The Dubliner continued: 'Ah, sure, who needs to hear from the hometown hero who just defended his belt in his hometown in a sold-out arena in the biggest fight of his life in front of all his people? Conor McGregor fumes at his own company during social media rant

Conor McGregor was left fuming as he took to social media to rant about a decision made during a fight in a company he co-owns. The former UFC star is a co-owner of Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) and was left irate by a decision to end the main event of its most recent show as the winner did not speak after the win. BKFC 77 took place in Birmingham on Saturday, where Connor Tierney successfully defended his UK welterweight title against Danny Christie. Tierney dominated through three rounds before the fight was stopped. And although a deserving winner, there was a confusing end to the fight, with the referee ending the contest going into the penultimate round. McGregor, who has a minority ownership stake in the company, was not pleased with how the bout ended and took to X in a now-deleted video to rant about the decision, but was also upset that the hometown hero did not get to speak to the crowd after finishing. "That was [an] incredible, high-level bare-knuckle fight," he told followers. "Let's hear the mic, get the mic in there. Get him on the mic. Where's the mic? Where's the mic? Where's the mic? Mic, mic, mic, mic, mic. 'Where's Mike Goldberg? Get the mic in there, get the f***ing mic in there! Who called it there? The referee? The doctor? Who called that?! "Ah, sure, who needs to hear from the hometown hero who just defended his belt in his hometown in a sold-out arena in the biggest fight of his life in front of all his people," McGregor continued. "You guys are probably right, end the broadcast, nothing to see here. "I am f***ing livid here! Absolutely ridiculous." McGregor is currently holidaying abroad with his family as he soaks in the summer months, but his fighting future remains in doubt. The former UFC champion last fought in July 2021 when he suffered a horror leg break. Since then, McGregor has promised an in-ring return, and it was originally announced that the start of 2023 that he would fight Michael Chandler. The bout had no official date until early 2024 when Dana White announced the pair would meet in Las Vegas in June, but McGregor withdrew from the bout with a toe injury. Since then he has announced no concrete plans to return to either the UFC or fight in the BKFC.

Carlisle bare-knuckle boxer to make BKFC comeback with title fight

Carlisle bare-knuckle boxer Danny Christie will fight for a British title on his BKFC return this summer. The Currock fighter's comeback bout, seven months after announcing his retirement, will come against Connor Tierney in Birmingham in June. And on the line will be the UK welterweight championship, a title Birmingham-born Tierney has held for the last year. Christie is the former British light-heavyweight champion, who has also fought in the middleweight division. Now the 40-year-old moves down another weight class to take on 30-year-old Tierney. The fight features on the card for BKFC 77 which is held at BP Pulse on Saturday, June 28. It sees Cumbrian Christie back onto the high-profile BKFC scene from which he stepped away last November. Then, he said he was "fulfilled" by his achievements in the sport and said it was the "perfect time" to walk away. But in March the powerful puncher returned to the ring to defeat Shaun Rafferty at the Streetbeefz event in Harrow. He will now attempt to claim the second British title of his bare-knuckle career. Christie first fought in the BKFC in 2022 and, after victories over Terry Brazier and Darren Godfrey, the Carlisle boxer defeated Anthony Holmes to become UK light-heavyweight champion in 2023. After a defeat to the American fighter, Christie successfully defended his British title against David Round. He then moved to the middleweight division, where his first victory against Jimmy Millar earned him a world title shot against the American, David Mundell, who inflicted a second-round defeat on the Cumbrian in Marbella last October. Tierney has eight wins and two defeats to his name in the BKFC, with his unanimous victory against Jonny Graham last August as he won the UK welterweight title.
