thackeray said while addressing the gathering. The former Maharashtra CM stated that ever since the announcement of this program, everyone was 'eagerly' waiting for his and Raj Thackeray's speech. He hailed Raj Thackeray's vocal skills and stated that he has always delivered an 'outstanding' speech, so there is no need for him to speak. 'Since we announced this program, everyone was eagerly waiting for our speech today, but in my view, we are both coming together, and this stage was more important than our speeches. Raj has already given a very outstanding speech, and I think there is no need for me to speak now', Uddhav Thackeray said. Hitting out at the Centre and Maharashtra government, Uddhav Thackeray questioned what the government had done in its 11-year tenure for Maharashtra and Mumbai, while referring to the fact that he had been asked what the Shiv Sena (UBT) had done for Mumbai while in the BMC. Uddhav alleged that the Centre has pushed Mumbai's important establishments to Gujarat, and these are all attempts to break the 'backbone' of Maharashtra. 'They always ask us what we did for the Marathi people in Mumbai during our rule in BMC. They all forced Marathi people to go out of Mumbai, but now we are asking a question: in the last 11 years of your rule, what have you done? You have pushed away Mumbai's important establishments to Gujarat. Businesses are being transferred to Gujarat. Big offices are going to Gujarat. The diamond business has already shifted to Gujarat, so you have made all attempts to break the backbone of Maharashtra and continue to do that, and you are asking questions to us', Uddhav Thackeray said. Earlier, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray launched a veiled attack on Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and said that the Chief Minister did what could not be possible for Balasaheb Thackeray, as he brought the two estranged brothers of the Thackeray family together. Addressing the gathering, Raj Thackeray said, 'I had said in one of my interviews that my Maharashtra is bigger than any politics and fight. Today, after 20 years, Uddhav and I have come together. What Balasaheb could not do, Devendra Fadnavis did it... The work of bringing both of us together.' (ANI)
