Factional feud escalates in state BJP
Bengaluru: Factional politics within the Karnataka BJP is reaching new heights, with both camps taking their internal battles to the national capital. While supporters of BJP State President B.Y. Vijayendra recently visited Delhi to lodge complaints against the opposing faction, the anti-Vijayendra camp is now preparing for its own Delhi trip next week. Last week, a team led by MP Renukacharya met BJP disciplinary committee chief Om Pathak in Delhi, submitting a complaint regarding a separate rally organized in Davanagere without party approval. Now, the faction opposing Vijayendra — including MLA Ramesh Jarkiholi, former ministers Aravind Limbavali and Kumar Bangarappa — is preparing to head to Delhi. They are expected to be joined by former MP G.M. Siddeshwara and MLA B.P. Harish. Their core agenda: pressuring the party high command to replace B.Y. Vijayendra as the state BJP president. The group also plans toraise concerns under the pretext of submitting a report on alleged illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in Karnataka. The team has already conducted field visits across Bengaluru, Hassan, Chikkamagaluru, and Kodagu to gather details. The report is expected to be submitted to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai. With the Parliament session beginning on Monday, the group is strategizing meetings based on the availability of senior ministers. Their goal is to increase pressure at a critical juncture when the BJP is reportedly considering a leadership change in the state. The internal power struggle has clearly spilled over into Delhi, and all eyes are now on how the party leadership will handle this deepening rift.

‘Sadhana Samavesha' aimed at countering BJP's misinformation, says Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said on Friday that the 'Sadhana Samavesha', which will be held at the Maharaja College ground here on Saturday, is aimed at countering BJP's misinformation campaign. Responding to questions from reporters at the Mysuru airport, Mr. Siddaramaiah sought to make it clear that the event was not a show of strength. The event is an attempt to inform the people of the State about the achievements of the State government in the backdrop of false propaganda spread by the BJP, the Chief Minister said. Referring to the launch of schemes worth ₹2,658 crore at the 'Sadhana Samavesha', the Chief Minister asked whether they would hold such a function for nothing. Further, he asked the BJP to list out its contribution in the development of Mysuru. Accusing the BJP of spreading false information that the State government did not have funds to implement the guarantee schemes, Mr. Siddaramaiah wondered whether the government will be able to spend ₹2,568 crore for just one city if it was bankrupt. The Chief Minister also dismissed speculations about the 'September revolution' amid reports about a change of Chief Minister in the State, and asked reporters to pose the question to the people who were speaking about the same. Even if the people who are talking about it were from the Congress party, they had not told him about it, Mr. Siddaramaiah said. In regard to BJP State president B.Y. Vijayendra's challenge to name All India Congress Committee president Mallikarjun Kharge as the party's Prime Ministerial candidate, Mr. Siddaramaiah said that the BJP leader should ask Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make way for a Dalit. When asked about the stance of the Congress, Mr. Siddaramaiah said that everybody in the party gets an opportunity. Only the Congress is committed to social justice, he added.

Communal strife being fuelled under Cong rule, says BJP chief
Bengaluru: The BJP has alleged that a systematic conspiracy is underway to incite communal strife between two communities in the state. According to the party, anti-national elements are growing bolder with the Congress government's backing. Addressing reporters in Shivamogga on Monday, BJP state President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra said, 'Anti-national elements are becoming stronger in Karnataka, particularly in the coastal region. Forces that do not want peace and aim to create communal discord are ensuring that untoward incidents continue to occur.' 'The tragedy is that the state government is not taking this seriously. Whether it's the murder of Hindu activist Suhas Shetty, the Mysuru police station attack, or incidents of violence during Tipu Jayanti in our Shivamogga district -- trouble is recurring during festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi. These disruptive forces feel emboldened because they know they are protected by the state government,' he alleged. 'Due to the inaction of the government, these anti-national elements are becoming more daring. They believe that no one will hold them accountable because the government is on their side,' he added. 'There is a situation where the fence is eating the crop. In this background, such disturbing incidents are taking place. The BJP strongly condemns this. The Chief Minister and the Home Minister -- who is one only in name -- must pay attention to this situation,' Vijayendra said. Commenting on the recent spate of heart attack cases in Hassan district, he said, 'A series of heart attacks are being reported, especially among young people, and lives are being lost. Shockingly, the district's in-charge minister has not visited the area in the past three months. This is the height of irresponsibility. One does not need further evidence to see how callously the Congress-led government is running the state.' Turning to the state's financial condition, he said, 'The state's economy has collapsed. The Financial Advisor to the Chief Minister, Bavaraj Rayareddy, has stated that if people want roads and other development works, the government will have to stop the guarantee schemes.' 'When the BJP points out that the Congress-led government is struggling to pay salaries, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah claims that everything is fine,' Vijayendra said. 'But through Rayareddy, the Chief Minister has made it clear to the public that funds for development cannot be allocated unless the guarantee schemes are first delivered. This government has pushed the state into a financial crisis.' 'The people are tired of this government and are regretting bringing it to power. That is the reality. The damage caused is so deep that no Chief Minister will be able to easily fix Karnataka's economy,' he concluded.

Will serve full year term: CM Siddaramaiah amid leadership change speculation
Bengaluru: Amid demands from some Congress MLAs for a change in leadership in Karnataka, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday said that he will serve a full five-year term. Speaking to the media at Nandi Hills in Chikkaballapura district, ahead of the cabinet meeting, Siddaramaiah, when asked whether he would remain Chief Minister for the full term, responded, "Yes, I will be the Chief Minister for the full five years." "Why do you (media) have doubts about this? It is always the BJP and JD(S) that make such statements. B. Y. Vijayendra and R. Ashoka are BJP leaders. Their statements don't make any difference. The media must verify the facts," Siddaramaiah remarked. "In a democracy, every MLA of the ruling party has the right to aspire to become a minister. We currently have 142 MLAs, but only 34 have been inducted into the cabinet. As per constitutional provisions, only 15 per cent of the total MLAs can be appointed as ministers," he clarified. "Our government is united. I have already addressed this matter in Mysuru. Our government is rock solid. We will complete the five-year term," Siddaramaiah asserted. Claiming that the BJP and JD(S) are "daydreaming" about the collapse of the Congress-led government in Karnataka, Siddaramaiah said: "They did nothing while in power. Deputy CM D. K. Shivakumar rightly questioned them for evidence of development work carried out during their tenure." "They have made no significant contributions in sectors like irrigation, PWD, education, health and others. Union Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy was the Chief Minister during the coalition government, and the BJP ruled for four years in Karnataka. What have they done? They are simply misleading the people," Siddaramaiah added. Referring to the public turnout at a recent event to celebrate the completion of two years in power in the state, he said, "About three lakh people gathered in Hospet amid heavy rain to mark the completion of two years. Do people come in such large numbers without reason?" When asked about allegations that the survey of oppressed communities regarding internal reservation was not being conducted properly, Siddaramaiah stated, "There are 101 sub-castes within Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities. A door-to-door survey is underway, and people can also provide information online. However, in cities like Bengaluru, there seems to be a social stigma preventing people from identifying themselves as belonging to these categories, and hence online provision is made." Regarding the special cabinet meeting at Nandi Hills, Siddaramaiah said, "Today's meeting is focused on the Bengaluru Revenue Division. Earlier, similar cabinet meetings were held for the Belagavi and Mysuru revenue divisions. Soon, a meeting will be held for the Bijapur Revenue Division.
