Mohit Suri says Emraan Hashmi has never interfered in the music process: 'No one can lip-sync better than him'
Director Mohit Suri has long treated music not as an accessory, but as the emotional spine of his storytelling. In a recent interview, he revealed that he never begins shooting until all songs are locked saying, 'I will not shoot a single day until I have all my songs ready. That's just something I need, especially on a film like Saiyaara.' He described music as 'screenplay', not garnish, a philosophy that shaped hits like Zeher, Kalyug, Aashiqui 2 , and Ek Villain. Working with composers like Jeet Gannguli, Mithoon, and Pritam, Suri built a sonic identity that resonated deeply with audiences. Emraan Hashmi : The face of Mohit's musical legacy Suri's creative partnership with Emraan Hashmi spans over half of his 14 films. Their bond goes beyond professional they are cousins, and Suri credits Hashmi with helping him find his cinematic rhythm, 'Emraan has never interfered in the music process. His only request is to get the song a day before so he can lip-sync it perfectly. No one can lip-sync better than him.' Said by Mohit Suri, in The Music Podcast He added that Hashmi's trust allowed him to experiment with new voices. For instance, KK was initially chosen for 'Aashiqui 2,' but Suri felt his mature tone suited Emraan better. Launching Arijit Singh instead gave the film a fresh emotional texture, Mohit Suri in the Bollywood Bubble Interview, 'KK's voice was so good for Emraan. But when I was launching a new guy like Aditya, I needed a newer voice.' Emraan Hashmi is just one hit away, and Awarapan 2 should do it for him: Mohit Suri's take on the actor's career
Director Mohit Suri expresses confidence in Emraan Hashmi's potential comeback. Suri believes Hashmi is on the verge of a major hit. He highlights the unpredictable nature of Bollywood careers. Suri suggests 'Awarapan 2' could reignite Hashmi's career. Nitin Kakkar directs the sequel. The film is expected to release in 2026. Mohit Suri has delivered hits right from his first film Zeher, he then went on to make big films like Murder 2, Aashiqui 2 , Ek Villain and Malang. Of his 14 films he made more than half of them with Emraan Hashmi . The duo were the strongest pillars of the production house established by Mukesh and Mahesh Bhatt . Mohit Suri Spills On 20 Years In Bollywood - Ahaan & Aneet, Alia Bhatt Dream Collab & More While Mohit is gearing up for his big film Saiyaara with newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda , during his conversation with ETimes he opened up about his longtime collaborator Emraan Hashmi. He hasn't had a very smooth ride at the box office over the past decade; Suri believes that the actor is just one hit away from reclaiming his spot at the top. 'I think he's just one hit away,' Mohit said. Despite becoming an iconic figure with his bold roles in the early 2000s, Emraan's journey has been a rocky one, with some films failing to live up to expectations. Yet, Suri remains steadfast in his belief that the actor has what it takes to make a strong comeback. 'Who doesn't have ups and downs here?' he added, acknowledging the unpredictable nature of Bollywood, where even the brightest stars sometimes fade into the background before being given a chance to shine again. For Suri, Awarapan 2 — a sequel to the critically acclaimed 2007 film Awarapan — could be the film to reignite Emraan's career. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Secure Your Child's Future with Strong English Fluency Planet Spark Learn More Undo 'I think Awarapan should do that for him,' Suri said, referring to the potential impact of the sequel. The original Awarapan saw Emraan in a role far removed from his usual image. The film was an emotional journey about love, loss, and redemption, and it gave the actor a chance to explore depth and vulnerability, which was a departure from his typical on-screen persona. 'What makes Awarapan so special is that if I was emotionally invested in it, he equally did,' Mohit stated. "Whatever he and Vishesh are doing with the film, I think will be spectacular. I'm sure they have the vision to make it work" he continued. But, of course, with so much at stake, I couldn't help but ask Mohit if he had ever been offered the opportunity to direct Awarapan 2. His response, though understated, revealed a sense of longing. 'I wasn't offered it,' he said with a shrug. 'I was busy with Saiyaara.' Awarpan 2 is now being directed by Nitin Kakkar and is expected to hit cinema halls in 2026.

Tara Sutaria Says Her Bollywood Journey Has Been 'Lonely And Difficult' As An Outsider
Last Updated: Tara Sutaria reveals her struggle as an outsider in Bollywood, calling her journey lonely and difficult. "I had no one to guide me or seek advice from," she shares. Tara Sutaria, who burst onto the Bollywood scene in 2019 with Student of the Year 2, has steadily carved her own niche in the industry. But her rise has not come without its fair share of challenges. In a candid new interview with The Times of India, the actor reflected on her journey, calling it 'lonely" and 'difficult," particularly because she had no insider support to fall back on. 'When I began my career in films, I didn't know a lot of people in the industry, and I was new to a lot of this whole world of filmmaking," Tara said, recalling her early days. 'It took many years to get used to a lot of things, and to understand how the industry functions and works." She admitted that navigating the landscape without connections or mentors was especially tough. 'It has also been a very difficult and a very lonely task to manoeuvre and navigate so many things because when you're not from the inside, you don't have anybody to really discuss things with, seek advice from." The actor pointed out how those with filmi backgrounds tend to have more access and industry insight from the start, something she had to figure out on her own. For someone who identifies as 'relatively reserved and introverted," this added another layer of complexity to her career journey. 'There have been so many instances in my career where I wish I could have had guidance, I wish I could have had people from the inside of the industry help me out," Tara revealed. 'In my experience, it's best to listen to your gut and intuition for your own career." Now, with a few notable projects under her belt—including Marjaavaan, Ek Villain Returns, and her recent OTT appearance in Apurva—Tara says she's more focused than ever on choosing quality over quantity. She was last seen in a music video opposite Ishaan Khatter and is gearing up for Awarapan 2, where she stars alongside Emraan Hashmi. Outside of work, Tara has also been in the headlines for her personal life. After her breakup with Aadar Jain, she is now being linked with Veer Pahariya, although neither has publicly confirmed the relationship. First Published: July 05, 2025, 18:16 IST
