Suniel Shetty shares a good bond with Salman Khan and Jackie Shroff . In a recent interview, he talked about his friendships in the film industry that have endured over time. Shetty also addressed the incident when he gifted Salman an expensive shirt, as the latter couldn't afford it at that time. He even opened up about Jackie revealing the 'Awara Paagal Deewana' actor offered his house when the former's father was ill. Suniel Shetty on friendship with Salman Khan and Jackie Shroff In an interview with Pinkvilla, Suniel Shetty recalled how special it was when Jackie Shroff and Salman Khan visited his clothing store back in the day. At the time, both were already established stars, and their presence alone felt like a big deal to him. He said their visit acted as indirect publicity for his business. Reflecting on his bond with the two, Shetty shared that while Jackie has always been his hero, Salman is a close friend. Shetty expressed that Khan and Shroff talking about such incidents is because they are humble. He said, "That just shows the bond we share.' He went on to say that even in the current times, Jackie Shroff is just one "phone call away." Suniel further stated that if he asks Salman to include him in a movie, the latter won't even question it. He said, "Not because I helped them back then, but because that's the kind of respect and brotherhood we have always had." When Salman and Jackie talked about how Suniel helped them In an episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati in 2021, Suniel and Jackie were guests. At that time, Jackie told host Amitabh Bachchan that his father's skin was peeling off due to a penicillin reaction. At that time, Suniel offered his house, not even thinking twice. Shroff shared, "He vacated it for us. I stayed there with my father for 10–15 days. That's the kind of man he is." Exclusive: Johny Lever on consciously cutting down on work; here's what he says
Johny Lever Veteran comedian Johny Lever, who has entertained audiences for over four decades, has consciously cut down on work in recent years. The reason, he says, is simple - the lack of strong, inspiring roles. He adds, 'When someone approaches me with a project, I try to see how I can take it a notch higher with my inputs. If the role is not interesting, why would I ruin my name by taking up mediocre work?' 'Comedy pe zyada kaam nahi ho raha hai' Last seen in Housefull 5, Lever observes that comedy is no longer being explored as actively in films. 'Comedy ko kum kar diya hai, uss pe zyada kaam nahi ho raha hai. Comedy has become tough now. People are watching so much comedy in form of reels, toh aur zyada innovative comedy laaye kahan se? Also, we lack good comedy writers. Usually, we improvise and enhance a scene. Legends like Mehmood saab and Kishore Kumar saab would add their own inputs to the script. Hum bhi kar sakte hai par kuch likha toh ho. Kuch dhaancha ho toh uske upar kuch sajayenge na. Dhaancha hi nahi hai toh kya karenge? For now, there's only action in abundance in movies.' 'We used to observe people & imbibe their body language' Lever also feels there are very few actors today who are keen on doing comedy or who can pull it off well. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Up to 70% off | Shop Sale Libas Undo He says, 'The thing is, today everybody is trained in a film school. But the theoretical knowledge doesn't work on set. When you are on a set, you have to follow the cues of the team members. We used to observe people and imbibe their body language for our characters. Character ko andar se jeete the. Pagalon ki tarah kaam karte the. ' 'Comedy mera shauk tha aur phir mera profession ban gaya' One of the reasons he supported daughter Jamie Lever's decision to step into comedy is that he didn't receive that kind of support from his own father. 'Whenever I used to go on stage, my dad used to come to hit me. Once, I was performing at the Shanmukhananda Hall in Mumbai, and he came with a rubber pipe and began chasing me. The audience thought it was part of the act and started laughing and clapping,' he says. On a nostalgic note, he says, 'One day, I shot an ad and was paid Rs 25,000. It was equivalent to dad's provident fund, which he received after 25 years of service. That is when he realised, 'Mera beta kuch kar raha hai.' He would be surprised to see people clap and laugh while watching me perform. It opened his eyes. Comedy mera shauk tha aur phir woh mera profession ban gaya.' 'Comedy is in Jamie's blood' Lever, known for his roles in Baazigar, Koi… Mil Gaya, Awara Paagal Deewana and Golmaal Again, beams with pride when speaking about his daughter Jamie, who has carved a niche in the comedy space. 'See, that's in her blood. Initially, she didn't plan to pursue comedy as a career. She was studying in London. One day she visited a café with her friends where a live stand-up performance was on and she suddenly told her friends, 'Yeh barabar nahi kar raha. He is missing all the punches.' She pointed out where the comedian could have added the punches. Then she called her mom up and said she aspires to do stand-up. Pehle mujhe gussa aa gaya, because I've been through struggles, and I was worried that my daughter would also have to go through that,' he says.

23 years of Awara Paagal Deewana: 5 Bollywood comedies that bring the same madness
Awara Paagal Deewana gained a cult following upon its June 2002 release, thanks to its brand of frantic comedy, sleek action, and eccentric characters. Famous for its Hollywood-inspired stunts, over-the-top comedy, and a plot that wove between diamonds, dons, and double-crosses, the film was directed by Vikram Bhatt and featured a strong ensemble of Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Aftab Shivdasani, and Johnny Lever. On the film's 23rd anniversary, we take a look at other Bollywood films that manage to convey the same sense of comedic chaos by skilfully combining elements of slapstick, crime, and bewilderment. Awara Paagal Deewana poster Laugh out loud with Chal Mere Bhai, Anari No. 1, and Haseena Maan Jayegi—stream these classic Bollywood comedies now on OTTplay Premium. Another multi-hero ensemble film starring Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, and Suniel Shetty, Deewane Huye Paagal by Vikram Bhatt is an energy-filled spiritual sequel. Similar to Awara Paagal Deewana in many ways, this film is rife with ridiculous misunderstandings, cartoonish antagonists, and hilarious set pieces as its protagonists (Rimi Sen) pursue each other while pretending to be someone else. Apna Sapna Money Money The wild energy is still there, but the action is disguised humour in the Sangeeth Sivan film. Starring as a con artist who pulls off a heist while posing as a woman, Riteish Deshmukh leads the cast. The film recalls the carefree spirit of Awara Paagal Deewana with its protagonists' continual betrayal of one another and the mayhem that breaks out in every scene. Bhagam Bhag A murder mystery involving criminals and a missing woman is thrown into the mix in this Priyadarshan thriller set in London, which stars a theatrical ensemble. In this wild farce that combines humour and a whodunit, Akshay Kumar, Govinda, and Paresh Rawal get together. It takes a page out of Awara Paagal Deewana by thriving on ambiguity, unsteady corpses, and trouble-prone individuals. Khatta Meetha Although it's a little more serious, Priyadarshan's Khatta Meetha is nevertheless full of humour and social commentary. The film stars Akshay Kumar as a comically inept small-time contractor fighting entrenched corruption. The tone of the film dances precariously between satire and seriousness, similar to how Awara Paagal Deewana combined crime, comedy, and action. Kanjoos Makhichoos The more contemporary work in this kind, Kanjoos Makhichoos by Vipul Mehta, features Kunal Kemmu in the role of a miserly man who, following a family tragedy, must deal with bureaucratic red tape. Similar to Awara Paagal Deewana (but quieter and less action-packed), it features severe middle-class anarchy, situational comedy, and exaggerated characters. Even though the movie came out 23 years ago, Bollywood's fondness for ensemble storytelling, comedic setups, and chaotic plots is a clear reflection of the Awara Paagal Deewana impact on the comic-action genre. These films show that sometimes the wilder the journey, the more enjoyable it is.

Meet actress, who Rekha once slapped on set, cried, unable to recover, left acting, now living a...
She walked into Bollywood with stars in her eyes — and legends all around. Aarti Chabria made her debut in 2001's Lajja, sharing frames with the likes of Rekha, Madhuri Dixit, and Ajay Devgn. But the real drama unfolded off-camera. Rekha, in character, had to repeatedly slap Aarti in an intense sequence — something the young actress wasn't fully prepared for. The camera stopped. Aarti's tears didn't. She cried for hours, shaken and confused. It took a heartfelt conversation with Rekha and director Rajkumar Santoshi to help her regroup. Though she later featured alongside Bollywood heavyweights like Akshay Kumar (Awara Paagal Deewana), Govinda (Raja Bhaiya), and Salman Khan (Partner), her trajectory never quite took flight. Stardom stayed elusive. Slowly, quietly, she stepped away from the spotlight. But the story didn't end there. In 2019, she married Australian chartered accountant Visharad Beedassy in a low-key ceremony. Four years later, at 41, Aarti stepped into a new role — motherhood. Her son, Yuvan, became her world, and with him came a new chapter. Now, without the arc lights, Aarti Chabria has found a different kind of audience — online. As a fashion and lifestyle influencer, she blends personal moments with wellness wisdom and style tips across Instagram and YouTube. No red carpets. No box office buzz. Just a woman rewriting her narrative on her own terms. Sometimes, the real story begins after the credits roll.
